gold is the same exact as champion point

Not at all. Gold doesn't increase your stats.
In fact gold is little to no more than a convenience item in the game : allows to to buy stuff from other players instead of farming it yourself. But that's it.

but, but, you can only upgrade gear with mats only with gold not champion points.

Time is power. Whether it be time spent killing mobs or time spent killing players. The "No pain, no gain." philosophy is so weak in current MMOs. I get the impression that many do not want to put in time to gain something, and if they do, they demand a helping hand in the form of boosts and bonuses.

Not sure if this is entirely relevant to ESO, but I just felt like saying it.

The point is, some people get mad when they find out that you have so much gold and they say you have more buying power to get said items... Like a fully maxed out legendary V16 outfit and weapons... That cost me over 2 million in gold alone. So now, because of the gold I easily had access too, I have things that some players cant get, or wont work to get... ie, nerf my gold because it isnt fair I have more than them and now I am more powerful than them... same concept...

Still amazes me that around 30 or so people on here get to dictate to the masses what gets nerfed, that resets are no longer part of the updates etc etc. I mean, say a future update renders our build ***, does that mean those 30 or so whiners pay for everyone's skill resets?

Unbelievable that the vocal minority on here get to dictate to ZoS and the rest of us what direction the game goes. Can't recall this happening in any other game I've played.

Why do ZOS not simply only apply CP to the character's that earn them and not account wide?
No need for any new non vet servers this way.
It may even lower the high number of CP that some players have and go some way to even out the imbalance
Players could not argue or complain we would simply be getting what the character has earned

    Thank you @Gidorick !

I knew you had written some stuff but was actually quite lazy looking for it.

And I truly admire your creativity !

While I'm not so fond of the 1st and 2nd ideas, I really fancy the concept of "Burn CP" or "CP as consumables". Sure it deserves thinking and fine-tuning but it sounds like an excellent idea.

Thanks! Part of the thing I like about these forums is how I can post an idea and, sure enough, I'll get some other ideas from what other players say.

I'm a pretty isolated gamer who doesn't know many gamers in my real world social circles. Those that do play games play games like Madden and Call of Duty. I'm pretty much isolated as an RPG player so my conversations about ideas like these are lost on them. This forum is my haven for those ideas!

Haha I knew there was a reason I liked you besides your good idea's. You just described me perfectly in your last paragraph ;)

Well, kinda sucks. Leveled 6 chars to VR16, one char to VR14 by now. Naturally I got at 500 CP this weekend, didn´t grind for the CP, sometimes for levels on my toons (all got Cadwells gold).

To say it´s unfair that people who play more get more is, what? communism? Even if I try to find the logic here it just doesn´t come to my mind how this could be unfair...

It was fun getting more regen and cost reduction and adapting the build to it (more spellpower than cost reduction enchantements, etc.). Where are people hurt if I got more CP than them?

Leaderboards? Who still runs one of the three trials as they got no scaling to VR16 and no loot of interest.

PvP? Excluding the extremes of 2k CP I can tell you something: you still will get your a** handed in pvp by these players even if you´re on even field regarding CP just as I still will get my a** handed by players in pvp who are better than me. As soon as the cap is installed prepare for a raise of "nerf X, nerf Y" threads....
Needless to say we´re talking about small fights (1v1,2v2,3v3) which are affected by this and the game is an AvAvA scenario and most people run in big groups zerging around.

These two aspects are the only ones people cry about. Why not just deactivate the CP benefits in pvp and leaderboard based encounters instead of taking away what keeps people playing?

Most people in my guilds who praise the CP cap aren´t even able to finish WPT and IP even after the nerfs. They are convinced people who can do that are these with 2k CP.

So, in my book fine. Cap CP. But if it happened don´t you dare to come back to the forums again and cry for nerfs in difficulty because you still are not able to do it. Everything gets nerfed because some people never come to the thought that they could improve something about their gameplay. They always seek to blame something so they don´t have to realise it´s themselves that holds em back. I´m curious how they will dumb down content again...

Thing is at least now ZOS can make a decent attempt at "Balancing" the game both PvP,and PvE wise.. Right now they have been trying to balance this game for two groups of players. The "New" player and the CP farmers.

Without capping CP's ZOS were only making it impossible to program "Balance" as they were having to program TWO games at the same time basically.

And if you are saying that the only reason people were able to complete some things in this game was because they had farmed CP then that alone says the game needed this cap.. The devs should never have to program two games simply because some few 2%ers want to sit and farm CP's till their characters are OP enough to solo bosses and then expect the rest of the player base to do so.

That was not going to ever be a working system.
Anything useful that players are wanting added into the game all fall under the category of "Yer ruinin my 'mersion!" Sallington

The new content doesn't require more CP to complete. It requires very capable players with excellent team work. Ive been in competitive groups completing content as its released prior to CP being the blame at what holds players back. It has always been the case where some people will complete the content and some wont. Two distinct groups ,regardless of CP caps, will always exist with content be it the two new vet dungeons or VDSA/SO prior to the nerfs. The real tough end game content will always require good cordinated players. CP has little to do with this. Example: SO HM being completed shortly after 1.6 by WKB with minimum CP and developed builds. How many groups are doing it now with several hundred? Very few. The notation that a cap will create a "fair" development of content is ludicrous .

I feel sad for the people who thinks this is a balance fix. It's not, it's an bandaid because they don't have the brains to fix the core issues with the game in its current state.

The fact that they are talking about implementing a "hotbreak" to solve Trap Beast until they can patch it properly says everything about how they approach bandaid fixes (they actually think of them as solutions).

So stop acting like skillful players don't exist and the only reason they're good is because of CP. If you actually tried to learn the mechanics inside and out, as well as advanced concepts such as animation cancelling at every possible frame, then maybe you'd understand

Lambert actually said it WAS because of the champ points..

Well then i think Lambert dont even has an idea how broken a Sorc is with Emperor.

A Sorc can easy get arround 35k Magicka without Cps + 75% from Emperor = ~60k
Lets assume he has 2k Spell dmg and 1,5k Regen, with Emperor 3k.

    60k Magicka
    3k Regen
2k Spelldmg - 2200 with Entropy or somthing.

so just give some Horrors a Spellbraker skill, nothing else would be needed
