It's simple. An audit was done to make sure that a character of any level in any alliance has a place they can go to chase any monster collectible. That means that ZOS must have a list of where all of those places are. @ZOS_JessicaFolsom please post that list so that we can see where all of those places are. As long as they're all reasonable places to farm the mobs in question, that will make everyone happy.
Unfortunately, I strongly suspect that you're right. I'd be willing to bet that the audit was basically just a check of the game files to make sure that mobs of the appropriate level exist somewhere in the game. I'd bet that they didn't look into it any further to see if it was actually reasonably possible to farm those mobs. I hope not, but the only way to know is for them to publish the list so we can see for ourselves. It's simple. They won't post it, because I'd bet good money that they are not "reasonable" at all.

Currently the way the trophy fish work is that the character that catches them automatically gains the achievement for them. You can then put the actual fish in your bank and have another character take them out and use them. When you use the fish on your other character, the fish disappears from your inventory, and that character gets the achievement for the fish. If you vendor the fish then the only character that gets the achievement is the one that actually fished it up.I'm confused about some of the fishing comments.
I've always only fished on my main, but while the green fish were bugged and had 0 sell value, Holds-Green-Fish was holding a wide variety of green fish until it was fixed (he made 11k the day it was). I double-checked today and he does not have any credit for those fish. At what point did this start happening?

And if that's the place where ZOS's audit told them people need to go to farm that trophy, then this change to how trophies work is total ***. If there's another place where they can actually be reasonably farmed, then maybe the change is OK. That's why I want @ZOS_JessicaFolsom to post the list of where people can go at all levels and all alliances to get each of the monster trophies.starkerealm wrote: »

I feel there is a benefit in bringing this discussion back into focus, especially since I am still waiting for an answer to my question.

That's unlikely, the tab though, that houses costumes, pets and mounts is known as "Collections"; it's probably referring to something to do with them.
"Collections" and "Collectibles" are difference things. The Crown Store already has a Consumables section along with a Costumes section and many others... I'll wait and see. But with the impossibility of swapping collectible monster trophies between characters I'm sorta hoping they add collectibles to the store at reasonable prices - at least those dies won't be forever locked.

ZOS_JessicaFolsom wrote: »Hi everyone,

Currently, collectible trophies work differently for those obtained via fishing versus those obtained via monster kills. Fishing trophy collectibles grant the associated achievement upon item pick-up, whereas monster-kill trophy collectibles grant the associated achievement upon use. This difference was resulting in a high volume of bug reports and feedback in which players thought the collectible trophies were broken. That combined with the availability being limited by level-range prompted us to make the system more intuitive and uniform. That’s where the upcoming changes come in.
So what do those changes consist of? Here’s a short list:We hope that helps clarify the changes. Please let us know if you have any questions!
- All collectible trophies will now grant the associated achievement when the item is first looted.
- Monster trophies will always drop off appropriate level monsters for your character. A game-wide audit was done to make sure that no matter what level you are, there is always a place you can go to work on collecting the trophy you are looking for.
- Collectible trophies can no longer be banked and traded to another character.
@ZOS_JessicaFolsom
I am very curious about why this was done.
Wouldn't it have made more sense to make all trophies tradeable, so they could then be sold in guild stores?
I believe that doing so would not only encourage the economy, but also give a valid use for them after you have the related achievement credit.
With the changes you mentioned above, after your character has the trophy in question, this rare "collectible" would become vendor trash.
Would you please ask the dev team to review these changes, and consider the long-term ramifications, before fully committing to these changes?
Thanks,

I'm not sure why this makes you so happy.
She basically just confirmed that you can only get drops from mobs that will give you XP, and NOT from mobs that are too low-level.
True, she did follow that up with a note that confirmed a game audit showed it is "possible" to get the trophies even if you are VR16, she didn't say how easy it was. For all we know, it could be that if you are max level, a certain trophy may only be obtainable from 2 mobs in the very end of a group dungeon somewhere. This is not good news.

It's still unfair that some characters have nice farmable areas while other have to work with a handful of mobs in a group instance. But more importantly, think how research works. It would take months of real time to research a new trait on gear - and a mostly useless trait at that. A treasure hunt token/passive instead, maybe? But it still leaves the first problem.KiraTsukasa wrote: »Would a solution to this problem be the addition of a new crafting trait? Perhaps something of a "treasure hunter" trait that increases the drop rate of rare items. It doesn't have to be very much, maybe 1% at common level and increasing 0.5% for each additional improvement. I think it would stop this crying, while at the same time not just handing things out to people.
Drop level restrictions on trophy looting. It's the only solution if they want to make them character-bound.
If the problem is that people don't understand the difference in how fishing and monster trophy collectables work leading to mass amounts of erroneous bug reports then wouldn't it be far less problematic for everyone as a whole if, rather than messing around with something that currently actually works (minus Fleshy Symbiont), you perhaps gave some form of tutorial on just how they function and what they do when somebody picks one up for the first time? You bombard us with tutorials on just about every other "so simple you couldn't possibly screw up unless you had brain damage" feature and clearly this is something that needs to be explained to people so just add one and be done with it! This is a user error issue and will sort itself out once people start figuring out how it works. This is not a serious game breaking problem. There are plenty of those to be found else were in the game. You really don't have to mess with this.
