Before the change, I loved to get a trophy. Now, it's more like "*** why didn't I get it on my main". Very annoying change and no way I am hunting for any kind of trophies any more. It's just pretty much impossible for me to get the achievements.

I keep getting fleshy symbiotes on every character but the one I'm trying to complete the collectible achievements on...

Like the laurel and casserite drops being tied to having learned motifs on that character, this is such a horrible change to something that was working perfectly fine, that no one complained about. ZOS' explanation that 'too many bug reports from people who didn't understand you had to 'use' the item to add it to collection is so laughably inadequate - why not improve the tooltip to make the instructions clearer?

'Right click to consume this trophy and add it to your collections. Unlocking others in the same collection may unlock a special dye and other rewards.'

There you go, problem solved instead of screwing over anyone with alts.

    I am still in mourning!!!!

Just the other day I got a blue collectible (a draugr arm, I think it was), and I was so relieved to have found it on my main!! Imagine the frustration if I'd gotten it on an alt :confounded:

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: CHANGE IT BACK

My boyfriend and I have mains on separate alliances, because back at PC launch he insisted that at some point you could change alliance - he obviously had not done his homework. He then ended up investing too much time into his main to want to make a new one. We then made alts so we could fish, quest, and trophy hunt - since everything we found we could give to our mains, and by doing so did not feel it was a "waste of time" playing together with our alts instead of our mains.

Flash forward to today: we still play our alts together, but it's just not the same or as fun with these limitations. We don't even want to continue fishing with our alts for the sole reason of maybe catching that ONE fish we're missing on our mains. (Plus, it's time consuming!) - and my boyfriend doesn't fish at all on his main! That is how annoyed he is

I still don't understand that you can share weapons, armours, recipes, potions, soul gems, etc - all things that give you an actual advantage in the game! But not collectibles/trophies/fish that just end up giving you a pretty colour for your armour, and a title for your character.................

What is the use in those collectables?

There isn't one. I just sell 'em.

For those who are wondering what the collectables are for. If you get a set of them, like dwemer, undead, etc, they unlock a new dye for you.

True, but you don't need to keep them to keep the dye, no?

The dyes are tied to the achievements. Now that the achievement progression is automatically given to you as soon as you get the collectible, and you can't transfer them to other characters :disappointed:, they are totally useless and you can just sell them.

Back before this awful change, you needed to actually "use" the item (which destroyed it automatically) to get the achievement progression. But you could also transfer them to any character on your account before using it, thereby giving the achievement progression to whichever character needed it, regardless of which character actually obtained the item.

And this was a much simpler and convenient system than the current one, where you end up with useless items lying around that do absolutely nothing.

Agreed, 100%. ZOS's reasoning was that these collectibles and the fishing trophies worked differently (which was supposedly confusing) and that players had to "use" the collectibles to get them to count (which was supposedly confusing).

Instead of making the collectibles work like the fishing trophies (and then making them BOTH character-bound), they could have made the fishing trophies work like the collectibles (removing the "confusion" over two different systems), and then just add a note to their tool-tips explaining that they needed to be "used" to count (removing the "confusion" over how the collectibles worked). Everyone would have been happy.

Couldn't agree more. It seems an excessive solution to a simple problem. What ever happened to the classic saying: If it ain't broken, don't fix it!!

Let me add my voice to those others requesting the changes to be reverted. As it is, I've given up on trying to get this achievement altogether.

I just recently came back to the game, was wondering is this still an issue?

or can I start looking forward to having my collectables achievements on main char done at one point?

Since we now have one tamriel and all mobs in any region are CP160 (the old vet16), you can. You just have to farm with your main, because they are still bind on pickup.

super, thats all I needed to hear :)

I dont mind like farming them or getting them as rng just from running around slaying stuff :) dont even mind if it takes a year or two, as long as its possible :)

Another reason for me now, that I love One Tamriel more :D
