Because they failed to add a fundamental part of any mmo... Oh well i really wanted to play this on my console.. And i shan't be returning to it on PC.
Also you can already use a keyboard and mouse on both xbox one and ps4.... I already use it. And mouse and keyboard on FF ARR....
You may be right but MY opinion is the game will not crash and burn due to text chat. The consoles have more active players than PC which could be an argument against adding text chat.
Let's be honest...the PC gets updates first, has add-on support, customized controls, AND as you all desire...Text chat
All that but still far less active players (*based on what is reported)
Only time will tell but the game IF it falls apart will be more so due to lack of content and a terrible endgame concept rather than any decisions on how communication occurs.
Zershar_Vemod wrote: »If they add text chat to consoles, great, but people were warned well ahead that that feature was not going to be on console.
I am very content on playing ESO as a solo/SP game thanks to the no text chat. It has actually made most of my solo play interesting as I had to learn how to solo world bosses/anchors, learn which skills are best to help solo content.
This MMORPG is the best single player game ive ever played, it really like just having random NPCs running around that randomly do things or help you at world bosses or anchors.
Just exit, close the app and rlog into the Sam character, you will instalog back in just fine.I really think there should be a new text chat option or "zone chat" under the social tab in the menu. Eso desperately needs it. I consider the main reason being that the group finder tool is virtually pointless for finding a group under the "world" section. You may be able to find a group in an hour or so and i would say it's a one in a million chance of them actually being interested in what you want to do. It would be great to be able to type I quick message saying lfg "_____" and then wait for an invite to come through.
P.S. I I'm writing this post as I sit on a never ending load screen. 15 minutes and still counting. I would exit the game and start it up again but that would mean another 30+ minutes queu to get back into cyrodiil "this may be an unusually long load time"

Really now This is something you can just Google yourself Majority of Americans now a days have a smart phone or tablet so they won't have to go out of their way to buy a new one. They can also make a website for you so call real MMO players can use your PC aswell for Text chat. Also this is a better solution that gives both sides what they want.If you want text chat you would have it if you don't you don't have to use the app or see it on screen.ZOS can make it .99¢ and make some money off of it that's the only way they will probably do it.
This is a terrible solution. A fix that requires the player to both leave the game and use 3rd party programs / websites in order to utilize the systems in the game is a failure of design, especially when those systems were 100% designed to be utilized from inside the game in the first place.
And most especially when there is already a version of the game that has been live for almost a year and half that requires no such bandaid fix.
While you may believe this to be a "reasonable" solution, many of use wholeheartedly disagree w/ such a sentiment.
How does picking up.your phone makes you leave the game?
If I'm typing on my phone, I'm most definitely not playing the game.
If you are typing on your keyboard, you are not playing the game.
Voice chat and a controller allow both communication AND gameplay at the same time on console.
Mic drop.
If you're typing into the game on a keyboard, then yeah, you are playing the game. Disputing that just seems like being deliberately obtuse.
If your attention is removed entirely from the game and the screen to stare at a completely separate device that isn't bundled w/ your console, that you need to purchase separately and pay a completely separate monthly bill for usage, then you are NOT playing the game. You are playing on your phone.
And again, you don't need a keyboard. Many of us would probably use one for comfort / ease, but you absolutely do not need a physical keyboard to utilize an onscreen keyboard. I'm not even sure why you assume you would.
...or do you somehow plug a keyboard into your phone whenever you want to text for some reason?
You are splitting hairs to keep from arguing against yourself, lol.
Most modern games include some sort of second screen experience, its the same thing you are asking for except not old fashioned.
You want a model t and we could have a Ferrari.

Again, link the quote. I don't need your interpretation of what was said, as we both know you've been so very dead wrong about your interpretations in the past.
Remember when you were so very certain that the console version would ship w/ a text chatbox (usable through an on-screen keyboard, you said) and argued w/ me for 15 pages about your misinterpretation of what the devs told us, even though their statement was pretty blatantly the opposite?
I do.NewBlacksmurf wrote: »if you watch the two ESO live shows again...they actually say it's not being considered.
That's actually not what they say at all. They say "it probably won't be a straight text box". That's not the same thing, and "probably" most certainly does not mean "not being considered".
Please stop saying "they actually say" things that they actually never said.NewBlacksmurf wrote: »It's why I keep posting that in these threads because for whatever reason their response to continue forum discussions and feedback was somehow misinterpreted that this is being considered.

What it IS designed to include is text-based communication, which is WHY people feel that a lot of the in-game systems on the console version are clunky.

Or you know, you are a generic ranter and people gave you alternatives.
Does that make you a flamebaiter and troll since you followed him over here?
Neither.
At the moment the alternative is to get the PC version (which is on sale on Steam btw), which includes the complete game. Although my hearing has been going the past few years, and my summer job last year resulted in further damage, I'm not complaining that I need to adjust the audio options now to fit my needs.
I am also suffering from various join issues, and only recently finally got a chiropractor, and awaiting blood testing to see if a former serious case of lymes disease is one of the causes (along with other possible causes). I'm at the point that writing, typing, etc. is a difficult task, but I'm not demanding ZOS to cater to me. I will also try to get disability at my university this semester due to the fact that I can barely finish exams / quizzes on time due to my joint pain.
But no, I'm just a baiter I guess because you said so.....
Play it on console see how you like it then you will know what i mean
I'd rather not use a sub-par system, thanks. This was made for PC, I beta tested for PC, I play on PC.
You have the choice remember, but you continue to blame ZOS. But as someone in your thread suggested, maybe you don't fully grasp the concept of "discrimination."
It's unfortunate that you are horribly representing players with disabilities. You should feel ashamed.
How about this, the PC version is any sports car, the console is a Honda Civic.
There are things in the sports car that you desire, whether it's specific features, etc., but you are complaining because you have a Honda Civic that doesn't have those features. They are both cars that get you from A to B, and fulfill the basic needs that all cars give.
Within this hypothetical situation, you have the ability to save up / purchase the sports car, but you'd rather complain about the Honda Civic and how it isn't a sports car. You get to the point of demanding people downgrade to get to your level because you are so insecure, etc.
Welcome to your side of this.

Im just confused as to why you would have the interest, to bother posting in here if not to follow that guy....At this point you can only detract from the topic since you have nothing to lose or gain here.
As for your physical issues. Im quite sure ZOS has stated they are looking into introducing VOIP for PC.
So you can sit here and claim not to be a troll. But your behavior so far is the complete opposite.
Because they feel like they are a special snowflake? They could have done some basic research to see that it was well-known that consoles lack certain convenience features. Their previous thread proved that they lack personal responsibility, and would rather point fingers and yell "discrimination!"
As someone who also suffers from various issues, I find it disgusting that they are giving poor impressions of those with disabilities.
Being called a troll because of common sense? Ok. I guess there are a ton of "trolls" here then. But hey, you're the one calling me names for just posting honestly, so maybe I should suggest that you might be the real troll here.

You don't have to do that at all on the PC. You minimize it, it stays minimized. You are just assuming that it would be as half-arsed as VOIP was done for the consoles.
Also, a second screen app is just what YOU think what all parties want. I don't want it. Others have already said that they also don't want it. I'm not really sure what makes you KEEP thinking that all parties want it when people have expressed the exact opposite.NewBlacksmurf wrote: »Why argue to force console players to play like PC players?
The only ones arguing to "force" anything are those who are arguing to force everyone to play through VOIP-only. Those who want text chat are literally only asking for everyone to have options.
You, my friend, are arguing for everyone to have none.
Those are mmoFPS try console mmooRPG games DCUO and FFxi are both MMORPG"S on console ...both have in game text..this game is a port from pc not a new game...text was in the game on CONSOLE they tested and said he thought it felt funny using a keyboard on the couch which is dumb..all we want is what most MMORPG players have cometo expect from games of this genere..
Are you new to consoles? Not intended insultingly. I like that you disagree. Its fine but any recent console player who sees this portion of the debate would realize simple in game text chat is a missed opportunity for a kick butt second screen experience.
Zos wants you to have the game close at hand at all times, I would imagine, most game designers would like this. Manage your inventory while at work or let your guild know what mats you have etc. This is superior.
And I think the ambiguity in zos not addressing text stuff directly implies the second screen experience is how they will address this issue. IMO obviously, note how the thread is curated but not addressed.
I actually can't wait for them to release the app.
Only this, not need 73 pages: ZOS WE NEED AND WANT TEXT CHAT.

People who prefer voice chat will continue to use that as a way to communicate, text spam should not even be a concern for them, as they will surely have text chat disabled anyways. I replied to his post because i felt like it, why is this important to you?
