Thank you for this precious advice - I wasn't able to assess my buying options till now.

By the way, your contribution to this thread stopped being insightful after your 50th or so post. No need to continue repeating things you've already said many times - I've already read and evaluated your thoughts on the matter. Of course, If you have something new to add, I'd try to take it into account.

TL;DR: It should have become pretty obvious by now that the console version of this game simply doesn't work as intended without text chat. Core MMORPG features such as guilds, grouping, PvP coordination, trading, even roleplaying - all of them suffer due to poor player communication options.

Please implement a chat! At least for the guild if nothing else.

Whoever thought that it was a good idea to not put in text chat in a MMO must have his head checked and fired in an instant.

I am not against VC. Voice chat is indispensable for raiding and other sorts of group content where coordination is crucial. But key MMORPG features simply cannot function without text communication. At least not in ESO in its current form.

Sir I have read each and every post in thsi 61 page thread while I understand their merit to having Text chat in the game as it is now it is not needed.It is not something the game most have like damaged numbers or Character names being shown it is something that you want.Also people have raised several valid reason why text chat is not needed but the pro-text players ignore it and say that it's not a valid reason and that since it can be toggled its fine.In reality its not the VC advocate its the pro text that believe that any counter to their belief that the game needs chat text is wrong and .

Also I while I agree with you that VC in ESO needs to be fixed and improved the implementation of text chat and the time it would take to completly redo the UI just for a chat box that only a minority will use is a waste of their time.

Am I missing something. How would putting a text box in the bottom left where there is currently nothing involve a complete ui revamp?

All that said what is becoming the bigger issue for me is the total lack of respect the devs are showing this thread. Say yes say no say you are thinking about it but for pitys sake at least do or say something its just being rude now.

Can we get at least dedicated trading channel to use? I would invision a trade channel either servicing server or city.

Text chat is a feature that was essentially 'disabled' for consoles. It needs to be toggled back on and possibly tweaked a bit. But there is no UI overhaul needed.

You don't understand game designing at all do you.You Can't just copy and paste a chat box into the console UI and its there. Their so much the Game designers have to do just to implement a text box and make sure its works or all of you will make another 62 page thread complaining that the text chat that we been asking for a month doesn't even work.

LOL what? This is an MMO, are you suggesting that Chatboxes shouldn't have been implemented in the first place? This is literally a no Brainer, Don't give me that tired excuse of TOO HARD. Even FFXI on the PS2 had Keyboard, Damage numbers. This was hands down a Design choice.

If they can't even properly design chatboxes or Damage numbers in the console versions of an MMO, then they have failed as Developers even DCUO and FFXIV had both upon it's release on consoles.

So either these devs are inept or it was a design choice. I doubt these developers are Inept like you suggest.

Voice Chat on Consoles is terrible compared to PC for a few reasons. One of them being because you can easily press a button to talk. This usually helps prevent Mic Spam.

I'm sure that a lot of times the mic spam comes from people who don't realize they're mic is on.

So I won't stop saying your the minority until something can prove otherwise then your the minority.

While again I have to agree with you guys that the lack of a response is ridiculous just tell you all their not going to implement it and allow you guys to make a decision to either stay or go.Saying nothing will just make more players leave.

Sometimes there are no words. If the implementation of basic features that have been included in EVERY SINGLE MMO EVER offends you so much then I wish you luck. So i will end with this:

Dear ZOS please count me as a +1 for text chat. I will continue to lurk on these pages but im not posting again only to have people vehemently argue against a feature that would improve the gameplay of many because of reasons™. I wish you luck with developing your game but you will not get one penny more from me till this is implemented. If you deign to get down from the ivory tower and acknowledge this as an actual issue then depending on what your response actually is I may reconsider.

other issue with voice chat is you only get to hear one or two people just talking over everyone and never coming up for air so no one else ever gets to talk,or your in the middle of a conversation and someone walks up and starts yelling that hes selling a blue motif for 10k or is blasting some horrible music in your ear,the voice chat is so poorly done on here you can even mute a player..just give us TEXT chat and the ability to mute players in voice and the game will almost be a real MMO again,

if they are so worried about people not having a keyboard or not wanting to have a text chat window on the screen on console then just use the second screen feature and we can all use our cell phones to type and see local/group chat,and while your at it ad mod support on console,just work with minion im sure they would be happy to help they made your pc version playable with features the game should have had to begin with like the ability to stack items in the guild bank...being able to see how much damage you are actually doing to an enemy, and your current xp and how much xp needed to your next level...you know things that every other mmo over the past 20 years has had..

not trying to be over critical i love the game over all its just missing some very obvious things, you guys are marketing to MMO players after all so it would make since to add basic MMO features to the game.
