Don't mind a button as long as it's not a ranked post, hidden post system. Let people disagree button all they like but DO NOT make it rate posts as relevant or irrelevant. That's where the misuse will come from.

Additionally did ZOS remove the LOL button because it was being abused for this reason, if you're going to bring back the dislike bring back the LOL as well.

Forums can be negative enough. Most human beings can't be trusted to not misuse a negative option such as a disagree button when they can hide behind avatars on the internet. Besides you can see clear enough when people agree and disagree with the current system. If anything maybe people should use the "Poll" option more if they really want to see more accurately who agrees and disagrees.

I do like the "LOL" button though, should have that again.

Most human being cannot be trusted to use a positive option in a positive manner. I'm going to venture a guess this is why the LOL button was removed.

There is no stopping trolls. Because as much as we may hate them, trolls are genius creatures that excel at getting under our skin. No system is troll proof, not without ridiculous limitations. Even then a clever troll will still find a way.

No matter how troll-proof you make something, someone will always make a better troll.

It's a mix of both if you ask me. You have thoughtless, careless people who genuinely don't care about others on the internet who say things, then you have the tools for them to push it even further.

transparency doesn't always make us better people, it also allows people to protect themselves from repercussions when they say what they really thing, or to do what they feel like doing. This is why people post on alts and alt accounts on forums and stuff.

They are using the transparency and animosity of the internet in their favor. However positive or negative this is depends on the person in question.
