A simple cheap USB keyboard works fine or if you prefer the official PlayStation app links your smartphone to console to use as a keyboard. Pretty useful for slang, jargon and other things saved In the dictionary in the phone

I use a bluetooth keyboard with my PS4 with no issues at all .. paid like $25 for it , really nice & is backlit so I can see the keys on it easy as I play in a pretty dark room.

@Varicite BTW the consoles were not even supposed to get the game, and when the game came out for them, ZOS turned their backs on us. Seriously we haven't had any good and useful updates for almost a year now so come back when when u have that under your belt, but by then well have another year. And I havent heard anything of PC getting voice chat or controller support, and no I don't want to play on console cause ten years from now no one is going to use PS4 OR Xbox One, plus it costs mor

lol i could see you console players now, getting the chat box and all txt in cyrodiil then out of no where you get one shoted by some guy who is talking to their team through voice chat, ahh the classics. you know the thing is you can't hold a controller and txt on keyboard at the same time, its one or the other. Here's a thought why not play the PC(MR) version of the game? its got everything you want and more like its better than the Medium Graphics on 1080p @ 30 FPS ( wait what?), come over to the PC side of things and you'll get your bloody keyboard and teamspeadk (people who don't use third party chat are sol) plus Ultra Graphics on like 1080p-4k @ 60+ FPS, on top of all that you don't have to pay for that PSN or Xbox Live. So come on what are you waiting for, lets all be equalized because the masters are getting rather sick and tired of all the peasants complaining about not having a completely useless feature ( also filled with drawbacks) in their version of the game!

QFT.... ESO has ALWAYS been slated for consoles.... and honestly... if ESO itself was a fully featured MMO system ie scrolling combat text, minimap, etc... the gameplay would be better on consoles, the haptic feedback is fun, and the controller makes combat seem more dynamic. But the lack of usually standard data features in ESO makes it difficult to get a clear picture of combat without PC mods.

You seem to be confused. I've been a PC player since beta. I just also have the console version now.

I've been a pretty active voice here and on other forums, testing many of the mechanics and explaining said mechanics to the general public. The next update will be featuring at least 2 bug fixes that I caught myself, and it won't be the first time.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that I only play on consoles simply because I would like the console version to be on par w/ what the PC has. I could point out a few other misconceptions in your post, but I honestly just don't have the time and I'm sure others will go ahead and do that for me. : P

You keep saying "we" when referring to PC players, but looking at your other posts, you seem to be a relatively new (or simply uninformed) PC player. Some of us have been around for quite a while, and there are many who have been here far longer than I have.

As for the conversation about text-based chat on consoles, I've been a part of this discussion since it began. Here's an example:

See, that guy that they are addressing is me, and yes the information they gave me at first about this whole debacle was incorrect. They later corrected themselves and told us that consoles actually would not have text-based chat enabled.

1-Zos has stated PC is getting Voice and controller support...So theres 2 console things for PC

2- most want it for other reason then pvp not everyone game centers around pvp...read the thread.

3- yes we do have to pay for psn live and or xbox gold to play eso

4- I wouldn't go around throwing a master race vs peasant comment in..your whole post shows you did not read the thread..and you dont even know what ZOS has stated when it comes to pc lol

4b -ive seen to see a ton of PC players in this thread supporting Console having text..not only that there was a ton of threads on the subject before release ...before console players could even post on the fourms with a maijorty wanting console to have text.

Ok so I'm not a console player, but this thread is 54 pages long obviously there is overwhelming support for this addition as an option, @zos how about some confirmation on your newest platforms and actually let them know something. Don't keep quiet like you did on pc hasn't helped one bit... I'm sorry guys but hope @zos is listening and they make the right choice for it to be implemented into its next big patch. Honestly if you include the other multipal threads that ZOS closed about text chat on the console starting around just before the console beta when they told us the TOOK OUT text chat, yes text chat was in the console version till just before the beta. You would prolly be looking at 250+ pages covering this & still no response.

Zos hasnt really commently at all latly on any console issue..Like text / guild bank not stacking and some pvp things...Bascily any thing with the words..PS4- xbox-console

Ya I know it is making me sad, because I do love playing this game. There are a lot of fixes that need to happen and it looks like the next ESO Live is just going to be about the next DLC, so I doubt they will even address any console issues. I still hope every day that I will log onto the forums to find ZOS commented on text chat.

The "quick chat" feature DOES NOT work.
By the time you open up the quick-wheel and select which quick-chat-emote to use the person has already run past you...or you do it to someody standing still and get no reply because they are AFK.
That "feature" STILL only works when you are ALREADY basically in a group/conversation with somebody...because when playing first-person you have to be FACING somebody to read the quick-chat-emote...a CHAT-BOX works facing ANY direction, and a person can scroll it up to see what they missed while AFK.

And they want to add MORE craptastic-quick-chat instead of a simple EFFICIENT chat-box?!?

Last night i was in a fight and was losing,so i yelled into my mic Hellpppp.. and was helped out in seconds. It has its good points and bad. Like the other night hubby fwll asleep playing and was snoring all over the game. That was from Cancer fatigue.

I really want text chat but think about this, would you pay extra to unlock it? Say 5k crowns or have an active subscription. I'm a little worried that these items we are all basically begging for will have a price.

There are a lot of good things about Voice chat and I think it was a great addition to the game. I think that text chat would only help to make for a better experience gaming. I have found a lot of my fellow guild mates like to use party chat instead of in game chat. So one benefit of having text chat is to be able to sent a quick shout out saying "looking for group for daily pledge." That way it reaches all 100+ members on-line, instead of asking in voice chat where online 10 member our hanging out at.

Text chat is not a tool to replace voice chat, it is only a tool to help enhance the gaming experience.

Pretty much, not sure why pc is getting voip added in. Other pc mmo's have tried but most people stick to the 3rd party voip program's for quality and stability. But more options is better in the long run

I think you just answered your own question, lol. And honestly, many people feel that a product like a MMO shouldn't require you to go outside of the game for basic systems such as communication.

I tend to agree w/ that philosophy, personally. If you can enhance your game's experience by better facilitating communication across the board, or making said communication more accessible to your player base, then it makes sense to attempt to do so.
