So apparently the consoles versions have absolutely no form of communication at all now, with text chat coming much later.
What's broken with Voice on Console?
1) Quit Auto-Joining us to Area Chat.
2) Guild management of 500 members is impossible with the current voice channel system.
3) Guild officers should auto-join officer chat channel.
4) The quality of the voice is terrible compared to the Party chat in Xbox itself.
5) Being able to turn off voice chat completely. Current workaround, make a Xbox party of one.
And the unfixable...players that don't know how to use a mic, don't have a mic, or have kinect as their mic, inviting us into their living room
Casuals are going to save this game. Adapting to the needs of the casuals will help prop up development revenue.
Will that lead to the holy grail of mmo design? Prob not. But no one is. A special little snowflake here. The wants of the many will out shine the whims of the few.
I'm not against text chat but I bristle at melodramatic 'sky is falling' comments.
Adding 2 vet ranks is not catering to casuals... ZOS is schizo
Yes and no. When casuals see the vet 16 killing them they will rush to the crown store and double fist those exp potions!
So yes and no.

Give it until the end of the year. If they don't fix voice chat and add text chat, see where it is. Sales numbers on console don't mean longevity which is key to a MMOs life. Console sales are B2P, yeah...ZOS got their money...but I already see people in my guilds playing other console games. They lasted about 2 weeks.

Now the game has been out a while.
It's obvious most people don't use voice chat outside of their friends.. you don't get anyone in a group talking that aren't friends, the only thing you hear these days is "i'll give you x amount for a bite" if you are listening to area chat waiting for vamp/werewolf.
People in general are in console party chats, which leaves the in game voice almost redundant, if it's not the bite thing, it's rarely you hear anything else other than someones tv feedback or something like a watching a youtube video on something else.
Since i'm a tank, the group finder rarely works at all, if it does, i'll be put into a group and no-one talks but will send me psn messages asking which dungeon we should do or can i help with another dungeon after etc.
It's becoming increasingly difficult to get dungeons done if it's not with a friend, alot of people don't get the tactics.
In one dungeon the boss puts aoe all over the floor, then when he changes the screen to black you have to step into the white aoe circles, the amount of times the pugs can't just understand it, i have to send a message on the ps4 message system to tell them how the mechanic works, because they aren't on voice. Sort it out, it's getting tiresome.
Would of just been alot more easier for me to of done this in game rather than me adding steps like:
View profile = load = send message = wait

Um what are you talking about? You aren't implying that ESO outsold GTA on consoles right?

My wife and I quit this game by the way directly due to no text. Haven't logged in weeks now and no plan on it until they fix the game. Such a shame too, seeing as they had it already. Such a basic feature to not be added. What a waste. Oh well, money saved on crowns and store is a great thing.

To be fair, the topics on his thread are a way more pressing concern than text chat and have a much higher potential of leading to the game's "death". Multiple forms of communication is pointless in a dead game.
And of course here's the obligatory, "I don't care if they add an optional text chat box for those who want it." Have a feeling someone is going to misconstrue what I say if I don't throw that in here.
