(console) Add a practice dummy to measure dps?

So I healing in a dungeon the other day and a boss wasnt dying. So naturally the tank called out the dps. The dps then had a 5 minute argument about which was the scrub. Then I recalled and thought sure would be nice to measure personal dps to improve on builds and rotations.

I know things are immersion sensitive round here so why not add practice dummies in each town. Have them have a few different levels of health and players can time how long it takes to burn the dummies full bar. Knowing you can burn dummy B in 48 seconds isnt as good as dps but atleast we can have a static test.

This has been something requested by players for a long time on PC.

ZOS have said they're aware of it and would like to add it but with no confirmed plans on when or how.

Ahh i didn't even think to check since you guys have your fancy meters. But yeah i guess target dummy with a damage meter is the bees knees.

Find a comparison with PC stats e.g. A certain NPC group always has X health, then use a rudimentary timer system with the console to measure how long it takes to kill that NPC. Just divide damage by time and there's your rough dps.

Not ideal, but great for what you have available now.

many issues on the console around that should be more important than dummies, but i do see your bigger view for this. and i totally support it. would be nice to have some sort of measuring stick. We will need combat logs before this happens though. maybe something can help this like text chat for console?

We asked for this in the beta and it's never going to happen. Why? Simple, because all the die hard Elder Scroll fans won when it came to the design of the game, that's why it's missing many features every other MMO has.

My immersion would reach a catastrophic end of biblical proportions if this were implemented. It would mean the end of all immersion everywhere simultaneously. It would be as if all immersions cried out in terror and then were silenced.

    ...my immersion.

Don't forget "knowing your DPS causes elitism" because people will want to know your DPS and if you don't cut it, won't run with you ;)
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

I prefer the Asherons Call style of end game material, everyone gets to participate as long as they're not naked and they are fighting.

Min/Maxing is in many games, no need to antagonize that beast here.

If they added a way to measure characters/specs dps, healing damage reduction etc., they would have to actually "balance" the game. This would be far too much work.

There are already several addins for PC that record all of that info. Target dummies would just make it easier and more conveinient for us. And target dummies would usher ESO out of the dark ages of MMOs.

Then again, so would detailed sales notifications and nameplates.

I always love that argument. When the truth is people can tell if a player is bad with or without numbers to back it up. For instance, I bet that tank has a mental note not to run with those DPS again.

At least DPS meters / target dummies will allow the bads to see and possibly understand why they are bad and maybe encourage them to fix it.

There is a dummy, unkillable character in the game already.

Im not sure if i'd refer to myself in cyrodil as 'unkillable', but i mean if you want to you can.

Spending 3 hours in a dungeon that should take 30 mins is not fun. Giving up on the last boss after spending that much time in there to begin with is even less fun.

Dps meters in conjunction with target dummies allow people to squeeze their characters for maximum performance. It facilitates those of us that want to support our friends and guild members. They are tools for success.

Nobody else can see your dps in ESO unless you want them to. So it isn't abused much here.

How will practice dummies help when you cant even see your damage numbers in the first place?

Nah that's only if the dps is linkable/sharable. B)
    Self-only-measurements would be fine though.

I think if you reread the post you may get it. If X build / rotation takes 100 seconds to burn the dummies health, and Y build / rotation takes 90 seconds. Y build is superior in that length of an encounter.
