Voice is coming to PC soon. It's only consoles that are getting shafted.

Pc has voip. Always has.
This^^ Every mmo I gave ever played we always used ventrilo, teamspeak or some other program for Guild and party voice chat. Its a piece of cake and wish it was that way on console. The chat system as it stands in eso is horrible. Constantly having to turn it off everytime you load into a zone or switch characters. Nothing but loud rude noises, loud music, screaming adults and children. Not too mention creepers and beggers. We need text chat. This is an mmo and greatly needed for proper communication. A chat wheel with emotes? Unfortunately I can't buy and sell with that or find groups. I also play on the pc as I am a transfer. I can do without all the add ons and extra stuff that pc players have. The UI on console could use a few tweeks, but above all we need text chat if it is going to continue as a thriving community.2 -

Myself and others would like text chat so we can communicate within the eso community, im unable to use the voip due to a hearing disability but would still like to communicate ingame, there are plenty of other valid reasons listed in the thread on why others would like a optional text box. Im curious as to why you would be against a toggled chat box?1 -

Voice isn't more efficient most of the time . In raid, dungeon or pvp groups voice is preferable. Have you ever been in a voice chat with 30 + members chatting? It's chaos . No way to ask in guild if anyone wants to run X event unless they're both on mic and in the voice channel unless we send individual messages . Guys can have 5 guilds so which guild chat are they in ? An example:
I feel like doing pvp how to go about it ? I know I'll ask in guild text chat how many wanna head into cyrodil . We have 40 online we can get a good 2 groups made here . Oh wait no text, I know I'll ask in guild voice chat ....... Oh wait only 6 in the channel . Mind boggling decision from the devs. There appear to be console mmo virgins in this thread against chat . I'd say to them embrace mmos , it's what you paid for and I guarantee it'll improve your experience I'm a mic guy and always have been but mmos have chat aswell for good reason both combined is the most efficient method . This method isn't innovation bringing us the future it's short sightedness keeping this MMO in the dark ages

Pman85✭✭✭✭I have always been on the fence about text chat on the consoles. I have a guild i made from day 1 of console launch and i am picky about my members having non-shi**y mics so everything has been...doable.
But..
Since my vacuum ate up my mic chord i have been just shy of a week without a mic (i finally found my old headset) and let me tell you, without a mic, working with a team, or even the slightest communication is near impossible.
Trying to do pledges without a full team with mics is so brutal, and being a healer without a mic makes it ten times worse. After this past week, I feel the biggest need for consoles is the text chat...BY FAR.
close second would be stacking in the G bank, my time as GM of a guild i built shouldn't be spent moving items to and from the g bank lol, but that is a topic for another thread.Guildmaster - Order of Stendarr [XB1] - Apply today!

Come on ZOS just say if you want us to pay for it, im sure people would rather pay £15 for a chat box than a FROSTY HORSE!
I have a few deaf friends who play this game... Using my mobile phone to text chat with them is not ideal.
Just add a chat box, I'm sure some computer guy could do it in his lunch break.4 -

PvP balancing
Player housing
New controller templates (I don't need quick access to a POV slider, I DO need a quick way to cycle through chat channels, which would help mitigate any real need for a text chat)
A smoking emote
Work vamp/werewolf bites into the peer trading system, or a similar measure to prevent scamming
Orsinium
Clockwork City
Flipping the bird emote
Bugs
Dark Brotherhood
More bugs
Ultimately, developer time is a precious commodity. Maybe if they rolled this into something more worthwhile, like an official companion phone app replete with a bunch of other features. But just text chat, by itself, is not something I would use, and there are plenty of other things I would have them work on, so...
If it came down to console text chat or adding another mount to the crown store, I guess I would rather they spent their time on text chat.1 -

Text chat is beyond cumbersome on a console. Keyboard takes up half the screen and entering just a few words with a joystick is slow. It would prove to be nothing more than annoying screen clutter and if it was something you could turn off then everyone would and it would be no different than people without mics. I vote no. My screen is busy enough. I can build up my friends and guild list with people that do talk and which I enjoying playing and conversing with. Text chat is just another means to spam innocent players and even more likely to lead to that. At least with voice chat I can see who is spamming by the circle over their head.
omg lol 2015 buy a keyboard, $5 on amazon free delivery or do what i did and buy the official ps3 Bluetooth keyboard for $20, like everyone playing ffxiv on ps3/ps4 did.
Why play with an awkward keyboard on your lap?
Everytime I use mine I just resent the no mics forcing me to slow type them a message while some jerk shoots me afk.
There are uses, but respect that most people don't or won't really use it when voice chat is an option.

why use a keyboard at all..most people want text chat for simple messages that you can type with a controller and use auto fill to get done in 30 sec. No one is really saying we want text chat to have hour long conversation...Most wanna send tells to get with guild mates or sell some thing or shout for a group[ all can be done with out a keyboard in less then 30 sec.
I say Since alot of pc players don't want console to have text...(check the stars by names most 4 stars are pc players)...
Keep controller suoport to console only they have keyboards no need to have both since they say we cant have both cause we have voice lol..
(honestly i could care less what pc gets just tired or no response from Zos)
