Elder scrolls needs text chat be so much easier to find groups noone even uses area chat

I would love to have a Text Chat. i'm playing on European Server and - suprise - we habe dozens of languages over here, so communication is quite impossible. All I hear is farting sounds and crieing babys. Playing with a headset is annoying sometimes, especially when the Dolby Surround System sound SO much better. I cn't search for special items or vampire bites, no idea how to do it without the forums ... Can't run around town all the time asking everyone, got a job and stuff do.

I played FFXIV until reaching Level 50 and enjoyed communication with the community, reading global chat and see what Guild members are talking about. ESO feels unforuntaley very lonely ar the moment in comparison. The rest is great and all, bit text chat would be amazing.

That's why i play on the NA server, every dungeon group ive played in so far everyone has used their mics, on EU 3 dungeons and not a single other person spoke, not to mention i got kicked form a french group for not speaking french, NA server all English... bliss.

I couldn't even get to level 50 or finish the story, it's so painfully boring and you can't make friends like you can in other mmo's like warframe or Realm reborn.

Eso would have been cool on last gen, but it's poorly executed on current gen. It's competition just annihilates them.

I still reallly love this game. Its a great time and I am making tons of new playing buddies. The group dungeons are a lot of fun. I know there's an argument for text chat but I guess having never really played a 'true' mmo, I just do what most console people do and chat. GTA online style. You can make tons of buddies over the mic.

Granted orchastrating a major siege over gangsta rap in voice chat is a special kind of ironic, and text chat could help there. I have never really fellt there was no sense of community, the opposite actually.

If you decide to circle back to ESO and play on ps4 maybe we can play a dungeon or something.

Communication on consul is very difficult. I can't stand zoning into a city and having the voice chat auto change to that channel. Having 10 year olds scream obsenities in my ear has often driven me to play with the sound off. Text chat is easily ignored and makes it easy to block immature players.

yeah i agree. Every time i get into a area chat i have to leave it right away due to the squeekers screaming in their mics, not to mention the people that use kinects for mics... OH MY GOD.

I wonder why console doesn't use push to talk? i know keys are limited but there must be something to bind it to, but i think the biggest issue with PS4 at least is there's no sensitivity control so it picks up everything and u cant lower it, i mean that's basic on ts3 etc.

Settings -> Devices -> Audio Devices -> Microphone Level

Just no one seems to know where it is, or if they do they don't take the time to filter out background noise levels.

Dunno, I know fiddling with it made my mic stop showing activity continuously if I had it on. I'd imagine it impacts the threshold somehow.

Either way it doesn't help the fact that it needs a Push-to-talk function.

Nothing like barking dogs and screaming people. You also got to love people blasting there crap music. I don't understand why we can't simply type looking for 1 more tank for (insert dungeon name). The keyboard works wonderful for typing in game mails when it's working.

i agree this game will only benefit from text chat I know of several people with no mics due to theirs breaking or just to damn shy to talk.. it would greatly improve game for these people instead of having to type a xbl message and having it re relayed to group from someone... if they could just have a group chat text or guild chat text would make it so much easier to play with them. i personally would love text be easier to sell items to people as well instead of them having to find your guild store especially if you allowed linking of items in it a trade chat chan would also clear up some of the random area chat as well i would hope.

hmm, well neverwinter has text chat and its terrible. Voice chat is good. Just leave area chat and join a guild channel. Real cities are full of people screaming random stuff too.

What's the best way for actually finding a good guild, in your opinion, in order to join said guild channel?

I'm new to the game and this is my first MMO it seems pretty fun but it definitely sucks to hear teenagers and young adults screaming whenever I'm near a cluster of players. That said we're console guys and we can't expect features pc guys get.

Conclusion is they obviously don't care, i've played much much much worse games with bad devs who have responded well before now, i have NO idea what these devs are doing 24/7 but clearly not giving a care for it's fans, and that means one thing, cash milking.

I no longer play any of the group based content.

on PC, I enjoyed doing the group and public dungeons, and was starting to get (in my own opinion) quite good at being a healer. In the couple of weeks before console transfer, I found out how much fun going in to cyrodiil and taking keeps was.

But I don't do that now.

I have a mic, but I don't like using it, as I share a house with several others, and It's annoying for them. I don't really like talking into microphones anyway, as it feels like i'm talking to myself. But even when I have tried it... there is no response because NO-ONE ELSE IS USING THEIR MIC EITHER.

I tries grouping again today... but it was aimless. There was no plan. Pretty much no advantage to being grouped. we didn't kill all the bosses in the Halls of the Dead, but couldn't discuss the possibility of where he might be because we couldn't communicate.

Good job I still have solo content left.

Absolutly NO! Don't bother wasting time with a text box chat. Especially on a console! Work on the voice chat, maybe add more channels or something. But texting chat is the past. This game is the future.

Are you on something? have you seen final fantasy 14 on PS3/PS4/PC? Text chat is the future, especially for dead people...

I've never played neverwinter or any mmo. The only barometer I have for text chat is I played Diablo 3 on pc for about a year. I could see text chat being useful for sure. I like to be able to kill my Mic and still communicate but I'm on a console and consoles and *** talking to hand and hand. Lol
