Maintenance for the week of April 13:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 13
Update 50 is now available for testing on the PTS! You can read the latest patch notes here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/categories/pts

Read a lot of complaints about the CS lately.

I think it is actually a good system as ZoS proposed the thing. "A horizontal progression system" unfortunately what was delivered was a vertical progression system.

I think much of the dislike could be repaired by simply changing the passives to horizontal passives.

Just my two cents

It's not a true horizontal system. It feels very vertical.

You will find out no matter what they do people on the forums will complain. Its just what they do. They dont like vet ranks, they dont like champ system, they dont like having to get new gear, dont like new content, dont like lack of new content and on and on.

That is very constructive message - complain about complainers.

But on point - OP you are right of course. C system is very vertica, whats worse the fabled diminishing returns are minimal. I would recommend everyone who thinks cs is great - download PTS, get Vr 14 and try adding some cp do some content adding some more and so on and so on up untill 3600. Now think about that some players are closeing 1000 cp already. Thenk come back and tell me what you think.

Noone is "closing on 1000". There was one person who posted a faked screenshot. So please stop spreading this lie as if its fact.

About 20-30 vocal complainers on the forums. 1000s of people happily playing the game. I hope ZOS takes a look at that.

The number of players who use the forums vs active players is a tiny fraction. If they actually did stop listening to the vocal players on the forums who complain... Well, they would practically need shut the forum off itself. Really not a whole lot of players post here to begin with.

Hell over half the players who even voiced a complaint are banned now anyways.

ZOS needs to learn like other MMOs these people "voicing concerns" will never be happy. They hated the vet rank system. They hate the champ system. They will hate whatever if they decide to scrap both VR and CP for. They simply are never happy. Ive been playing MMOs for years and one of the biggest mistakes they make is listening to a vocal minority over the concerns of the people who are happily playing. WoW learned that the hard was losing millions of subs because they made the game too easy to level up and gear up. The hardcores quit because its too easy. The casuals quit because again its too easy they got handed everything then boredom set in.

I think your missing connection i was trying to draw, those "happy thousands" dont read/post/contribute to the forums. How are we supposed to know what they think, or even that they are in fact happy. I can 10000000% tell you there is not a single player in this game that does not have a gripe with at least one singular aspect of the game. Creating a forum thread to discuss changes is literally the entire point of a forum.

I bought this game for PvP, I wanted to play inside imperial city, i can tell you i have waited a very very long time for PvP content. I have been waiting since release for my update. Nothing would make me happier than ZoS doing content patches and not balance updates. But realistically they dont have enough people working there to have a reasonable turn out rate so they settle with changing ability values and not adding content.

If you want to see less people complaining all they need to do is their job. Its the huge gap between updates with no to very minimalistic information that gets everyone stir crazy and full of rage.

I agree, and the problem of serial complainers is always magnified a hundred fold in those MMOs which have a significant PvP element - simply because in any PvP encounter some players will die, and that will lead those players to blame everything but their own ability - class balance and performance being the favourite targets for their frustration together with the claim that the victors are exploiting and the developers do nothing about it. Most (not all) of the regular complaints on this forum are PvP-related.

I enjoy the PVP as I don't take it seriously as it's just a game. I died? Oh. I'll get a Rez and go right back into the field. Someone has got 300+ champion points to my amount? Meh I don't have the time nor the will to grind for 12 plus hours a day. I do just fine in dungeons and stuff. I mainly die to Zerg trains in PVP as opposed to anything else.

End of the day, it's a game. A fun hobby to while away a few hours a week on. If anyone else wants to take it seriously, then that's their right to.

And you are never going to please all of the people all of the time. Or even most of the people half of the time. MMO forums are full of people wanting the game their way or no way. I understand the need to be vocal about bugs and server lag and those problems. Nothing else.

What is there to complain about in PvE?

Leveling has been nerfed so only a disconnect could kill you, Trials are only about speed on leaderboard and the trial itself is no longer a challenge. Not enough carrot on a stick for gear progression in dungeons. VDSA is about to become way way harder since you cant just hold block. ect.

I imagine you see the PvP community complaining more often since our end game is apparently rank 50 alliance war. PvE end game is fully geared. One has an end and the other basically does not. Once that PvE player is done min/maxing gear they can now stress free do anything in the PvE content they want. Heck even solo achievement hunting!

PvP... you are in the same space no matter what you want to do: solo ganking you sit next to a seiged keep or between them. Group play you ask in whispers if another guild wants to go head to head, or you blob across the map until everyone quits.

You log in the next day to see what colors are painted on your campaign, If its all enemy and your fighting 2-3 pop bars down you dont get to play PvP today.

The vocal PvP base i would imagine comes from the same exact zone since release. Take this same game without trials, DSA, undaunted pledges, craglorn to see how much of a vocal PvE base you would have.

Whats left to talk about other than balance if you literally dont get content updates?

I mean, get where you're coming from @jamesharv2005ub17_ESO, but I kinda feel like you're participating in argumentum ad hominem, and not really refuting what the people who are unhappy with the system are saying.

I tend to fall on the side of folks aren't too happy with the VR/CP system, but I am always open to opposing views. I think it would help if you expanded on why you feel these folks are wrong.

They didnt like vet ranks so ZOS listened. Spent 6 months developing the champion system. Again they didnt like it. So now yet again we are back to the drawing board. Meanwhile the game is floundering because noone is developing new content. No matter what they do some people will be unhappy with it. What I am saying to the people who are unhappy with the champion system is basically either deal with it or leave.

Maybe after they put in these zones they been delaying for a year they can work on balancing the system more.

Problem is, people are doing exactly what you suggest: leaving.

You can't have a successful MMO that has a problem retaining players.

The reason people are leaving is the lack of content and constant nerf/buff balancing they have done for months. You retain players by constantly adding new things to do. Not constantly changing how leveling works. Not constantly messing with class skills etc. Enough already we havent had anything besides craglorn since launch. This is why people are leaving. not because of champ system or vet ranks.

@jamesharv2005ub17_ESO : you know how many CP people have, you know how many people are satisfied with the game as it is and with ZOS´ plans for the future, you know why people are leaving and at the same time you tell other people they are not in the position to know anything....

Even if you were given proof of people having enough CP to create imbalance you would neglect it. You´re not better than anyone else here, imo even worse because you complain about other users expressing their oppinion - complaining about complainers -.

James.. I luv you and all and I respect the fact that you are a champion knight of the CP system and you continue to fight the good fight, but fact is you are WRONG
There are people leaving the game after finding out about how bad the CP system is. You have well known members of this community that are showing undisputable proof of the advantage that CP gives players.

You can say what you want to, but after 6 months there will be NOBODY buying/ joining this game because the word will get out and the players will become educated even more on how much of a gap there truly is for any new player that would like to join.
MMO's survive by the incoming players being greater than the players leaving.. If this system stays as it is now.. The numbers will NOT be good man.

There would be no need for constant balancing if initial design was done properly. Not to mention that many of those nerfs and buffs seem very rushed. I agree its not fun when every 3 months game balance makes 180' turns but is it players fault?

And the same in my opnion is true with that fragment: "They didnt like vet ranks so ZOS listened. Spent 6 months developing the champion system. Again they didnt like it. So now yet again we are back to the drawing board". Were those systems designed by players, that you now blaming us for very unfortunate systems? Because i hope you do undesrtand they are faulty.

    There is proof!

Deltia himself even made a post on here like yesterday about it.. And if you think he doesn't know ESO in and out you are CAHRAZY!
