Question about the removal of the veteren system.

Ok so, I've heard alot of talk about how they are trying to remove the veteren system and all that. My question is, what will the criteria be for acquiring the Mannimarco costume once this happens, because as it stands now you have to get VR10?

No one knows, and Zenimax isn't saying. The veteran system isn't going to go away for quite some time, if ever. Everything, and I mean absolutely everything about the entire game would have to change in order for them to implement that.

The last I heard out of the mouth of a ZOS employee was during ESO live, Jason Leavey stated, that they are not going to revamp the end game, and that they are going to make Silver and Gold more accessible, I think they are just going to drop the term VR and we will be known as level what ever, Gold and silver will still be around to complete your leveling to what ever that equates to in terms of level. Things are subject to change so who knows really.

I'm REALLY hoping they read our posts regarding the removal of Vet Ranks. In this post (http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/174148/level-50-80-vr-replacement-new-ish-concept/p1) I suggest they simply add 30 "regular" levels to the game. This would mean players would receive the Mannimarco costume at level 68. (conversion chart is on my thread )

Woah... really? Did they really say they might change Silver and Gold?

And MY question is how much stink will be kicked up from people that have worked their way all the way to VR-whatever only to have it removed?

I'm sure that when/if it happens they will be compensated in some way but I'm also pretty sure that they still won't be happy.

They'll use such statements as "why should we suffer because some noobs were complaining" or "L2P" or something equally block headed.

People don't like having their stuff taken away.. Especially if they've worked towards and earned it.

Well if they compensate accordingly it will be fine. People will just complain to complain. I can't stomach playing this game right now. I'm vr 7 and I almost want to force myself to play just to get the mannimarco costume, but if they remove the VR system before I do, will they still have the costume? Or will I be able to get it via a specific level or whatever system they switch to? This is what has me a little worried. I just can't see forcing myself to play for a silly costume, despite me wanting it, and not having a clue how they are going to go about changing the system anyway.

But what would be an "acceptable compensation"?

It will be very interesting to see how this cookie crumbles.

Your right about some people complaining just because they can.
I think the complainers should try and make a game of equal scale and see how easy it isn't.

Well, ZoS has taken up the habit of keeping quiet until something is actually going to happen, a lesson we made them learn.
That said, silence doesn't mean never or even a long time, it just means not right now.

This is assuming that VR levels will be eradicated rather than replaced, which is unlikely as @Akavir_Sentinel aptly pointed out everything would change. They can't afford to change everything as they don't have the time or resources to do so, so if/when VR are removed they will be replaced making all of the end game gear just as viable as before; VR 14 players will lose nothing and gain nothing. If anything, they lost the opportunity for more gear earlier on to later vendor off.

Why add 30 "regular" levels when they already have a progression measuring system (that by the way is about 30 for current VR14) and that's called Champion Points ?

VR 14 is basically lvl50 with 13 000 000 xp, that's lvl 50 with 32.5 CP (ppl that were given 70 CP on 1.6 should be happy bout that btw, even those who had to grind 1 432 550 xp per vet level).

Veteran Points where removed back in October with 1.5. We can safely assume by that time they already had a plan to deal with the gear and other matters. (you don't begin to change the whole progression system if you don't have a single clue where you're going)

Some concepts of the game might change again, but change is good, 1.6 was a step in the right direction I believe.
Questions remain as to whether gear will change with CP or maybe scale ? (that would be interesting to see what ppl can achieve with gear that scale up with 300+ CP ^^)

As for the OP question, VR10 is about 22 CP, why not give it away by that cap and maybe add new ones after 30 CP...

@Carter_DC, if ZOS were to just outright remove Vet Ranks we would need some way of dealing with VR gear and recipes, skill points, and Attribute points.. I don't think tying them to CP is a good plan because players earn CP prior to level 50.

I have no idea what ZOS is planning, I have my thoughts of what a good system would be and I've touched on it some in the past. It's none too popular either. hehe. I like the idea of continued regular level cap increases for progression. Most seem to want a hard level cap with CP progression only. I fear that if that happens within 3 months we will be seeing threads about how boring and dull and grindy CPs are

I never understood what the heck people were thinking calling for removal of the veteran system.

They already nerfed difficulty to the ground, so what more could people possibly want?

Take away access to 2/3 of the quest and exploration content in the game unless you roll another faction? Great, even LESS to do when you hit max rank!

Change it from a level cap of v14 to level 60 or whatever? What would be the point? Meaningless cosmetics. A rank is a rank.

The whole thing just seems rather silly to me. Like people complaining just for the sake of complaining.

Only lvl 50- that got CP are alts of VR character that are the only ones able to "earn" CP...
(i wasn't saying lvl 3 char with 300 cp could equip post lvl 50 gear)

btw, food and pots now scale up with levels, why couldn't it be the same for gear ? (not saying it won't be dull and i hope this will be more challenging and rewarding)

CP1 gear would scale up to CP29, and cp 30 gear would scale up to cp 299... Just like the champion passives, 0.1 stat point at a time^^.
That way, you always gain something, however little that is.

They could also implement lvlved gear throught CP, means every CP earned increes the Stats from the Gear.

Converting V lvls in "normal" lvls is absolut sensless.

But anyway, the removal of the V-System will not be that easy, they have to Remake the whole game. repelace the whole mats, crafting, dungeons, difficulty, Balance,

It's the carrot on the stick. People are more willing to do the exact same thing they have been if the illusion of "reward" is more readily apparent, even if that reward is temporary at best. This is why the CoD franchise depends on the Prestige Mode in multiplayer even though the mode offers absolutely nothing new of any value aside from asthetics. Its the market attempting to balance the reality of delayed gratification with the ideoligy of instant gratification. Gratify them now with meaningless carrots until they achieve what they wanted to begin with.

I would like to leave a shameless plug post about my own thread which I started regarding possible alternatives to the removal of Veteran Ranks.

It's in my signature; I hope to get your support on the matter - that is, if you're interested.

    Cheers.
