No crit damage from shadowy disguise?

So I'm using shadowy disguise morph and I can't tell a bit of difference since I started using it when I supposedly crit after casting it. Yes I'm using it within the 2.5 secs. I use veiled strike immediately after and I can't tell a bit of difference in damage now although I'm supposedly critical hitting with it now

Shadowy disguise guarantees a crit so you do a bit more damage. However it does not grant you the stealth crit dmg multiplier that you get from being in regular sneak, which is probably why you feel like your shadow disguise hit isn't so impressive compared to what you were expecting

So I think what your saying is I was already getting bonus damage from sneak so the crit isn't adding that much more?

Every single physical attack from sneak (Crouched Stealth) carries a massive damage bonus as well as a 100% Crit chance if the target was hit from behind. This damage bonus is known as the sneak attack damage bonus. The damage bonus from a sneak attack is somewhere round 100%. Also, do note that Magicka based skills gain no bonus damage from sneak attacks (Other then the free Crit)

However, when you are landing a critical attack from out of stealth (Invisablity does not equate to stealth), you'll only get a base 50% extra damage from landing the critical hit. As shadowy disguise only ensures a critical hit, you will not get any bonus damage (Other then from Steathy Racial or Master Assassin passives) from the follow up hit other then the base bonus for landing a critical hit. In addition, as a sneak attack is already a free critical hit, shadowy disguise serves no purpose in upping this damage.

Ok Ty for explaining that, so basically I'm getting 50% extra or the crit hit? Also I'm sure this will show up more as I level and crit hits count for more

Let me give you an example.

Tom and Jerry are both Nightblades, but Tom is a stamina based Nightblade whereas Jerry is a magicka based Nightblade. Therefore, Tom is using Surprise Attack whereas Jerry is using Concealed Weapon (Surprise Attack and Concealed Weapon are both morphs of Veiled Strike). On their tooltips, Tom's SA will hit for 1000 physical damage, while Jerry's CW will hit for 1000 magic damage.

Now, Tom and Jerry decide to sneak up on some mobs. They crouch down, and each sneak behind the same target and unleash their attacks. As Tom is using a physical damage skill, Tom's SA will hit for 2000 physical damage whereas Jerry's CW will hit for 1500 damage as it is magicka based.

Now out of stealth, the mob in question stands up and starts fighting back. Tom and Jerry both activate their Shadowy Disguises, ensuring their next attack will be a crit. They then slash the mob again. This time, Tom does 1500 physical damage while Jerry does 1500 magic damage as they are no longer "In sneak", and therefore will not have the stealth bonus applied.

Later on, Tom and Jerry decide to go sneaking up on mobs again. This time, both of them crouch down, and sneak behind the same target. However, this time they both activate Shadowy Disguise before attacking. Tom's SA will hit for 2000 physical damage, whereas Jerry's CW will hit for 1500 magic damage.

I hope this example clears up any doubts regarding sneak attack mechanics of ESO
