I am hoping they are considering a way of breaking the voip into multiple servers or "channels" to allow more separation. It would be nice if the voice chat system could auto create a group/guild/raid channel based on the current situation.

there will always be 1 dude trolling around with music, talking *** etc....sadly lol

I'm so glad I play on PC. And there were even requests to have the in-build voice on PC.

a lot of people want group voice chat.

    no one wants proximity/area chat.

    just to be clear.

Speak for yourself, I wouldn't mind proximity chat only. Zone chat should go.

In literally EVERY VIDEO ZOS makes the freaking characters MAIN ATTACK is a freaking LIGHT ATTACK.

    what the .....

I think somebody should tell ZOS how to use skills.
Aww, don't be like this. They tried to kill a netch in a group of four, they had to use only light attacks or it wouldn't have gone down in a second. :)

Seems like with some of the features that are different from pc to console, you must learn from the lesson of Master Yoda, "You must first unlearn that you have learned" it will take some time then it will become second nature.

You pretty much have to leave area chat if you want to maintain any semblance of sanity.

    That seems pretty silly, really.

The only way to get voice chat to not be terrible is to turn it off. : /

Way to go, ZOS. If only anybody had seen this coming....

I would have just been happy with a chat box like the pc got. Honestly I feel helpless to communicate with folks and I do have a good headset and can be heard and hear others in many other games. This one players either ignore or they are just keying in the mic and nothing to say. Voice can be awesome but there needs to be a physical backup like the pc chat box for those just in case moments like right now. As for saying console players don't get the chat shortcuts for quick chat. That is just BS cause they can read and look at help menus like anyone else. I am on ps4 right now and I have no problem reading enough to figure it out. It is like others have said nobody is using them yet.

You know most console players probably don't know about the quick chat function to use.So give people the benefit of the doubt .

The adding people to guilds I will agree with they need to add a way to invite players quicker.

This. I had a guy spamming asking about how to get to other areas claiming that he is stuck forever in Daggerfall and that he though he would be in Skyrim etc. Over and over and over again. A lot of noobs that don't understand or get the game, which in time will get better.

But agree, Voice chat is pretty bad. In a group or with guild I think it is fantastic, but in the open where a lot of us would use to trade/recruit and sell items it is a big failure. A chat box needs to be added like the PC version, make it optional even if you want.

Got a video in going to upload to YouTube showing this, but all forms of chat in the console version are bad. I've had to resort to going in an xbox live party in my own, because I was spending more time muting players. I either had kinects to close to the tv, kids screaming, music and best of all, a group of people all speaking languages u don't understand.
Initially I was trying to recruit for our guild, which is almost impossible! Because the first thing is being heard over all the noise, the second part is having to write gamertags as there is no easy way off adding them.

Then there is the awesome quick chat function that not a single person is using..Seriously, been on around 12 hours now a not seen a single person use it.

Seriously ZOS, something needs to change drastically.
Lmao yea well we tried to tell em, again.

The best part about this is that it is probably more than marketing drivel.

It is probably how they genuinely imagined it working.

Turned it off the second I logged on. Spatial VC is only fun when you're the drunk who's blasting ones surroundings with the works of the Russolo Brothers. Educate the people, eh.

It's yet another occasion of a futile attempt at educating ZOS, that you not only do not need to reinvent the wheel, but it's rather recommendable to at least leave it attached to the cart.

You can just leave the area channel in voice chat instead of such an odd workaround.

If ZOS refuses to give console gamers a chat box, would ZOS consider the quick chat be given the ability for custom phrases?

What I mean is, instead of the pre-selected quick chat comments, let us customize like linking an item into a quick chat command. For example, have preset WTS (Want to Sell) and then allow players to link an item. Or have a pre-set "Join Guild" and then let the user put in a guild name.

At least with this way, there is a way to communicate on selling goods or recruiting without spamming voice commands all the time.

I am sure it will get refined as time goes along. It's only been out part of a day and there are I am sure many changes coming to the console version. I just turn the volume on my headset down, mute my mic and ignore the area chat for the most part. That and EVERYONE is grouped together in starting zones right now since it's launch so i am sure you will start hearing less and less clutter as people spread out more.

Odd man out, but I really don't want them to add text chat. If there's text chat then the community is going to be expect everyone to use it, and the last thing I want to do is sit there with a keyboard in my lap while I'm playing.

Agreed they need an easier/quicker way to mute someone though.

My first experience with voice went pretty much as I feared.

Started a new character, in the prison.

As Lyris was talking to me with quest instructions, someone shouted loudly about potions drowning her out.
    This happened 3 times.

As I was wondering around looting stuff, I was looting near where Cadwell is, I then heard a muffled but loud echoey Cadwell giving someone else quest instructions that were obviously coming out of their TV speakers straight into their mike.

Finally I was ready to listen to Cadwell, I hear him say about 3 words then I hear a man and a woman shouting at each other in what I think was German, sounded like he was yelling at her while she was in another room, again drowning out everything Cadwell was saying.

Totally ruining any immersion for me.

My only choice, put player voice volume to 0 and have zero way of communication.
