All forms of chat on the console version are complete failures!

Got a video in going to upload to YouTube showing this, but all forms of chat in the console version are bad. I've had to resort to going in an xbox live party in my own, because I was spending more time muting players. I either had kinects to close to the tv, kids screaming, music and best of all, a group of people all speaking languages u don't understand.
Initially I was trying to recruit for our guild, which is almost impossible! Because the first thing is being heard over all the noise, the second part is having to write gamertags as there is no easy way off adding them.

Then there is the awesome quick chat function that not a single person is using..Seriously, been on around 12 hours now a not seen a single person use it.

Seriously ZOS, something needs to change drastically.

Maybe you can educate people on things. Don't assume they played on PC or that they realize others can hear them.

As soon as I logged in, I went to the starter zone, and the absolutely first thing I hear is some guy playing music through his microphone

My mind just went "*** called it" and turned off voice chat.

SAO Like. it's pretty immersive.

But yeah, it can be annoying. We need dedicated place.

One for recruitement, for group, for sell, etc.
And visual sign, like a flag on your hands to show people you want recruit in your guild - as exemple.

You know most console players probably don't know about the quick chat function to use.So give people the benefit of the doubt .

The adding people to guilds I will agree with they need to add a way to invite players quicker.

I had some Aussie trying to harrass me.

But. All you have to do is actually leave the 'Area' Chat and youll be fine.

I still want in game voice on PC. They just need to allow toggles for it like restricted to party only e.t.c.
It's great for managing pugs when you can't quite get a full group together.

Well, zone chat must come soon, but I actually think it was better to go without zone chat for the launch. Imagine all that venting.

Yes now the main release is out.
The in game voip is horrible - honestly you are surrounded by loud noises, it's pretty annoying.
The social menu is nice, but writing out someones gamertag like xx-n-a-m-e-xx is going to get old real fast!

Voice chat is nice for small groups but anything more it's just not working man, to much going on to be enjoyable.
please look into it.

Also i played on eu server from 2pm till 6am xD with breaks - not 1 single dungeon popped in group finder.

I spoke to a player earlier. I told him that I could hear his music playing in the background & that most ppl will block him. He said he didn't realize, turned it off & thanked me for the heads up.

Problem solved.

Or we can promote mass hysteria on a Def Leppard size scale.

I was curious to see what proximity chat would be like... it's one of those things that sounds great on paper but in practice it's not so useful. It worked in Halo back in the day, but then none of the people I played with had kids screaming, dogs barking, cell phones ringing, etc etc ... is it that MMO players do it in public, whereas FPS players prefer distraction-free privacy?

No idea but I've turned it off now, and probably won't turn it back on until I'm at least away from crowded areas.

Also don't like PSN names showing up as player names. Why do our characters have names? They may as well be numbers for the select screen...:p

Trying to recruit for a guild is absolutely abysmal. Typing in gamer tags as the only option to add a member is just plain mind boggling. There is a wonderful game beneath these collosal screw ups but good lord did ANYBODY think this through and flesh out the guild process ?

Of course I was told what a wonderful panacea of bliss this no text chat proximity voice chat would be.

There were some twitch streamers last night playing the audio of area chat and let's just say , screams , burps , rock music , dogs , Tourette's syndrome rants , and even an air horn were heard often.

Most amusing.

You're making it hard...it's very simple (it's different from Pc but not harder)

When time to invite, have them meet you somewhere and hold the menu button.
Select invite...

I am hoping they are considering a way of breaking the voip into multiple servers or "channels" to allow more separation. It would be nice if the voice chat system could auto create a group/guild/raid channel based on the current situation.
