No ZOS marketing bs answers. No comparing MMOs to 5 player party MP console games, no FPS games.
No need for arguing at all....just answer 'Why not have text chat as optional?'
Exactly. That's been the question that those in favor of text chat won't answer....
Then somehow they try and deflect the question saying we are trying to make them play like us.
Funny as there are 0 threads saying hey PC Ppl, you need to stop using text chat on PC

The reason why I want to play on console is because I'm a console player that has been waiting a year to play the game on console with my friends. The reason why I think text chat should be put back into the console version is that without it a fundamental part of the game play will be missing. Without a way to communicate to other members of your Alliance that are not in your group or guild in Cyrodiil means that you are no longer fighting an Alliance War.

cus those people only see from an mmo player perspective and they don't understand that from an Elder Scrolls player perspective it is a bad feature to have, but the devs are trying to appeal to both players, but mmo players are never happy they are needy and can be very annoying.. Another reason I don't like mmos

Thats simple really I'm the only one of my friends who owns a pc, so they don't even have copies of the pc version. Some bought the new consoles to play this game. We all want to play together. If I want to play with my friends it will have to be console. ZOS when through all the trouble of adding voice chat, we want to use it(hell voice chat is a great idea) but they need to at least incorporate solutions/fixes to all the key features that are missing without a chat box or worst case add it back as optional.

Irony.
Console platform games have to go through a approval process before they are allowed onto console. You won't find Console games crashing because it's a set hardware, no differences. No different drivers, no different hardware, OS is set, there is nothing different from one console to another(Xbox to Xbox).
PC is totally different, many variables.

ZOS when through all the trouble of adding voice chat, we want to use it(hell voice chat is a great idea) but they need to at least incorporate solutions/fixes to all the key features that are missing without a chat box or worst case add it back as optional.
Don't worry voice chat will work just fine, its not the horror show everyone is making it out to be cus they want text chat window in.. its a manipulative tactic that I don't fall for... voice chat is a perfect fit for ESO..
So how will you communicate with hundreds of guildies? Or large groups in Cyrodiil? Hell, you can't even talk to your PSN party members and ESO party members at the same time. Yeah, sounds like a great fit for ESO...
Right, but it's the only form of communication in the game, and it's missing some very essential functions...

I have fought in Cyrodiil and I don't communicate with anyone and it works just fine! Besides headset will be your friend as im sure they are innovating options for those reasons..
I see they let you out forum jail. Welcome back.

A constant crash report that's your answer? lmao
You that dumb that you don't understand how your ESO client crashing every time you go into town, or go interact with NPCs, wouldn't crush your PC experience? It's still an ongoing issue for me since 1.6.5, so yes...I will move to console.
I play both platforms, and MMOs should have text chat regardless of where they are.
Irony.
Console platform games have to go through a approval process before they are allowed onto console. You won't find Console games crashing because it's a set hardware, no differences. No different drivers, no different hardware, OS is set, there is nothing different from one console to another(Xbox to Xbox).
PC is totally different, many variables.
I hate to say it, but @Argoniawind is right in the sense that on a PC you can diagnose and resolve the issue (in most cases). On a console, you can download the latest update for your hardware/game and that's about it. If it fails, it fails completely.

Red ring of Death isn't a games fault, it was the console's problem. You want to know what the root cause was of that issue? The heatsin that covered the CPU, it warped and caused the CPU to to disconnect from the MB connections and the Red ring of death. The fix for this was the quick fix, wrap the Xbox 360 in the towel and let it overheat causing the solder to reconnect the CPU to the MB. The permanent fix, if you didn't fry the CPU already...open the Xbox and use new, longer bolts on the heatsink and tighten it down so the CPU has a firm connection.
On a PC, I have to consider so many variables with the end user, what MOBO, what video card, what memory, how much, what HD, RAID vs SATA vs IDE, what soundcard, what network card....then all the driver versions that go with that. For console, I can go to Target and buy Xbox One, get a developer kit, and know that I have a baseline system to develop on.
So...Since I have text chat in my PC version, and i'm porting it over to Console...I leave text chat in and require a keyboard with a Enter key and code that to listen to that event to initiate chatting on console.

-conclusion-
If the PC version has the type of communication you prefer....stay on PC
If there is something on PC that you don't like and something on console you do like more....change
If you like text chat...stay on PC
If you prefer voice chat and controller support, move to console
If you feel like ZOS needs to change the UI or other elements on console so that it's more like PC....stay on PC
Apparently people just have money to throw away cause IF your PC is up to spec, and you want text chat....why would you ever change over.
Maybe you have a friend on console....O K, then play with them on voice chat but don't try and change console cause your buddy can't afford or doesn't want to buy a new PC. Also the same applies in reverse.
Get in where you fit in....keep it moving

Thing is all those multiplayer games you like to fire off as examples, Destiny, COD, BF ... can be played with-out even using voice-chat so your arguement there is moot & invalid.Freedom of not having to type when voice chat is built into the systems also adds value to a players experience.

No freedom is having the choice to use voice or text, or even both (prolly the case for most people here). I was referring to the games themselves. I've mentioned before my career (other thread). I know why things break, I know what code breaks things, I know what the difference is between a 'baseline' system and a 'variable' system.
When I submit an app or game to Xbox, I have to pass many tests that go beyond my own QA. The game passes when it plays through stress tests on console, representing a players experience.
Red ring of Death isn't a games fault, it was the console's problem. You want to know what the root cause was of that issue?
