Yeaa its very odd how hard they are fighting this really dont understand how a feature that is optional, needs to be removed.

Remove all mounts!
Same thing, could even use all the cliche "flying ruins mmos " excuses as to why i need my ground mount removed.
Typical tho instead of using whats worked for the last 2 years, lets redo that part ....
Funny i thought zos was going to focus on "content" and stop "reworking " the game cause it needs to "breath " for a bit... Right after we remove zone chat and create an entirely NEW system ....

But it's not working for console. That's the big point from a developer standpoint.
Look at the MMO console games that aren't on cross platform server situations and the population is small by doing what has existed on PC for the last 20 years in some form or fashion as far as communication on consoles.
Now let's look at Destiny, BF, COD which have millions per game per platform and all have no text chat.
We can continue to go back n forth in this thread but proof wise...console games with voice chat only far exceed the games with mixed communication.
Even the PC ports of multiplayer games that decided to remove text chat from console where it exists on PC are selling millions of copies.
Go with what's proven over the 2 years.....
This is exactly what they are doing

LOL....who knows...
I wish they released what they presented with the Kinect as optional
Others were not into an online only console which is funny cause both are online only if you want to play due to day 1 updates and patch updates for most games.
Anyways, my point is that the Xbox one more closely resembles a PC (Win 8) while PS4 is more of a typical console
Ppl voted with their $ so it's pretty evident that console only folks are liking the less like a PC system

Only until it starts pumping out PC-like quality and power. At that point, may as well just buy a PC. Would love to see a console push an i7 3770k, GTX670, and SSD qualities for $500.00.
Destiny is the closest one and it doesn't have trading...and the pvp maps are

ROFL...yeah
Look at the Surface Pro 3 $1000-$2000 and it's not graphically spec'd
The console market complained about $500 Xbox One and a $599 or $699 PS3
Definite growth in Xbox One sales over the last 6 months, at least from my perspective. Under the hood I think you've got it backwards; this generation the PS4 is very PC-like while the Xbox One has a weird memory configuration or something going on PC's don't.
Software wise I see what you're saying, and I think that's why people are likening to the Xbox; word is out that the DRM tastes like icecream and the updates are sprinkles aplenty - people are looking at the knurled thumbsticks, the Forza-s and realizing it's not a bad product for $350.Destiny is the closest one and it doesn't have trading...and the pvp maps are
Destiny is not an MMO in any way form or fashion in the same way that randomly having sex with several different prostitutes does not constitute an ***.
Stay classy!

Never said it was. Smurf is pulling things out his ass again trying to compare FPS that don't need text chat to MMOs that do. I was only giving him a pass on Destiny being marketed as a Open world FPS...and it even fails at that, because it's open world is instanced with out of bounds death.

So what about console games as a whole @uberkull ? Surely you can agree that the majority of games, especially those that have any form of multiplayer, have little to no text chat support like our current MMORPG games have.

Lol anything that makes logical sense but that makes the point of adding text chat in the OP's opinion seems not to be an acceptable points in this post.
Considering Xbox one has only Neverwinter which is a free game that isn't selling free copies anywhere near that of paid TESO on PC. The other games with text chat...like Warframe which is similar to Destiny...also free and not doing so well
Then you have game similar to Destiny....BF, COD, Titanfall, Farcry or games similar to Neverwinter like Dragon Age and Diablo 3
Which all sold better are a very valid comparison and notable cause some exist on PC too different than console.
Then...you realize console gamers favor certain types of experiences on console based on money spent and sales, a logical observation is that the common theme are multiplayer games of any genre that are user friendly and all lack the use of an external keyboard seem to sale a lot better on consoles today compared to console games with text chat when they are cheaper or free.
To suggest that ZOS should only consider what other MMO games do is not logical and none are selling well on console with text chat.
To suggest ZOS or anyone in this thread should throw out any non MMO games when considering to add or not to add text chat in TESO is also not logical but only makes sense if the OP wants to argue a limited perspective and make it sound as if his position is accurate and supported by masses.
Whether the inclusion or exclusion of text chat falls within or outside a players preferences, it's more than obvious that with the flaws or issues PC gamers constantly post on these threads, the game needs to align with top selling titles and support and target a similar user friendly approach to be successful as there are other hurdles that will be criticized.
We all like and dislike many things but to jump on a "MMO must have XYZ" regardless of platform is outside of a logic based approach. To say text chat need to be added to avoid bad reviews....well many of the articles so far praise the game and though some touch on the absence of text chat, the context isn't a negative one but pointing out that it's different.
The game is poised to launch inline with a console gamers typical experience which gives it the best chance to succeed and IF those customers largely request to add or remove certain features after release....ZOS would be wise to address and adjust but to do anything now is just no logical in this market

It's more than just player's preference, as it has been brought up in numerious threads before, removing text chat does nothing more than limit player choice & in other cases excludes them completely.Whether the inclusion or exclusion of text chat falls within or outside a players preferences, it's more than obvious that with the flaws or issues PC gamers constantly post on these threads, the game needs to align with top selling titles and support and target a similar user friendly approach to be successful as there are other hurdles that will be criticized.

Again, why are we comparing to games like Dragon Age 3 and COD instead of actual MMOs?
These comparisons are literally worthless. It's like saying Super Mario doesn't have text chat, so clearly multiplayer games don't need text chat.

Based on the games you are citing it sounds like what you want is a single player with co-op which while a common style of game on console it is not the same as MMO. If you want to talk about MMOs on console you should be mentioning FFXIV and DCUO both of which have done well on console and both of which have text chat.
I would also have to disagree with your experience of PvP working without text chat on beta. The lack of an ability to coordinate or even know if anyone else from your faction was even in the campaign was disturbing. As I predicted as soon as I read Jason's first reveal of their being no text chat it was no longer an Alliance wide conflict and was instead a place for roaming bands to find and gank each other. While the numbers were to small to possibly do a comparison to live I really can't see it playing out well long term without some means of effective Alliance wide communication.
