People need to realize no matter what game you play from Ultima Online down to this one you will always have to deal with higher level people that have played the game longer. Just a short story about low levels and a high level jerk who keep picking on people in UO. One day the lower level guys got fed up with his BS so they decided not to use their normal characters but made all level one's. These level one's (forgot how many there were) all took on this higher level and not only did they beat him but stole the key to his house and took it from him. That was a great day when the low level guys/gals showed they weren't push overs.
Moral of story is anyone can get beat you just need to use your head!
Wrong. Gw2 PVP is not like that at all. Players are scaled to the same level and gear doesn't make a difference. So clearly not EVERY game is that way.
First off, gear DOES matter, and even then all PVP is there is like watching a Starcraft 2 match where everyone is using Zerglings.
Gear does NOT matter in Gw2 PVP. SPVP is all scaled.. and to talk about zerging is to talk about this game. That is all the pvp is made up of sadly.
Very true .. it'll die because new players experience nothing but constant two-shotting and realise this is how it's going to be for months .. and figure life's too short and this game really isn't that great for them to want to endure that time simply to be able to even survive.Kael'Thremar wrote: »Which is why this game is going to fail. If the game does fail it won't be because of people like you that cry about getting killed in PVP!

um, have you PLAYED WPVP, ever? because that is EXACTLY what it is, even the players will tell you that.

Realization here: Ultima Online was a horribly made game that only survived cause it was the first MMO. if you tried to pass that off NOW a days it would fail faster then you can say "Wildstar and ESO"
also, one of the MAJOR things the devs were ALWAYS talking about is that ANYONE can PVP, that you are NOT forced to be higher level to succeed.
THIRDLY: in pretty much ALL MMO's someone who is max level with at least decent gear for it CAN PVP successfully, does not matter HOW long they have played, but as long as they are skilled and have the correct level then yeah.
As it is right now, VR levels should simply hav ebeen 51-64, as there is NO DIFFERENCE between the two. if they called it what it actually is, there would be a lot less hate at them. The reason they were called VETERAN ranks to begin with was to make it obvious they were not supposed to make the gap bigger and wider, it was supposed to be "vertical" progression.
We disagree on this and am so glad I never cried over PVP and learned how to deal with them in every game I have played. I have noticed the people that cry would be marked and killed over and over again. I also noticed when you laughed and told the guy good one you got me good would end up being left alone. To this day I love the cry baby's who keep getting killed over and over again, until they either learned to stop crying or quit the game.
So to all you cry babies BYE BYE!
Love just how much assumptions you make that are clearly false, are you 12?
I am not much of a PVPer at all, the problem here is the deception, once again, that ZOS has been pulling here. Like i said in the post, they have said several times you can PVP at any level with no problem, then they have the veteran ranks and champion system that are the EXACT opposite. veteran ranks are simply more levels you have to grind despite being told you are done leveling, and Champion system will become more and more of a gap where it will make PVP deader then dead.
Now, would love to see what would happen if YOU were told you can PVE at any level i nany dungeon, but then when you tried it you realized the only people who EVER stood a chance at it were those with A LOT of Champion points, and everyone else could not PVE.

If you must know am 60 and been in this for a heck of a long time. I won't attack you over age but I will attack you over how you have no clue on how to play these game. MMO's are not made just so you can level and have no risked associated with it. Hate to say it but people like you and the OP should go play minecraft or Skyrim because clearly you guys just aren't cut out for PVP and MMO's. Only thing I hate about these games is you can't kill and steal their loot. NOW that is real PVP!

If you think that well you must give lots of loot bags to your enemies... Gear matters there too.

Having quit leveling I decided to PVP (which is one of the aspects that had drawn me to the game in the first place) only to realize that new players will NEVER have a chance. Even if I were to endure the awful level grind that is Veteran Ranks, I would still not compare to the other VR14s who have already accumulated multiple champion points and maxed out there (ridiculously time sensitive) mount levels.
In short PVP was not an option because everywhere you go as a newer player you are 2 hit by the 2 hander nightblades.
This game has a long way to go to be worth anything but unfortunately it will die WAY before it gets there. With all the money they used trying to get it out to console gamer's could have been used on making it better for those who already play or are newly joining considering its not even going to be a big hit for consoles anyway.

After reading this hyperbole, which isn't true in any way, shape, or form, I can only come to one conclusion: OP didn't even remotely want to play the game. Now, it's certainly not my call to judge over what people do with their time and money, but rushing through this game, which ist so rich in storytelling and beautiful vistas, seems like an awful waste to me. Oh well...Kael'Thremar wrote: »I've been playing this game a little over 2 weeks straight and after ENDLESS questing am finally VR2. I am seriously DONE with questing. Dunno, I wouldn't call this a "review" by any stretch of the word. It's totally ok for him not to like it, but coming here and trash-talking it with outright lies? It's constructive criticism that changes things, not the other kind.Seems provocative to not like the game even one year after release.
Seems a bit childish to jump people who gives a review if you ask me, wich you probably doesnt, so I dont say it.

THIS, exactly THIS. I thought to myself, there is no way I am going to put that much dedicating into this game, making it a JOB, just to be viable. It should not have to be like that. Which is why the game will die.

As said many times here: you can't expect (in every MMO) to be new and have the same power as players, who play it for years. You say its unfair to new players? I say it is unfair to those, who've played it a year. We worked hard, to be at this point in game. As should you. You wanna quit after 2 weeks (which is ridicolous) then quit.
As for PvP: there will always be players, who are cleary better than you. Especially players, who known their Chars since 1 year. After 2 weeks - you don't know very much. Heck there are even Skills ingame which aren't useful in PVE but VERY useful in PvP. You die instantly? Stand up, go on. Join a Guild who does organized PvP Runs. Helps a LOT. And stop whining -.-
