You only need weapon and 2 armor pieces with nirnhoned to get max spell resistance or real close : 31500
7 light, infused on large, divines on small, mage stone, bananas in moon sugar syrup. Much better right? Yep.
You speak of opportunity cost. Tell me, what opportunity does all that nirn have to help you behind that ball and that ward? Almost none.

You die when you get CC'd and your shields are depleted, then the only thing that matters is living through the duration of it so you can shield yourself again. "Holding block" behind a ward is bad, and you should feel bad.
I bet you last about .5 seconds with 3k armor, magic resist, and green food on. Not to mention you probably have about 8k stamina and can break stun once, or maybe hold block for 2 seconds.
When you think about it, it might clearly be intended, because it makes crafted armor definitely superior to looted. Rip martial artist; ravaging, archmage and so on.
Its what the devs always said; crafted will remain superior.
Meanwhile all Magick builds end up having to become healers or reroll stamina to be effective. If players in Medium armor full DPS builds are able to get maximum *Passive* spell mitigation something is very wrong with the balance of the game. Anyone with a brain and a pulse can see how OP this trait is.
And that's the trick to further assume that it might be intended with the fact of crafted armor beeing superior to looted.
Stam wont get dps AND spell resist, they will have to choose. Crafted is not stam friendly. You must go Morag tong, Ravaging, Shadow walker's route etc to get the max weapon power. And that means no spell resistance for you ...

There are a few decent crafted options that you can mix with loot gear to up your spell resistance tremendously.
It's what most Stam builds are shifting to once they realize they can mitigate so much magic damage.

Well I've switched 2 of my pieces to Nirnhoned and am now rocking over 20K spell resistance. Going to switch out the other 2 pieces tonight. The best part is it *stacks* with freaking lightning form. If you think a sorc is hard kill with damage shields, wait until you see one rocking maximum spell resistance while he ignores casters and focuses down anything hitting him with physical damage.
This is so laughably OP in any other case other than ZoS doing this I'd be actually amazed this made it into a live version of the game.
Ezareth.... its clear you want this nerfed as your damage output is affected by it... i just find it funny how you go about it.
Its a very different view than you have on shield...
DK SCRUB OUT
As I said I'm focusing on stamina Templar anyways but....
Honestly reinforced is a better armor trait because not only does it ircrease spell resist, but increases physical resistance which helps against half the games damage and is useful on both med and heavy armor types.

Let's say ZoS nerfs Nirnhoned the way you guys are asking... what will really change? WIll the forums become a ghost town because PvP players are finally happy and have nothing to complain about? F*** NO! You guys will just move on to some other gripe, and PvE players will get the shaft AGAIN!

This is just fallacy. The benefits are night and day apart. Reinforced is based upon the base armor of the single piece it is applied to. Nirnhoned is base on your overall adjusted Spell Resistance (before nirnhoned modifiers). I lost 1000 armor and gained 19,000 Spell Resist. Any sane person would take that trade.

Let me understand this correctly.
You're a PvE player griping that PvPers in ESO are getting preferential treatment?
You understand you're about to be trolled, mocked, and generally laughed right off this forum, right?

You misunderstood the context. I meant for a more melee oreitned style. Of course more Spell Resist is better for a caster since your at range anyways and pretty much every ranged abilities outside of bows are spells. My Templar spends 60-70% of his time up in your face and most of those opponents are using sword and board, two handed, dual wield, or bows, all of which spell resistance is useless against. Furthermore, Nirnhoned will not help against Bow attacks either.
On my Sorc, if i was going to do it, yup, i would go Nirnhoned, but i won't because i feel its broken and totally unfair. I do not however blame you for doing so on your Sorc, I don't expect nor would i ever assume anyone to hold the same standards i hold for myself, everyone is their own person and needs to do what they are comfortable with, im in no position to judge. that being said, it makes sense for you to do it so you can survive ranged spells that make up half the games projectiles that can hit you while playing a ranged style. Other Sorc's and other caster classes will have a very hard time hurting you.
Furthermore, if this is working as intended, then Casters and Sorc's will be useless within a month.Everyone will be running Nirnhoned Armor and the Guild Markets will be flooded with Nirnhoned gear, and their are lots of players with mega tons of gold that buying them will be no issue at all, as Nirhoned becomes more common in the market prices will fall like they always do.
I thought two BOL Sorc's fighting(prior to the bugging of the balls of course) was a long drawn out painful affair, but good lord...two casters with Nirhoned fight on top of Damage Shields and BOL....I hope folks have a lot of coffee to keep them awake for that long drawn out fight.

They DO. Every single patch has a long-assed "Alliance War" section, but every time PvE problems are mentioned in the forums, ZoS just says "no firm date, not until after console launch blah blah blah".
They can laugh all they want, but they're DELUSIONAL if they don't realize that PvE has been afflicted with nerf after nerf after NERF because of PvP crybabies.

Siege can now be stacked in your inventory.
Here is proof why they shouldnt change nirnhoned....ever...:
Test setup:
I've been testing the highest possible mitigation in PvP with a VR1 DK from a friend.
Gear1: 7x Lightarmor, Sharpened Destructionstaff, Resipierce Mundusstone, all points in health, no glyphs on gear. So basically only resistpierce.
Gear2: To identify the hardcap i also crafted him 7x Heavyarmor, defending 1h weapon (Spelldamage bonus from 1h is the same as with Staff), no Mundusstone, all points in health, no glyphs on gear. So basically ZERO resistpierce.
Results:My Spellresists: Damage Flamelash: Gear1 38857 834 40836 795 54123 726 My Spellresists: Damage Flamelash: Gear2 31516 630 33616 610 35849 610 36629 610 45443 610
-> confirmed hardcap between 31516 and 33616 resists (some people already confirmed it at 32500)
Interpretation:
So as you can see, even with 54K spellresists, you are far away from reaching the mitigation hardcap if your enemy knows even the slightest thing about gamemechanics in teso.
ps:
Please hold in mind, that the sharpened staff was only purple and that the VR1 DK has not the highest possible resipierce from the lightarmor passive (concentration). A VR14 char has more resipierce but i think the results are still pretty solid.
What was the tooltip damage on flamelash?

Thanks for taking the time on this.
It would have been useful if you had actually tested this on a VR14 character. Lower VR1 scaling and piercing has always given messed up numbers.
A VR1 character needs far less spell piercing to pierce a higher amount of armor. Not all the piercing abilities scale correctly either. You ever see level 15 character running around with 35K hitpoints in Cyrodiil? Yeah that's how good ZoS is at getting scaling correct between VR levels.
Do some testing on a VR14 character. I was testing with full piercing (Legendary Nirnhoned, 5 Pc light armor, a few points into spell erosion but no Apprentice) and I was getting my damage cut in half by 40K (Believe my focus rating is 12600 or so).
