As I'm sure you've noticed, the forums got a new coat of paint today. This also includes a number of tweaks and bug fixes, such as larger font size for post text, and the ability to access older posts in the Dev Tracker. As always, we'd love to know what everyone thinks!

Color scheme is horrible. Too low a contrast and very hard to see. I can only spend a few minutes on the forums at a time before I get headaches from trying to make out the text.
Me: "Okay lets run to Alessia. Mount up and follow me!"
Me five seconds later: "Um yeah... totally forgot about that cliff..."

Can I have the old "parchment" theme please? The new theme is too bright and gives me a headache. I'm glad the font size is bigger though.

By the way. Maybe, my question was asked before, but... Dear ZOS, do you have any plans to add the possibility to download custom avatars?

    And if not, why? :/

I like my sweetroll, but I want to see it more unique.

If I had to guess, they're limiting the types of avatars that can be used because the moderators don't want to spend half their day controlling the inappropriate ones people would inevitably select.

    Just a small request:

Is it possible that the emblems for the Great Houses of Morrowind can be considered for the next batch of icons? I would love a House Telvanni themed icon.

So far, new content added to the avatar pool has featured recent game content, such as Craglorn and Crypt of Hearts. We're happy to consider other content, but we'd want to keep it tied to ESO, and at the moment the Telvanni are only featured in a few small instances.

Due to the additional moderation this would require, we don't allow custom avatars.

I'm used to the less strict forum, yeah :D

Then, maybe, one day will be possible to see some kind of forum thread or theme where players will be able to suggest avatars - and some day they'll be added to the avatar pool?

The new text color/format/something is making links pretty much invisible when they're embedded in normal text.

A proper, visible "log in" button should be added.
the forum account should be bound to the game account
The forum name should be automatically asked to be changed upon first login, or if skipped, keep prompting it in each log-in until changed or chosen to keep same.

Is there any chance we could be allowed to pick from some other skins?
While for me it's bearable, at least if I don't have a headache when I start out, I definitely preferred the eyestrain level of the darker forums.

I don't know if it's a glitch or intentional but I have the beige back. If it is intentional, thank you, thank you, a million times thank you.

I have myopia and astigmatism and the white was so hard on my eyes.

Edit: Apparently it was a glitch. Returned and the tan color was gone. Now the white hurts my eyes again.

I don't understand why you all don't realize how harsh and glaring this is.

Well, it could be because they don't have myopia and astigmatism. But they did say earlier that they're looking for a way to tone down the brightness on the sidebars. I think making everything the same grey as post backgrounds would probably be good (and having posts become darker grey).

Tab, there was some talk earlier in the thread of messing with the settings so you could get the old format back.

Funny thing is, when the colors changed, I didn't see one message praising the new look; when the colors briefly changed back, the forums lit up with gratitude and thanks.

This suggests that the "hospital" forum skin really isn't the best fit for the people here.

I was praising more the much higher degree of functionality and now...no damn spam pop ups. That said actually being able to read the text without it being on a daft background that made it even harder to read...is nice. These new forums are clean, easy to navigate and highly visible, compare them to the old one and you can easily see how much that needed kicking to the curb.

I certainly can't see that about this lifeless antiseptic travesty, but I can understand that it's a matter of taste. It's good to see that there are people who appreciate this cold and visually arid UI, I'm sure they put a lot of work into it.

Thankfully, the old UI remains, and can be seen and used by blocking the file:

That's to your personal taste and you are welcome to it of course. My problem with the old design is quite simply that the forums were far less readable. The font was dreadful for a forum and the size was also wrong, the layout of the forums too was all over the place and frankly the old forums were a complete mess. That and they were prone to serious spam ware IMO, which is despite all the safeguards I had against such things.

These new forums are clean, easy to read and well laid out. I am all for you disliking the style as I already said you are welcome to think that. Sometimes simpler is BETTER.
