    1. Yes, actually it did happen.
    2. Would you rather get relatively small, broken, unfinished content every month than huge, complete, bug-free content every 3 months
    3. EVERY P2P MMO developer has stated this, then what happened? B2P/F2P happened. Nothing new.
    4. ...How exactly is this point related to pay-to-win? Be thankful you got any info at all!
    5. How exactly are ANY of the above points related to pay-to-win?

Because it will bring in the most revenue.

For every principled gamer who will quit rather than play with a P2W shop, there are ten who'll use the shop and twenty who'll continue to play but refuse to use the shop.

More Revenue for ZOS -> More Content for US

Ultimately, this is true and if the choice is no ESO or ESO with P2W I will reluctantly take P2W.

The cash shop by its nature has to go P2W, items have to offer a clear advantage or they will not sell and generate profit. The only question is when, not if. Current B2P is a training wheel until shop is fully stocked and running.

I see a lot of these on the forums. You people seriously underestimate the human need to be vain. Really, really underestimate it.

The truth of which is evidenced at any bank in Tamriel ...

I haven't even logged on in 3 week.

Why? Because I feel like any time I spend in game would be wasted since this game is obviously going down the tubes in the next year or so. Which is such a shame because it started with such promise, but I guess we were just lied to from the beginning.

People will say, "If you are having fun, who cares?"

I play MMOs with the expectation that I'll be part of the game/community for 3+ years. The nose dive ESO has taken in the past 2 months is too much for me to spend any time in game and feel like my time isn't wasted.

And no a 50% xp bonus potion isnt p2w, just like wow giving 90 lvl for 60$ isnt pay to win . Does potion gives you the high end pvp or pve gear ? no . Does it give you the ability to get more skill on your bar ? no . Does it gives you skill points ? No.

Yes its helps alot for cp farming .. its does. but hey you could also have 4 alt all enlighted and just rotate into them , youll be able to play allt he time you want while being almost constantly enlighted. Anyway 50% isnt 300%. My point .. its not that much a big deal. And its a way to level alt faster, altough, I think, If the potion was for alt leveling solution I would rather them just give us the option to buy a vr 10 champ. that way vr 14 cant use the potion to get faster cp farm(even tho 50% faster cp point @ vr 14 IS NOT a big deal espacially thinking enlighted is like a 300% buff) .

No you can't because enlightenment is account based.

And if you've done any testing on the PTS, you'll realize that having more CP gives a HUGE advantage, especially in PVP. So getting CP 50% faster, plus the 20% TU bonus will let you get much more powerful much faster.

    ZOS doesn't keep it's promises.

Yep. But I dunno how that correlates to a pay to win business model. False dichotomy. I don't expect them to sell power, that undermines the relentless grind for power they just added with the champion system. It's more lucrative to create a really really really really long progression system, then sell you EXP potions that help you go through it in say 5 years instead of 10, to string you along. If they just sold the power up front, players would have no reason to keep sinking money into exp potions to progress faster. They'd just be powerful, get bored, and quit.

Nah pay to win is counter intuitive to the design strategy. They'd make less money doing that. ZOS is a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. They have bills to pay just like everyone else.

That said there's not just one kind of pay to win, and it's not always this soulless evil entity gamers get all dramatic about. There's GOOD pay to win business models out there, CCG's and table top miniature games being among them. ESO is just not set up for a good hard pay to win model, but soft pay to win like XP potions or mounts that have different mechanics than other mounts, or whatever. Soft stuff. Oh and pay walls. This sucker is primed for pay walls. New armour sets and equipment? Oh sorry it's exclusive to the new content. Content they very well may give players access to, but not let them use any equipment from, just to pressure the sale. I mean, if you just got the uber rare helmet of awesome to drop from the final boss in the newest raid, but you couldn't use it unless you bought the content pack, you might really want to buy that content. Just saying.

I have no idea what the hell ZOS has planned for their micro transactions, but selling power without mandating the player slog through their infinite progression system is just bad business. They called the game Tamriel Unlimited because the amount of time you will spend in progression is now UNLIMITED. They want to keep you paying and that means they need to keep you playing, and to keep you playing they have the Champion System.

I'm surprised no one has really mentioned the sheer amount of money they'll make selling the console versions. If you're worried about ZOS losing revenue, you should consider that. I'm not at all worried about the game going F2P anytime soon- they make a helluva lot more from B2P, they will sell the console version, and release DLC to make money residually going forward. DLC can be sold on both platforms... which means it's a win/win for them.

At the end of the day- they'll do what's best for their bottom line- they're a business, after all. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

I'm personally just waiting for them to announce the opening of the other "realms" of Tamriel- so we have more areas to explore, things to do, etc. It would be nice if they just opened up the map without travel restrictions, but I'm really not expecting it. Eventually, the "fight for Cyrodil" thing is going to get old- and they're going to have to change it up somehow.

TL;DR - If you got this far without reading the entire post you're either too lazy or suck at reading comprehension and probably don't belong in a public forum anyway. Just move along, you wouldn't understand.

Circumstances change and so do businesses. As an owner you have to be flexible or your business can crumble. Just because they stated their intention to stick with a subscription model doesn't mean they're liars for dropping that part of their business plan. It means they are adapting. Please stop the complaining and whining, it's really discouraging to new player prospects.

    1. They said the'd track XP and convert it to CP. Did that happen, not really!
And that makes the Game pay-2-win why...?

    2. They promised new content every 4-6 weeks when hyping the game. We are lucky to even get server maintenance every 4-6 weeks let alone content updates.
I dont know what server you are playing on but i get a weekly maintenance on my EU Server. And that makes the Game pay-2-win why...?

    3. When hyping the game before release they promised it would stay on a subscription model and said they'd rather "Shut the game down than go F2P". Now they are essentially doing that. You can argue B2P isn't F2P, but I guarantee you once they want to inflate player-base numbers the box will either drop to some minimal cost (like $5) or the "base game" will be free with restrictions.
And that makes the Game pay-2-win why...?

    4. They have delayed 1.6 patch notes on PTS to wait for the Tamriel Unlimited announcement, taking a vow of silence on all matters subscription or 1.6 release dates until that announcement was made.
And that makes the Game pay-2-win why...?

just watch eventually champion points are going to be available for purchase in their little crown store.

ESO is brain dead easy without champion points anyways. The Champion system has failed before it was ever release. In one year ZOS will have no choice but find ways of giving chunks of Champion points to players to force catch them up. As time marches onward this issue will become worse and worse. My advice would be to enjoy this game much as you can for my opinion on its future is poor.

All this talk about what will happen based on speculation what other games have done etc etc, the funny part it is written like it is a done deal, no hope for the future, the sky is falling /facepalm

Who cares, it might turn out exactly like that, it might not, the future is not written yet, and if it comes to pass oh well, will not be the first game I left because they went to extreme in the cash shop and stopped adding content to the game over new items in the cash shop.

I am still having fun in the game NOW, at this point in the games life, will I be here another year, I would like to be, but just like the game I am hold until consoles release and see where the game really goes. Seems like a lot of people ruin their own game experience by worrying to much about what might happen instead of just enjoying what is here and now. /shrug
