AND, if you get caught in a building with guards in it and they spot you, gg your dead, no questions asked, no chance to get out, you are just dead, because you know, the guards are immortal.

You can use invis pots to actually get out of the situation inside a building, ive saved myself a couple times since i made them just popping it and going to hide at the opposite end of the building, pending the building isnt just a single small room.

Like I said, I have no gold to buy invis pots, and I don't have alchemy leveled.

Stop going in town. duh. Make some money on loot drops outside of town, go sell to the fences and pay off your bounty. Sheesh.

I am fine with the guards bothering me, but the fact that they CANNOT be killed whatsoever is extremely annoying. If they could be killed, I would have no problem at all. I think its unfair and unfun that we need to go up against gods when we want to do some crime. Everyone can die, so why can't they?

Yea, this is just not fun, getting double teamed by two guards as I am making a break for the way shrine, getting chain gripped and then stunned right after roll dodging away.

I had 10 mins of fun messing around with the guards yesterday and wasted 15 k killing stuff and fighting them.

Today was like a normal day and i was only a bit sad i was killed right after looting my first lockbox.

I would just ask a friend for the 10k and pay off your bounty :)

@Beesting Yea it doesn't work like that, no one wants to give me 10k, and at this rate, I would say they might as well just disable the system because its pointless and they went WAY to damn far with the guards. There is really no reason to delve deep into the thievery portion of the justice system, because if you mess up a few times the game just demolishes you in punishment, making it basically impossible to survive in towns and cities, and draining you of every last coin of gold. So, imo, disable the justice system till god guards goes away for good.

Yes, that is exactly what I want, doesn't sound that unreasonable if you think about it. I mean, look at Skyrim, you can steal stuff and kill the guards and its fun. Here, you can steal stuff sure, but if you get spotted by a guard (which have an enormous chase range, full set of abilities, and hit like trucks) you are dead. It just discourages way to much from the justice system itself and hurts the player to much for trying it.

So are you attempting to sneak around or just casually walking places? When you started screwing up you shouldn't have kept piling on the bounty. You only get 70-150G penalty for a pickpocket fail and 400-500G (confirm??) for thieving fail. The only BIG BIG bounty occurs when you kill someone.

Since you didn't wait it out originally and amassed a HUGE cost that will of course make things difficult, at least for awhile. As you stay logged in your bounty slowly dies down, it may take a long time but that's the penalty you get for sucking at stealing.

The guards are fine as-is, easy enough to avoid or escape from 1-2 of them. They shouldn't be kill-able by 1 person, otherwise there would be no risk, nor a reason to be careful what you go after. The system is fine right now and guards should ONLY be tweaked once the PvP aspect of the justice system is implemented.

There are reasons successful thieves are anonymous, you can't catch what's invisible. In the meantime I would advise staying away from cities, killing bandits (or similar mobs) and getting some more gold. You can still sell things to the traveling merchants.

Ah to be young and not want consequences....
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Same here. Those who complain about getting killed by the guards just suck at stealing. Stop stealing and you won't get killed by the guards! So far I haven't been caught once. It helps to be a nightblade; the thieving class has its perks. But if you can't cloak, then use an invisibility potion. If you didn't level alchemy, then that is your fault. It is the easiest profession to level up. Ask a friend for a few invisibility potions- the ones with speed boost. But don't complain that you can't do it right. If the guards can be easily killed by one person, then what is the point of thieves having to sneak around? What's to prevent me from killing everything in a city, and then the guards, without any repercussions? L2P

    The Guards Must be Crazy

Seems like the system is working exactly as intended.

ZOS didn't want the cities to turn into perpetual battlegrounds and NPC graveyards piled high with corpses. As the system is designed, after the initial training period where players discover they can't run amok without facing the music, things should be just about right.

Meanwhile, those who anger the gods can seek solace in the wilderness until their bounties decay -- and hopefully learn a little more self-control for future re-integration with civil society. ;)

I haven't used cloak... or invis pots... I stealth normal and I've been caught a couple times as guards rounded corners on me... while I was stealing from the chests/drawers in the auridon bank.

I've been success about 98% of the time... and had guards chase me 5 times now. They've chained me, they've stunned me... and still I survived and got away... had to use a healing pot each time *shrug*...

I've died _once_ by guard outside those other 5 times... because my hand twitched wrong on the keyboard while I was in a building... missing the 'E' to exit the damned building so I could run like the scurvy dog I was to safety in the refuge... dodging a few more guards, but I was confident I would have made it, had I gotten outside.

Why? Because I knew the layout of the city, so I know the shortest routes to get to the refuges.

If you suck as stealing, don't do it. Or at least plan better.

WHAT?!? HOW DARE ZENIMAX MAKE THE GAME DIFFICULT IN EVEN THE SLIGHTEST FORM!!! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS.

Guards are not supposed to be easily killable. Why? Because then there would be little to no repercussion for stealing or killing if just anyone could kill the Guards and walk away scott-frree.

The point of stealing is to NOT get caught, or if you do to run away. Not to just go in and kill everything in sight because PC is always better then NPC's. This is great implementation.

The bigger question is why do you have 0 gold? Go find a place where you can steal to your hearts content where there are no guards. That's what I do. When I get bored I jump into cyrodil and run daily and pvp. When I'm done I go back to my spot and keep stealing. Not that hard...

Guards killable? Fine by me. But then cities would have to have hire 50 times the amount of guards so failing thieves without money don't mass murder every city. This way you get your realistic playstyle and still get screwed.

But hey all in all you are complaining cause you failed right? Be honest

The bounty clears itself over time just wait it out...... And try not to fail next time.

Justice system is a risk vs reward concept. Get rich fast, but if you screw up, you're in trouble.
If the guards could be killed (by one guy nonetheless) then there would be no risk, just rewards.

There's a way to kill guards. Just reverse-pickpocket a grenade. You get an achievement "exploding pants", too.

So, I did some thievery and botched it a bunch of times and landed myself with a 10k bounty. I currently have 0 gold. I am trying to find a Daedra heart in a container in a town, like the old days, but every time I try and walk around to get from house to house to look, I get swarmed by 1-3 guards, and I have no chance of fighting back because they are GODS (WHYY???) and they constantly chain pull me and stun me whenever I try to run away, so my only real option is to just stand there and die.

Please for the love of god, make guards killable, this just isn't fun after a while.
No, the guards are there because there's no other way to deal with people like you until PVP is enabled.

Don't like it, don't steal, problem solved.

We probably gonna see more skilless thieves complaining about guards.
I would want them react like Ultima-Online guards. They sent from heaven by god with a lightning and baam , you are dead.
Or you could just stop sucking at it.
