Anyone else feel that 1.6 has completely ruined the game for them....?

I'm not sure who will be reading this; maybe nobody, maybe just some random people on forums, but I hope some of my friends see this, because I'm really unlikely to continue playing much anymore since this update. I hardly know where to start to explain, but I suppose the main thing is that....

I (and many others) spent a lot of time trying to get good at this game (PVP in particular), trying to discover the most effective builds and skills and to learn how to react to everything we came across. But I feel as though the year's worth of experience I've had in this game has been for absolutely nothing, as the entire mechanics are totally different, and overnight my character feels as though it has become completely, totally useless. I don't even want to get into what build I use, because virtually everyone I know feels completely nerfed, regardless of build. It's like I've learned to play a sport, or a musical instrument really really well, and then someone has come along and totally redesigned it, and now I know how to do *nothing*. And sorry, but I'm highly reluctant to continue paying to learn a second musical instrument.

Furthermore I completely agree with those who say that the champion system, 1. is just to make you as good as you were *before 1.6*, and 2. will reward grinding, and punish regular play.

Sorry ZOS, but I really don't care about your justice system, or the provisioning. I'm a PvPer, and the whole thing is completely unbearable, unplayable and awful now. I really hope that things get better enough for me to put time back into this game again, but as it stands, it's a chore to play.

I think you share the same sentiment with a lot of players who have put blood sweat and tears into this game. With that said, in order to move forward playing this game, I suggest looking at it as you've just purchased a new game and have to learn how to play it. I know it sucks but that's where we are at atm. What we've done up until now simply won't work in 1.6. I hope you find some way to enjoy the game in the future.

Good luck to you and happy hunting!

So everyone feels nerfed in Pvp? How does that work? How do you know you're nerfed if what you're comparing yourself to is also nerfed?

Not being sarcastic, it's a genuine question of curiosity. I'm a pve/rp/immersionist so I don't quite follow the whole statistical side of mmos.

I feel the same way, playing my low level char mostly since patch ( have 2 V14 and 2 lower level V alts). All that time spent learning and perfecting your chars went down the drain. I should say trying to play. Constant freezing and crashing after the patch does not help matters.

It is a lot different, and day one, it's certainly understandable that it's frustrating.

It will require some adjustment on both sides, no doubt. I'm not discounting your feelings about this, but I'm hopeful that certain things will work themselves out.

It would have been better had you learned this way from the start, true. Don't try to think of it as them changing you piano into a tuba, but as them changing your piano into a pipe organ. (Sorry, best crappy analogy I can come up with on short notice).

It will require some adjustment, but I think you can find enjoyment, proficiency, and usefulness in your build again, just a slightly different version of your build.

Hoping you find a way to stay. Understanding if you don't.

(Maybe take a break for a bit and let some of the kinks gets worked out. PTS didn't have enough time to do that, unfortunately.)
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

Not at all, actually. I'm having a lot of fun.

I'm taking my time respeccing my Vet level characters. My main pretty much only has base skills right now because I'm unsure which morphs to pick for some skills.

Though I'm having fun exploring some of the skills they changed that I had never used before. I will probably take me a week or two before I settle on build/playstyle for my main characters, but so far, I'm really enjoying playing them (and my level 47 templar who is awesome!)

When I say everyone feels nerfed, I am basing this on 90% of the conversations I've had with pvpers I know (easily 90%). And on the fact that you can find an overwhelming amount of posts, threads and discussion about how *stamina sorcerer* feels nerfed, *magicka nightblade* feels nerfed, *dragonknight tank* feels nerfed. Everything. And this is largely because we now have to earn champion points in order to have an equatable character to what we used to. It's hard to find someone who's favourite skill *hasn't* been totally ruined, in my experience.

Personally, I like the feel in high level and low level PvE now even better. PvP... eh... I don't think the current model will be sustainable without some significant tweaks down the road.

Depends on how I look at it. If I am trying to make a perfect build, it doesn't exist. Even things that might be as close as we might have thought pre-1.6 just isn't possible.

If I am just looking to have fun and be just good enough to be dangerous, then its kind of fun playing with different things and trying something different. Just wish skill resets were reduced for a while so I can do more.

I think that, even though the CS is a good addition to the game, for PvP'rs it's really unfortunate. I feel like most PvP'rs (me included) are those who don't like the CS, because eventually it will make a huge difference in PvP. The stronger ones are going to be those who have the most CP and not those who just like to screw around in Cyrodiil.

I start to feel that this system might ruin the game for me, but I'm gonna hang in there for a while though. Who knows what comes out of it. It can't be all too bad, just sucks for PvP mostly imo.

Update 6 is a huge gameplay change, and a lot of things changed that will knock people out of their comfort zones.

Ultimately, I think most will adapt. Many will enjoy learning and optimizing new builds. Some will simply leave. In the end, I think the people who will have an irreconcilable stand on the changes will be outnumbered by those who do not.

Personally, I think this is the best update since Update 5.

To me it's like this is the most confused mmo ever now, it's a casual mmo with a huge grind added to it, I don't see how they work together at all? And to me the pvp isn't worth the huge grind to stay competitive, especially considering the lag in cyrodil.

I like the patch b/c it's added another layer of development and added more things to do (strangely except for endgame). As for the builds, some classes/builds made out & other were nerfed (some so hard they are no longer viable for their particular intention). But then you get the rebalancing buff/nerf thing with every MMO. For the most part, most of the people I've heard who strongly dislike the patch are those pvpers who have gained an advantage by grinding their way to the top and fairly resent the idea of having to do it again. Or they might be OK with it if the grind could be had in Cyrodil riding the zergball wave into a keep attack.

I'm holding out final judgement until the Champion System has been around & I get to see the difference in power full trees give those against other people. (If you're going to pit VR1 against VR14 then the buff to the VR1 should be substantial enough for both players to come away with a decent combat experience - just just some lol faceroll. And my fear is the gap is just going to widen with the current CP system).

If it makes you feel any better, I think that the people who will be spending the most time staring at the abyss will be the top tier PVP and PVE players (compliment if that is you).

I will guess that the rank and file average players will be more upset by the attribute and skill point refund and the need to remember what they had before, and not so much with the base changes that happened.

I love the new update. Things got changed.. a lot. It will require a long phase of adaptation for the gamers to find what works and what doesn't. And it will take some time to get used to it all. Our old way of doing things has changed. Adapt.

All I see is whining and crying on these forums, and it hasn't even been 2 full days yet since this patch was released. There is ALWAYS a breaking in period. A month from now, when people actually figure out how to play under the new rebalance, you'll see a lot less QQ'ing. In the mean time....Adapt!
