Perma Blocking Problem With Possible Solution

    So cool bug. If you build your block mitigation up so high to where you block 0 damage, it doesn't drain your stamina. This is why there are people going around unkillable because with block up they take no damage and the game acts like they didn't even get hit. So no stam drain = tank forever.

    As powerful as unkillable max magicka shield stackers can be, now there are also unkillable perma blocking heavy armor tank builds. Today I ran into a guy named [snip] (he was using special characters for the i's in his name, which made me suspect he could be exploiting something)

    The old complaint was that people in light armor were much tankier than the guys in heavy.. This was supposed to change now, but what i gathered from testing (not with 3600cp though) the situation is now even worse - spamming damage shields in light armor offers much more resource efficient damage mitigation than blocking(+healing) (even when specced full heavy with block cost reductions and giving up damage dealing potential).
    If anything, blocking should be buffed to make it viable alternative to shield stacking.

    If anything, blocking should be buffed to make it viable alternative to shield stacking.

    Because we need more DKs who charge into a fight and hold their right mouse button and do nothing else useful.

    Blocking is currently too expensive I feel though, without a significant CP investment to bring it back in line with blocking on Live. It is the same with Dodge roll.

    BUT THATS THE IDEA BEHIND A TANK. TAKE DAMAGE AND TAKE THE FOCUS OFF THE DPS/HEALERS.... why does no one get this? Blocking is not expensive, neither is dodge roll if you spec into it and wanna play a blocking char or a rolling char. Spec into those trees and reduce the cost if you feel they are too high.

    1.6 is about specing the char to how you want to play. I dont understand how people dont see this and just want everything to cost nothing and to run around in god mode....

    Probably because Ezareth hasn't run with a tank that uses guard properly and is built to sustain it's up time. Granted, the situation to show it's value might not appeared but for the first couple of days when 1.6 was first put on PTS there was some decent PvP to test out the effectiveness of guard and it's morph.

    I think people on PTS are determining what a good build is based off of dueling however not every build is a dueling build. If someone is making threads about an unkillable tank then he/she's obviously doing something right if that's how he/she set their goals of the build to be.

    There's definitely room for tanks to be built like tanks and play like tanks. It's not all about the pew pew. Sometimes providing protection for your group can be key while they pew pew.

    I tried 1.6 and used two DK builds, tank and DPS builds. I use an odd tank build that most don't get at first. Tank build for live is 7/7 Heavy 5pc Willow / 4pc Seducer, jewelry, neck does 17 hp recov w/ 76 max hp and two rings that do 14 weapon dmg w/ 74hp. The armor is all infused: Chest and head w/ hp, legs and belt w/ stam, others magicka, shield w/ stam, all gold w/ gold enchants. I can tank any boss w/ little death. I don't need a healer since I use green dragon blood and ring of preservation(nerfed but still usable).

    If I take this build and try to tank any any bosses I run out of stamina so quick that I can't block anymore, avg 4-7 seconds. With potions at a 45 second cooldown I run out of magicka then shortly health is gone. I know that it will be a learning curve but I feel as of now that tanks are dead or will be in short supply.

    In live 1.5.7/8 I rock as a tank. I don't use this build in PVP since it takes 6+ to bring me down and don't just want to stand there and do little to nothing until death. I use a stam based DPS build for PVP.
