ZOS dont make food and drink stackable and why

    What I don't understand is if they're all about customization, why didn't they combine drinks and food in such a way so that you could eat one thing, and it gives you "Magika and Magika Regen", or "Health and Stamina Regen", or "Stamina and Health", or "Magika Regen and Stamina Regen" etc..

    I don't know why it only gives either stats or regen, instead of having food that does both.

    BIG DIFFERENCE .. switching weapons is cost-free, switching foods on a per-encounter basis (at worst) will consume vast amounts of food and drink.

    This is just another of a lengthening list of plans ZOS have announced then done a U-turn on without any discussion or even an attempt to explain why the reneged on it .. and no, this what they said WOULD happen, it wasn't a 'hope' it wasn't a 'plan', it was FACT, which turned out not to be.

    At the moment there seems no point in having drinks in the game, as they never get used, so they either need to be changed or removed.

    Me too, I prefer to increase my regen rate so I have Magicka or Stamina available to interrupt/heal/whatever to avoid a dent in my health rather than a slightly larger health pool, the extra amount being often a lot less than a crit. hit which could have been avoided had I had the Stamina to prevent it.

    As I tend to run out of magicka, I have been using mostly drinks. Yes, having a larger base number helps but having the magicka regen faster provides more than the food. And yes, the provisioner is maxed with many purple recipes so I can make whatever recipe in game I want.

    BUT, it would be much better for them to stack. Right now, there is little call for maxed provisioners.

    Reversing stated changes has been 'normal' behavior for ZO$, but on this change, they did in fact explain their reasons for not stacking. They want to encourage Drink usage, so they did a slight increase on drinks in 1.6. The rational is use food buffs for short fights, and drink buffs for long fights. They also said they would monitor drink usage, and consider stacking food and drink if drink usage did not increase. So it's still possible we will get both buffs to stack in the future. But, I would not consider this a certainty.

    If they really think the level of drink stats are enough to encourage their use they [ZOS] are deluded .. even at the 1.6 levels the benefit is still not going to persuade many to give up the bigger numbers they see in the stat pools .. the main problem here is that regen isn't enumerated as clearly so people don't know the benefits, but given the boost to regen is pretty small then that may be a moot point anyway.

    Agreed. The 1.6 regen increase is paltry. My hope is players continue to reject drinks, and they get stacked.

    OP, you suggestion is definitely workable, in another thread I laid out all the math on how to make them competitive with food. They would only need to buff the drink base bonuses by 28% (that is the absolute minimum) and they will be competitive with food bonuses at least for longer fights lasting more than 24 seconds.

    Here is the thread with all the math and the break down, please post here is you want change as it includes the formulas and examples for ZOS to easily find. I will reference your thread there too.

    For all those who say they shouldn't stack. How about for some degree of realism how would you feel if you couldn't eat only drink in real life or vise versa. Both should need to be consumed at the same time for any health benefits it only makes sense. If you can make food and drink you should gain the effects from food and drink! Also adds more purpose to actual crafting. I have seen many posts were they make the strongest character by not putting any points in craft. I hope those peoples toons starve to death. How would that be if they actually require you to eat and drink to live like real life? The buffs don't have to be huge but should be required.

    Yeah I've never understood why people keep asking for stackable food and drink like its going to give them an advantage. It isn't, everyone will just need to eat food AND take drink before doing anything.
    When you say "everyone", you actually mean "everyone who understands how to play the game". Do you have any idea how many times I've gone to run a Veteran Dungeon and found that one of the other players in my party thinks that a Stale Shank-and-Potato Pie is acceptable food! It's only Level 45 and nerfed because it's Stale, and yet people will still eat them and think they are adequately buffed for a Veteran Dungeon! ARGH!

    The reasons Food & Drink should stack are simple: Spell/Wpn Damage scales off of Max Magicka/Stamina. In order to make drinks comparable, there would need to be a secondary stat that scales off of Magicka/Stamina Regen. Because there is no such secondary stat, drink would have to become much more powerful than they currently are. Food and Drink currently provide complimentary buffs.

    It is appropriately easy to level crafting in this game. Just because you haven't put in the time or effort to raise your crafting skills does not mean that the effectiveness of items should be less than optimal. By the time I got my first character to the middle vet levels, I had managed to get 40-something (enough to craft upper-vet level gear) in all the armor/weapon crafting skills. By that time I had also hoarded up enough alchemy, provisioning, and enchanting materials to level my alts to comparable levels.

    it has nothing to do with crafting the food and drinks. it has to do with being forced to do both to make sure others dont have that competitive edge. It would seem more elder scrolls like to give you a choice of which to use depending on the build that you are going with. The point is to find a way to give more choices to the players in order to create diversity and alternative ways to approach the game that would still allow the player to be competitive.

    As far as the idea above about stacking being more realistic. well eating a sweet roll every hour to sustain yourself to live on is not realistic. moreover, eating every hour or two is not realistic either. I see your point but i dont think it is a strong enough argument on why they should stack.
