Is LFG fixed yet?

Has anyone else had a chance to test out the Grouping Tools since patch 1.5.7?

Tried to group for pledges (EU). I choose tank role, but didn't find anyone. So, I would say that LFG tool still broken.

Well, I did a little bit more testing. I joined group after I don't know how much I waited and it was today's pledge dungeon. 2 vt14 and 2 vr6. So, LFG tool not completly broken.

Another case of a well-tested "fix" in a patch... inspires such confidence...

    Dear ZOS,
Please call EA/BioWare and get their LFG tool as used in SW-TOR. It'll cost you less than all the money you're spending for labor on a grouping tool that doesn't work.
    Sincerely,

I hate to be snarky, but, ZOS, why are you trying to reinvent the wheel? Please just copy an MMO that has a good grouping tool/system. I recommend DDO. Are links allowed? DDO wiki on their social panel: http://ddowiki.com/page/Social_panel

Tested this morning on my Nightblade I am leveling. He's level 31 and I tried to cue as dps for Crypt of Hearts. 2 hours later of collecting lorebooks, nodes, and killing random mobs = no movement whatsoever on the grouping tool. Just the spinny thing I've come to greatly dislike.

This has pretty much been my experience as well. Tanking or dps, my nightblade hasn't been able to get into a group through lfg. I have been trying since level 25. She's now lvl 37. Pretty much just resigned to using chat to group and hoping for the best.

I've been talking with a few Vet players yesterday and there seems to be a confusion which search combination to use? Do you use "dungeon" as your activity and their select one of the Vet level dungeons, or do you select "veteran dungeon" as an activity and then select one of the few Vet dungeons that are listed?

To me as an outside observer, this looks like an attempt at making minor tweaks to fundamentally broken code. In the entire history of programming, that has never worked. When faced with garbage code, you need to bite the bullet, throw it out and start from scratch.

That depends on which content you want to do. If you want to do the Normal content scaled to Veteran difficulty, you do the first thing. If you want to do the Veteran content, you do the second thing.

Thanks, but I already know that. It just appears that some players don't know what dungeon to check into for pledges.
Maybe things like that are also contributing to LFG not giving any results.

Last night during peak hours is the only time I've used it since the patch, but it worked with out a problem. Have my roles set to tank/DPS and selected the undaunted dungeon for that day. In literally less than 3 seconds after pushing search I was in a group with 3 other people and had a great run. Was very pleasantly surprised with the LFG tool.

I really think the automated grouping tool should be scrapped in favor of a player driven system. Let us access a menu where we can set up our own groups. Allow players to search open groups sorted by level, activity, and roles needed. If they see a group doing something they want to join, let them click a 'join' button. The group leader will see that they have a pending group member and can either approve or decline. Simple. If there isn't a group doing what you want to do, you can start one.

This. No one wants your awful system ZOS. Just make a menu where you can list groups and apply to said groups. Copy the group finder (NOT the LFD) from WoW, it works perfectly, unlike your system.....

This is actually a simple but very good idea. The system could even allow players to add in their own remarks such as "completed XXXX dungeon multiple times, or never completed before, etc,". Nice suggestion!

Tried yestarday to find anyone for pledges (I'm a tank, remember?). Waited for a few hours and no result. Found a group in Grahtwood in less than 10 min. So, LFG toll isn't broken, but useless.

Two days later and 6 hours of testing and still no luck. I am glad to see some of us had more success, but this tool is still not good enough.
Didn't this get tested on the PTS? Or were the patch notes about a fix just a bunch of words, with no real meaning behind them?

There was a patch in the not-so-distant past that changed the LFG tool to wait until a full group was available before actually forming the group. That was the one that busted it. Before that patch, the LFG tool wasn't perfect, but it worked. I was always able to find a group for every single dungeon as I leveled up alts w/o much of a wait, regardless of role.

Since that change, we have also had the scaled dungeons implemented, and a few other changes (fixes) to the LFG tool. But that was the one that busted it.

Agreed. Revert that change for the short-term, and ditch the 5-Veteran Ranks-either-way limit (so a VR6 could group with a VR14). Then for the longer term, start developing a player-driven, menu-based tool per rophez_ESO's suggestion.

I have been using the LFG Tool since the new patch on my level 22 healer and have not once been partied with a person, let alone a group. It would also help if, as a group, you could select "All" from the LFG Tool when trying to find more.

I play this game purely for it's PvE aspects. I enjoy questing and doing dungeons. But sitting around in a zone, especially Ghratwood where everyone is spamming for pledge groups, and spamming for over an hour is getting old.

Here's hoping a fix comes sooner rather than later, because I'm quickly running out of quests.

The problem with zone chat is that it offers a severely limited number of players who can respond to your LFG. It doesn't get any better with Undaunted pledges. That's why LFG is so important and the question why it's still not fixed so mind boggling.

The real issue is a big population drop in the game and many new people who do play forget to use the LFG option or just rather quest. The main issue in my opinion is Vet dungeon groups. I feel like most people including myself have faction pride and also after doing the other faction questing in vet levels and making a new character it just is not fun doing the other factions again. The issue is when you hit lvl 50 / vet 1 on your faction and now want to just do dungeons and maybe Craglorn from vet1 -14 you cannot find anyone and nobody used the LFG options. Population drop is the biggest issue though and as much as I want this game to do well and I still will stick around longer because of it, The veteran ranks were a bad Idea. I am positive vet ranks are a big reason ESO population dropped a lot. It destroyed faction pride and having to go to enemy faction zones was a big smack in the face also. Personally I think they should of done 1-50 max level and kept it that way till new content comes out. They also should of made it so if you want to experience the first 5 zones of every faction then you need to play that faction. It also would of made a lot of players have at least 2 alts besides their original main. The real question for me though is when new zones come out like wrothgar is supposed to eventually, they better better be a solo thing for the most part with some hard dungeons like usual and the world bosses like usual as well and you will need 2-3 players for that and the rest of the questing solo just like how they did in the 1-50 zones. If they do not make Wrothgar at least Vet 1 at start then I guarantee tons of the people who would try coming back to ESO to try it again would leave because lots of their characters are only 45-vet1-2. Now having the other zones after the original 1-50 I understand and making all the other content available for all factions to go there. I just think as a introduction to ESO they should of kept it all the factions apart like said above and no going to other factions yet to quest. It would of helped LFG much more as well and kept more people together and confined to their main zones till future content.

The fix we implemented in 1.5.7 did alleviate the long queue, but there are still a few outstanding bugs that we need to address:
    • There’s an issue where you are unable to find a group when the activity “World” is chosen specifically in Veteran content.
    • Group leaders are unable to search for more members for a dungeon after they kick a player out of the group multiple times. This is causing the Grouping Tools to be grayed out, and will remain that way no matter who the leader is.
    • You will still receive the message “Searching For Members” even after forming a full group for a dungeon.
Now, granted, that last issue isn’t affecting your ability to actually form a group, but we are working to fix all these issues. In the meantime, we do want to encourage you to continue using the Grouping Tools (even if it’s just running in the background) as its effectiveness is increased by the number of players that use it.
