The part of the community complaining about this are just??? solo/casual players who want an easy mode game that doesn't involve any challenge because in their minds "games are supposed to be for fun and not hard", yet, any study will prove that easy games don't hold the players attention for long so this is a very good change in my opinion.

The l33tnezz of this statement is just dripping with joy juice! Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside! Really! I LOVE being told what I want! HONEST! It just makes my day! The whole "just solo/casual players" comment is just ooozing with respect for a healthy segment of the people in this game. I feel so moved!

Don't get me wrong, many solo/casual players like challenges and prolly welcome these changes as I do. But the only people who are complaining are mostly the people who should be playing solo games where you can just pop up console and enable God mode. Those people will never be satisfied and will end up leaving anyways. It's a good thing ZOS is moving forward and accepting that thus finally turning this game into a great one as it should have been since the beginning.

Oh I didn't get you wrong and thanks for clearing it up that all I want is God Mode. Never played God Mode in my life! But you just keep believing that's what casual/solo players want if it helps you sleep good at night.

Not to mention that hardcore players are the cement that holds a population together. They are community leaders and content creators, the best advocates for a game. If you satisfy them, then the casuals/newer players will remain as they'll get social hooks and frameworks to remain motivated.

So much rage. Please enlighten us as to why dungeon scaling is a bad thing then?. It's just putting challenge to the game. One week ago all we had to do is run through dungeons with 3 DPS and a healer and just steamroll everything in 10 minutes. Now it actually involves a challenge. Only someone expecting an easy mode game with no challenge to "relax after work" could think that's a bad thing.
Patch is great.

LOL! There's no enlightening a black hole of ignorance. I've already spelled it out to you and you've missed the point. The universe does not revolve around the l33t, but hey, you just keep watching as the game loses more players because of this. It shouldn't affect you one bit.

ALl you've done is say: "That's not what I think/want" but haven't given any actual arguments. You then end up calling me an ignorant that isn't worth your time and your explanations.
Prolly cuz you know I'm right and you got no arguments.

Grammar much? Let me spell it out for you in words you might understand, but I doubt it! My very first response to you had nothing to do with why dungeon scaling was a bad thing and everything to do with your total disrespect of solo/casual players! PERIOD! Capeche?
There is still work to be done on the rewards like the fact that no mater our position on weekly trials we still get one item we can't trade when PVP players get 6+ items if they're on top positions.

Where, may I ask? I'm playing on Haderus, the weekly campaign, and never got more than 1 (usually purple) item.

100% Agree.
It seems like they may have missed a few bugs here and there with the scaling (haven't tried it myself though, so this is all hearsay) like Imirils attacks being unable to be blocked.. and I guess that the scaling of HP might cause "unintended" difficulties with fights that get progressively harder over time (such as, again, Imiril), by the sound of the discussions.
I think that people may have unfortunately gotten too used to the vet dungeons being a faceroll, I went solo in VR BC before the patch just for the lulz and was surprised that I could just speedrun the whole thing with like 2 deaths (that were seriously big mistakes). Now the "easier" VR group content is supposed to be the scaled-up normal dungeons, and the scaled VR ones should by intention be seriously difficult.
Not saying they shouldn't tweak it a little bit if necessary, but it sounds like it's just a matter of changing a few bosses that have time-dependent mechanics.
Either way, this will provide me with fun stuff to do on the nights I don't want or have time to go and "raid" SO, as well as something to do with friends of different skill levels.
We can now choose from normal dungeons, AA, VR dungeons, Hel Ra, Arena, Vet Arena, SO.. depending on what difficulty we can manage with the people we group with.

"I don't see why it's disrespectful. It's just the truth. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings though
truth tends to do that sometimes. "
Steve! Funny seeing you here on the forums. He isn't being disrespectful just telling the truth. Like I bet when he sees someone on the street he goes right up to them and tells them they are fat, or ugly, or stupid. It is just the truth.
It is not like he is saying a big chunk of the community is worthless either. He is only saying all solo players are worthless. Also all casual players are worthless. Basically only people that are in hardcore pro guilds who spend 6 hours a day on teamspeak playing their V14 Cloth and staff Vampires count, the rest are scum.
SteveCampsOut wrote: »And there it is. Ignorance. Can't see how brushing off an entire segment of players as irrelevant is disrespectful.
I'm not saying they are irrelevant, I'm saying all they want is an easy game that involves no challenge and it's proven that those games fail big time. Thus I'm saying they are wrong and we shouldn't listen to them if we want the game to succeed which is why this patch is awesome.
It's quite a different thing.

I've seen people in top 5 of the PVP leaderboard selling legendary items and getting like 5 of them at the end of campaign. If you're #1 weekly on PVE you get the same chances at loot as everybody else, it's bound on pickup and 80% is utterly useless.

If you are being serious then I would suggest the best solution is a range of difficulties in content because some, maybe even most, players want hard content when in the mood and easier content when not in that mood, they want to solo at times and group at others. The game will do best if it offers content for all.
Update 5 is a turning point in this game in my opinion regarding PVE content at least.
Dungeon scaling brings back some challenge into the game forcing people to actually play smart instead of just steamrolling everything on easy mode. The part of the community complaining about this are just solo/casual players who want an easy mode game that doesn't involve any challenge because in their minds "games are supposed to be for fun and not hard", yet, any study will prove that easy games don't hold the players attention for long so this is a very good change in my opinion. ZOS just needs to make sure that the difficulty doesn't become a wall like VR areas used to be so that people now have a challenge but can still complete the instances they must also make sure that, if they end up nerfing the scalable content, it doesn't become a piece of cake again.
Looks like ZOS really got it right this time and is moving in the right direction, finally catering to the needs of MMO players who might end up returning to the game.
Patch content: 10/10! please keep on it and put more vertical progression to the game!
Edit: Oh and the ornate traits in many of the loot items is also a very nice addition as well as the gold we can loot from most dead NPCs. This should help most decent players not loose money while just playing the game at VR levels.

Hard PVE and irritatingly long leveling curve worked so well for Wildstar.
I see no reason why ESO should not benefit from Wildstar experience and cater to those 1337-er players. Because they form a significant player base.
Too soon ?
