How many active players in ESO?

I have been reading a lot of bad/critical evaluations about ESO in the specialized games website but I think the game is pretty much fun and entertainment, in a complex game scenario and char developments. Just out of curiosity, anyone knows or have an idea how many active players ESO has up to date?

If you believe sites that can be for sure just making numbers up , around 700k, but that is if you believe said sites.

In the end only zen knows and zen didnt say the actual number.

Zenimax isn't saying. So far it's only been wild guesses by third parties.

Superdata is a reliable source in the industry if you didn't know. Tbh this does seem like a fairly accurate number.

Ok... show us the math. Without a sub you can't get their base numbers. They admit that ZOS doesn't provide them. They say they are from transactions that, legally, they have no access to.

So... why should I find them reliable?

Even if Zenimax released their own subscription numbers, you'd never know if it was legit or not. They could artificially inflate the numbers just to make it look good and you would never know.

I'll trust Superdata about as much as I trust Fox News - This is the internet, you can't believe everything you read on it, nobody knows besides Zenimax, personally, 1.2m just sounds bogus, but that's just me...

You have to factor in the turtle population of Oregon though. I'd say, if the south by south east cold front holds steady we'd be right around the ball park of bicycle.

I find that unlikely , mind you im not saying they wont try to trick you , but they probably wont lie about the numbers.

So instead of saying "here are the actual active subs ..." , they would go with some other term that got better numbers , like "here is total amount of subs" or something like that.

I would trust the numbers they put out , but ofc i believe they would only put the ones that benefit them out :P.

Reason personally i believe that , if the numbers were that good , they would just come out say it, but then again , they are not forced to and i dont have any proof at all the numbers are bad.

I say Green and the upcoming polar vortex it going to kill all the turtles in Oregon. So I would bet on the palm tree in the south pole.

The game is dead. The PVP servers are locked at around 2k players per server and the PVE leaderboards are all the same people. Do the math.. The only reason ESO is not free to play is because they made a lot of money up front on hype.

The reason these articles released such high numbers were due to sales and how many people were duped into buying 6 month subscriptions thinking Zenimax could release a quality product. They failed on every level...

Even if ZOS released the numbers, the haters wouldn't believe them, so there's not much point in doing so :P

If the game is still getting updated on a weekly basis, it's safe to say it hasn't failed. Might not have set the world on fire, but it's doing well enough.

Look at SW:TOR for a good example, it's still being called a "failure" by haters... yet it's still active, coming up on 4 years, and it's getting a new expansion pack. People just like to call something a "failure" if they dislike it, no idea why, but there it is.

No one knows the real numbers except for Zenimax and they will probably never share.

If they did share, they would be accurate numbers.

I cannot tell you how many active players are in the game. Unlike a couple that posted before me, I can safely say that there is more activity in October than there was in September.

On Sept 9, during a Raptr discussion, I said that the first week of September had more players in the game than the first week of May. The first week of May was the last week of the 35 days of free play.
I cannot tell you that there are hundreds of thousands of players in the game. I can tell you that I see more players in the game now than I did in the first week of May.

I stand by that statement and add that I see more player activity for the month of October than for the month of September.

The number of active players is irrelevant because in-game all the zones after the first few low level zones are empty. ESO needs a /who menu to quickly at a glance see how many players are in each area. Last time I logged in and went to a VR6 area I saw 1 other player in an hour of questing. That is just unacceptable.

If the developers could do something about the lack of players then I would play again. Unfortunately the only way that is going to happen is to remove the subscription requirement.
End the tedious inventory management game.

Justice System overhaul released with Console versions = second chance for an ESO marketing campaign (without an actual expansion pack).

If Zeni wants to get new subs (and maybe get some old ones back) they need to take full advantage of the massive changes coming with the Champion and Justice System, release the console version when those changes have been pulled through, and then use that window to start a fresh and revised marketing campaign for the game.

...If that fails, then yeah, f2p is a likely future if things don't pick up sooner than later.

Zenimax isn't talking because I suspect that the total number of ACTIVE players is horrendously small.

On the NA server, I would suspect that there are no more than 30,000 active players. I see the same names over and over.

Even if every faction had TEN completely full, active guilds (there aren't) there would be about 5000 per faction.

If I had to guess, 8pm EST to 2 am EST there are probably 9000 people online, max

The thing is , we just cant have any ideal at all from a player point of view.

The mega server keeps filling different instances , so there could be 1000 , probably we would think it is everything fine and dandy as long as they were all on the same place we are.

And that is the trick with this kind of server.

In a game like SWTOR we could see the game population going down because we could see the servers going into low pops and so on , in a game like ESo where we have no way of seeing it AND the server is meant to appear always full to us , we wont notice lols.
