I was compiling a pvp video from all my recorded vids and after long hours of reviewing them i noticed something very funny.... i have about 7 total hours of cyrodiil pvp where failed ganking by Sorcs and Nb's end up in them bolts escaping and disapearing. Did you know that in video game design there is a course on counterplay? The rules are simple, if player A. does somethign to player B, then player B should have a reasonable window to return fire to him. This counterplay system prevents someone from trying to kill you, failing, and then leaving without you having any reasonable counterfire.

I believe, and i know this sounds ugly but...the reason we have these kind of problems is because a team of fledging designers attempted to create a system of no-cooldowns without any basis/precedence from other games or experience to make it work. Cooldowns is in the counterplay course and teaches that a player has to commit to the actions he takes and then wait for a cooldown(the time his victim has to respond to his attacks). Im not promoting cooldowns but the lesson is in the course.

Now im not so sure i want to make a pvp video, but instead 7 hours of fleeing.

My mind instantly flashed to the failed Freighter ganks in EVE at the Niarja pipe bottleneck. A lot of WTF?'s and Hahahahhaha in the star systems chat. Then the killmail posts.

    Your video should be entertaining.

Make a nice 10-15 minute montage of the best bailers with some appropriate music to the theme. I think you will get a tremendous amount of views.

The Chicken dance theme song comes to mind. Or the old circus music theme. Yat dat dada dada Dant dat data data...

    I stopped reading here.

Not being skilled enough to engage a sorc/NB after they open up on you is not the same thing as the game not being designed to allow it.

    Nuff said.

Im just curios. How exactly do you deal with a sorc teleporting away. You sound so awesome at this game. You're probably better than everyone.

The issue is that a nightblade setup for quick kills out of sneak has almost no chance of survival in a straight fight. That is why they have an ability to vanish. If they are fast enough to get out of the fight before you react they deserve to escape. It isn't like a simple AE can't get them back out of stealth 90% of the time. Sorcs it is a little different story since they can bolt in, attack, bolt out, bolt in attack, bolt out etc.

When your class can invalidate all of your initial damage by using a skill twice for less ~20% of their magicka followed by almost perfect defenses and similar or better damage then the only thing you can do is get the hell away. The problem is that player B has to much of a chance to recover from the initial attack.

Now that's what Im talking about. Someone post the Benny Hills theme. If ZOS just made it the back round sound of the game then they wouldn't have to fix bugs.

When the game freezes up as soon as I attack someone in PvP.. Benny Hills theme. I wouldn't even be mad. I would just be hysterically laughing.

What? Your weapon refuses to swap... Insert Benny Hills theme. *** YA!!! Weapon swap lag is awesome. My wife would come running in. What the hell is going on in here that's so funny. Oh nothing dear. I got the Benny Hills theme because my weapon swap lagged out as I was dying. This game is perfect!

If you run around with a pure dps/gank build, you're obviously not equipped for a straight 1v1. So why hang around if the target recovers?

Like there's no way a NB with stacked sneak/crit dmg and gear, mundus over impen, low health, no resto or siphoning skills, is going to win against anyone in open fights. That's not what they're built for.

Sorcerer casters blinking half the map 1v1 is a bit stupid though. It's not like they have to do that when they can stack x50 shields. But I guess that's often a matter of build as well. Maybe they have a glass-house, full penetration, crit build and that wimp blink instead of Streak. Good sorcerers tend to stay and fight tho.

But there's also a very short dps window in PvP when you try to 1v1 or ambush someone. You can't have a fight that lasts more than a minute, their allies will show up. If the fight is turning into sustain, you might as well you leave.

When Sorcerers start spamming Bolt Escape, personally spam a gap-closer to keep dealing damage to them and remain in range, and a Speed potion if needed.

When Nightblades start spamming Cloak, personally use a Detection potion followed by a gap closer to move in and finish them off.

In lieu of cooldowns this game has resource and skill management.

Your video would probably interest me more if it was 7 hours of footage highlighting people trying to escape and dying instead, rather than your inability to counter escape skills.

Yeah op should make a second video of bloopers. I got a bolt sorc killed a few times in some hilarious bolt fails. In one he bolted through a root into a river and sunk and got focused killed, and another time he bolted through a trap into a slaughter fish river, got locked, sunk to the bottom and eaten alive by slaughter fish. Bolt off a cliff and dead from fall damage is always a good laugh too.

I think he/she is getting at the fact the opponent had the guts to attack out of stealth but couldn't finish the job. So they ran. I might have misunderstood though.

No, you won't run out of Stamina if it is just Invasion vs Streak. Cause Invasion costs 270 Stamina and Streak 270 Magicka on first use and 405 Magicka with every following Streak if cast within 4 seconds of the last one.

But you will never ever close the gap cause during the 2 seconds disorient from Streak, the Sorcerer can streak 2-3 times and will be out of 22y range for a Gap closer or you will run out of Stamina from Break free.

If nbs should not be allowed to escape then they should have a chance to win in a straight open fight instead which they don't have at the moment.
