    It. was. not. a. bug.

How much clearer can this be made?

I feel like either the detractors have a problem with reading comprehension, or they are trolling, or both.

Hmmm don't know how narrow you are defining bug lets call it an unintended result from coding this mechanic that is now fixed

    Is that better precious ?

No, that is a lie also.

It is an intended feature. It was brought up during testing and multiple times the devs said it was working as intended. Same for when it was brought up after testing. They just flip flopped because of a few whiners.

Why do people post their opinions when they haven't bothered to get the actual details on the problem?

    Wow

Some people have stubbornness running through their veins.

It was not intended - hence the change

It's like saying there was no rain while standing in a giant rain puddle

    To suggest otherwise is crazy

It was intended though, and the devs said so.

I suppose you have never heard of people suddenly changing their mind later...

    That's exactly what happened.

Thought I'd leave this here, though.

You can still do this, in combat, out of combat, pretty much whenever you feel like it.

But it's running fast out of combat that people had a problem w/, I guess.

It's my understanding that Dark Stalker is what is supposed to give vampires their supernatural speed ability that set them apart as a "class" or "race" (which is actually an advantageous attribute in PvP, not simply an aesthetic), whereas the Night's Silence sneak speed bonus was provided for non-vampire players to attain a similar ability, if they so desired. The stacked combination was always an oversight, the use of which constituted an "exploit."

I don't see the problem with that setup, except that a lot of players got used to playing under the exploit, so it feels like a nerf.

And with the Night's Silence set's current "broken" status, I'm sure the disappointment feels magnified. But please forgive me if I find it difficult to sympathize with those that are upset by the "fix."

P.S. I believe ZOS has said that changes such as these, those based on player feedback, are prioritized by a "majority rules"-type system. It is not likely they simply pandered to the "whiners." Each complaint/feedback message/suggestion is a "point" for that change/non-change, with the deciding factor being that suggestion that accumulated the most supporting comments. In conjunction with the point above, should it be true, this fix was inevitable and logical, not surprising nor perplexing.

Then they teach you to do research, after school reading and homework, then they call on you in class to see if you did it or not..

Apparently, you did not do it..

The correct answer is ZOS flip flopped on the set, it only became a issue after people cried and complained about it.. thus the set got nerfed..

    So endeth the lesson.

And ZOS has lost subs over it.

It seems odd from a company that makes money from subs would make the flip on the set in a first place, surely the writing was on the wall when there was the uproar in the PTS by those using the set.

    Meh..

I'm not effected by it, as I switched to Hundigs and the Sentry set with the release of 1.43 hit the PTS as I knew the nerf was imminent, still ZOS has lost subs directly because of it, and I know other NB's that have rage quit because again Cloak is broken and the p(l)ayers are saying enough's enough.

Maybe ZOS will be a little more careful before they roll out updates in the future and actually LISTEN to the comments made in PTS.

    Issue with patch 1.4.3

To give some background on myself. I was not a MMO player when I started playing ESO. Personally I have a very long history of playing games on PCs some 32+ years now. I started playing PC games on an IBM PC 5150 turbo XT clone back in 1982 with an 8088 CPU and today through many upgrades have an x79 4960x with 3d surround 4way quad SLI titans with 1 titan black for dedicated Physx

What a complete waste of money, unless you are doing serious water cooling for world record bench marks all that hardware is a complete waste.

I don't have a problem with the vampire speed stacking.

It would have been a unique build, so long as it was hurting in other aspects like survivability.

A glass dagger than moves faster than horses? Sure... provided it can't survive too easily if it gets caught.

Which was exactly what we were til the nerf.

but not really, i could be a templar mage vamp build and have multiple shields up after attacking( opposite of glass cannon) but still quaff an invisible potion before dying and be impossible to find because i have basically mounted and can "sneak" run VERY far.
thankfully no more, its reasonable to try an escape but unreasonable to flee the scene much faster then anyone can run while opponents are not even allowed to mount because they are stuck in combat with you.

With respect, this is NOT how it works, and this is the sort of misunderstanding that led to it being nerfed.

In order to get the sneak speed you have to be out of combat. Using NB Cloak/drinking an invisibility potion does NOT put you out of combat. You could NOT drink an invisible potion and run away fast. Ever. What you are saying simply isn't true. Period.

Yet people ignored those trying to politely point this out and kept repeating this fallacy over and over like they knew what they were talking about and eventually, sheer repetition got it nerfed.

Personally, I don't think they are done with this set. What I think they will end up doing (and I won't take the credit for this because I read someone else say it before I ever did) is set a CAP on sneak stacking somewhere between vampire speed alone and the pre-patch speed of vamp+Night's Silence.

That way vampires will still be able to sneak somewhat faster than a mortal if they also wear the set.

It seems only fair considering that is why many ARE vamps in the first place.

Vampires should only be mobs. Too much twilight I think. I'm so sick of vampires and zombies. Stake them all and burn them. Or are they unaffected by the classical stuff, just like every new movie that comes out and even has them wearing crucifixes like Chris Angel, haha. Vampire hunters make for much better content. Some kickass puritan that looks like a Gothic gunslinger with a heavy crossbow adorned with pieces of scripture and reliquae and silver tipped blessed wooden bolts, all the while chewing garlic like tobacco. Hehe.

p.s. I'm not religious, and in all seriousness, people who want play vampires have just as much passion as people who don't and that's groovy too. Sorry to hear you got nerfed.

One of my good friends that plays a lot of MMOs warned me about MMO in general and told me to stay away from them if you know what is good for you.

    Three things:

1.) He said there will be a lot chatter from people that are just plain stupid or mean. From my observation I only saw this the first two months of play but recently I have not been observing this behavior I don’t know if this because I am not seeing it or maybe at higher levels this is just less of an issue.

2.) He said watch your play time because he said he knows me and I will lose myself within the game and this will cause wife aggravation. This he was 100% correct, but now I believe I have some control over it, however it still like a drug or an addiction but I do have some will power and can set limits on myself then stick to them.

3.) Most important he said at some point the designers will negate or nerf something you do. This is the reason I posting the message to this ESO forum.

    1.)

MMOs do unfortunately attract people who see their own interests higher than those of others. I count you as one of them. This isn't a Twilight game, Vamps shouldn't have a priority in my opinion.
While I am all for having realistic games with a lot of different classes and their pros & cons, its sadly the players who exploit these a lot so that they must be balanced. Its the Vampire players own fault, maybe not yours but of others who use these things to their advantage by harassing others in pvp.

    2.)

The only danger losing yourself in an MMO is a good guild and lots of friends. But this isn't any different to the RL I suppose as I tend to get lost with my friends as well sometimes we go out and before we get home its 10AM the next day even though we only wanted to go for a few hours :D

    3.)

By fixing exploits and a negative experience for other gamers ZO actually does good for the game. In my opinion ZO is still way to soft, with me in charge everyone who did abuse Crag, Cyrodil or the Hirelings would be on vacation for a long time - yes ZO doesn't seem to care a bit and lets it all happen.

I think that they should put MORE levels in Vampire and Werewolf skill lines, and make them possible to level up only by specific ''tasks'' (i.e. feeding, creating other vampires, night-time kills, etc.) and not by generic XP. This way vampires could be given more effective skills, but unlocked only if you embrace the vampire's way for real! The issue with vampires is that EVRYBODY can cap the skill line in 2 hours of daily quests or something like that...so we're FULL of young vampires that are as strong as Day1 vampires, made only to use the occasional exploit...and it's not possible to have such a background spoiled like that imho!!!

Vampires - in myth, and legend, are purported to be the fastest moving 'creature' (that I know of anyway). I cannot understand this reaction to “fix” the speed finding out that vampires can move faster than anyone, but the decision to be a vampire does have its drawbacks. Everything has a positive and negative.
Correct me, but in myth and legend, a Vampire dies at once if he get in touch with sun light. How about this:

You get back the insane speed but at daylight your character will always instant die, if you leave a house.

    Deal?

full of misstruths and propaganda................... ur understanding is wrong .... no tool tip or any documentation says night silence reduces stealth movement penelty before 1.4 ..... it used to say "increases stealth movement speed by 60%" .... Zos was asked if Night Silence was working as intended in PTS and Zos replyed yes. IF Zos said no, and the changed it before it went live in 1.3, no one would have made armor/weapon sets and no one would be whining.

nothing was broken in night silence and there is no way to exploit it (if exploit means gain unfair advantage) .... if anything it is an amusing disadvantage that hinders one greatly in combat.

Your third point about majority rules is a misleading misstruth. When ZOS, announced (out of the blue) night silence will be nerfed in the next PTS 1.4 update, the forum opinion was running at least 5:1 against nerfing it. The thread had a sensationally headline that implied one could sneak faster than any horse with this armor.... if you try it, you will find you can only sneak faster than the slowest horses..... which any one can run faster than.

IF THIS NERF bothers YOU, PLEASE everytime u see someone frame a false argument on why this nerf was need .... .... PLEASE COMMENT and CORRECT the misleading lies. ( common examples are night silence armor are faster than fastest horses .......... stacking is unfair....... its an exlpoit ............. Zos was completley surprized people could sneak so fast)

The ARMOR my never be fixed & i can live with that but i want ZOS to remember "how bad they messed things up with night silence nerf" before there next whimsical nerf based on incorrect facts in forum post. ITS there freakin game they should be experts on it, and have the ability to distiguish between what is this weeks thing to whine about and what is actually game breaking.

If they lose some subs and get negative press, that my be what it takes for them to get a long range plan for this games balance vs just randomly nerf things.

Um... Werewolves already work that way. You only get Werewolf XP for killing things in wolf form. You can slot the two Werewolf skills onto your bar and level them up the way you would any other skill (though you can't use them in human form), and the transform itself levels up like any ultimate. But... that is how werewolf works.

The stealth issue and Nights Silence as far a I am concerned will go unfixed just like many of the other issues have. Broken skill lines and abilities seem to be the norm with ZOS and its updates. Also the norm is to leave many issues unaddressed. ZOS actions have proved they could care less. If they did there would of been several hot fixes since Monday's major update addressing many of the serious issues that have been reported. So ZOS I see in the very near future you loosing a vast majority of your player base if that has not started already. Just by reading many of the comments from players I see an ever growing pattern starting. Players are fed up and frustrated.

So I assume you have never heard of Dracula.

Dear god, people. Literacy is your friend. This whole Twilight debacle would never have happened if these 12 year old fanboys and girls had read a few good classic horror novels instead of the garbage modern day writers vomit up for quick cash.

    Issue with patch 1.4.3

    “Vampire
Fixed an issue where you could stack the Dark Stalker passive with the Night’s Silence or Shadow Dancer’s Raiment item sets to move at mount speed. This is no longer possible—you get the bonus from either Dark Stalker or Night’s Silence or Shadow Dancer’s Raiment.”

    [...]

At this point I could move like a galloping horse in stealth mode. Although when I entered combat in most cases unless I was very careful or had a healer I would not last long. But for me this was a good trade. Now with patch 1.4.3 I move like a normal character walking speed in stealth mod and I am still weak. I feel like I have just wasted hundreds of hours for this privilege. Please fix this and restore the Dark Stalker stacking ability.

Vampires in the Elder Scrolls were never known, that I am aware of, for being exceptionally fast. Furthermore, as far as I am aware, the "super fast" vampire is more a Hollywood/Pop culture invention than it is a legitimate lore/legend issue with vampires, and I couldn't care less what Hollywood or Pop culture has to say on the matter. In the admittedly-limited reading I have done into actual, real-life vampire lore (primarily from Eastern Europe), I have not come across super speed as being a trait of vampires.

If we are going to bring "real world" lore into this, I should also be able to throw a bag of rice at your vampire and do him in while he's obsessively counting each grain, but I don't think you vampires want that, do you?

The lore and legend we are concerned with here is Elder Scrolls lore and legend--not vampire lore and legend at large, and especially not pop vampire traits from Hollywood or "Twilight". If it doesn't concern Elder Scrolls vampires, then it is of no concern to ESO.

Where were you people while the forum warriors were QQing about these sets and convincing ZOS to nerf it into the ground and pretend like it was a bug?

Happy people don't go to the forums though, I guess.
If I recall there were actually more people on the forums in support of keeping the stacking effect. There was only a small vocal minority that kept whining about it.

These fallacies that forums have anything to do with what a game company does when it comes to balance are always comical.

Guys seriously; you can believe me or not but I'm telling you, game developers don't care about gaming forums, hell a ton of them don't even play games.

This. I don't know where/when the idea of the "super-fast" vampire entered our culture, but someone needs to decapitate it, stuff the mouth with garlic and seal the tomb up with communion wafers.

OP: if the only reason you played this game was for faster stealth movement, I think you're probably playing the wrong game. You might want to play a game that's called "Moving Really Fast While Being Stealthy II: The Stealthening". Then again, you may also want to not base your entire gameplay experience around a single (and unbalanced) mechanic.

I am actually shocked by how many vampire hating zealots are on this board now. If the game is so awesome now that the Vampire character class is hamstrung so badly it is completely ineffective. If that is the case go and play, you one! Your game is so much better now, the righteous have one! This is only my day two of ever being on the forums and that is because my game play has been broken for me thanks to patch 1.4.3.

I should have been clear and defined the super-fast speed on the vampire in Skyrim was only obtained in Vampire Lord form.

I really like some of the vampire Hollywood/Pop culture, but reassured that is NOT were the speed idea to myth came from. I enjoy reading vampire stories and history in general for that matter. As far as I know the vampire myth as we know it today came before Hollywood capitalized on it. From what I know it came from Greek mythology. More specifically Apollo who curse Ambrogio that his skin would burn if he ever was in sunlight, Ambrogio ended up losing his soul to Hades through gabling, and Artemis made it so he could not touch silver. Artemis also had a heart so this goddess gave him the gift of immortality, SPEED, and strength. The blood sucking was also a gift from Artemis so Ambrogio could renew his health.
