However, goblins (and other disguises, skellies, etc ...), in PvP, can serve as a tactical advantage, either blatantly (reducing the hit-box), or more subtly - when disguised, other players can't see your armor type (or even, race), and thus lose an chance to make a reasonable guess at your playstyle.

Sorry, dude but your arguments don't work out..
    • Everyone and their grandma is wearing light armor in pvp (majority)..
    • You do not recognize other classes by the armor (!) but by the skills they use, by unique play styles
    • Eso is a stealther-game, so why do you care about a disguise, when most players are stealthing all the time.
    • You can even /playdead to reduce your hitbox, no valid point
    • There is a disguise that lets you look like a peon / similar to the NPCs of the farm at Aleswell. So this would be a major exploit, if and only if we consider disguises as any sort of bug abusing & exploiting.
    • Lastly, disguises simply are no exploit. To the contrary, they make you easilily spottable in the mass and you will attract more enemies because of your non stereotypical, non-conformist looking in a game with just 4 (!) classes.. ... ....

    No point to discuss

Yes, how dare someone be upset by the idea of an item which they made an effort to collect and which they enjoyed using being arbitrarily taken away!

Oh, right, but because it's something that you personally don't care about that means that it doesn't matter.

Hey guys, just want to clear up some confusion. If you abandon the quest A Goblin's Affection, the Shadowsilk Gem will be removed from your inventory. However, if you pick up this quest and even complete it, you will keep the Shadowsilk Gem and can transform yourself into a goblin. We are not planning to take this item away from you.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I saved many of those costumes on my bank space.. Even thrown away some useful stuff to keep them there and use every now and then when i roleplay..

If they really are going to take all these away or even some, i am going to be very angry and stop supporting the game for couple of moths. I have been subscriber from launch and even kept it going for support while i totally not even logged on for couple of moths. Just to support the game.

These items are just for fun and for RP, there is no need to be bad company and take our toys away :( This is just pointless.

I see an evil plan of marketing people here too.. They take all these costumes away now and within a year there will be in game shop where you can buy these very same items for cash.. Just evil..

Oops.. It seems i did not read long eough >_< Sorry about the confusion :)

I do hope all those costumes from completed quests are here to stay and that if we lose the costume, we can always go and get new one.

I'm amazed that this went over a full page without mentioning the PvP aspect.
The reason your guild wants you to wear it (and the reason ZO is fixing it) is because the disguise reduces your hitbox. It's being used as an exploit.
So that's why we can't have nice things.

If you can't hit a damn goblin in a whole zerg of damn goblins, you probably shouldn't be in Cyrodiil.

Next thing you know, every small woodelf will be labeled as an exploiter too.
I mean, have you actually seen their cute little ponies?

I just joined a PVP guild that asks members to wear it. I wasn't too excited about that because I worked hard on my appearance, but they're so well coordinated, I'd wear a pink dress if they asked me. Fully against the removal of an item that does nothing to detract from the game.

Really? Is there information detailing this somewhere? Does this mean if I play my tiny Bosmer is my hit box reduced compared to my bountiful Orc? If that is the case is wouldn't PvP be full of creepy little Bosmer? (although killing other people seems appropriate for the feral, carnivorous rat elves!).

It's just a bug, and it's not game breaking. Really not worth making a big deal about it. Making an mmo is hard work. If you think you can do a better job, go do it.

The goblin gem has been usable since early beta :(, it's a disguise. Why they would remove it because of a single patch post-launch having an animation glitch is beyond me... I don't give a whit about roleplaying personally (and respect to the OP for stating a good argument and even recognizing that many of us don't) but I A) see no reason to remove the disguise and B.) have used it from time to time for laughs myself. Pulling random fluff from the game doesn't make sense. I also would be annoyed if I were an rp'er who enjoyed using the gem, so for that alone even I'd support this thread and ask that it not be removed.

Heh, my post was tongue in cheek.

Absolutely no need to remove this. It's a trophy and some people like to look like a Goblin just like many(myself included) like to look like a Skeleton. If anything, they should add more things like this not remove them.

I'd hope/assume ZoS would be smart enough to make all the hitboxes for player characters stay the same size regardless of the size of the model. Problem would be that the goblin is an NPC model that wasn't designed with player use in mind, thus (like crabs, for instance) there was no reason not to give it a smaller hit box.

Presumably if the hitbox issue is real (and a problem) they could create a separate player version of the goblin model that has the same hitbox as the other PC models.

As was mentioned on page 2 by @Zos_GinaBruno the CSR I spoke with, was incorrect. I'm disappointed that I am required to do so much legwork on a game I pay to play (not that I advise Free2Play) but sometimes you have to apply the oil to get rid of the squeak. I have edited the title of the thread to cut down on further posts. In short, The Gems Stay IN!

For those who may have had a similar issue to me, here's the latest email I got for my incredible vanishing Shadowsilk Gem. Often, those of us who are full up on bag space, will mail a bunch of nonsense to a friend who will then return the mail to us as a way to stay in the field a little longer and it costs a little gold but that's okay. IF you do this with the gem, guess what? Mailing the Shadowsilk will cause it to vanish from the mail as an attachment. so don't do it.

This does not happen with other costume items though I admit, i have not tested this the the Skeleton gem or the one that turns you into moths and I'm a bit nervous to do this but, it should be tested.

Also, there seems to be 2 versions of the Shadowsilk Gem, but perhaps devs can correct me: A version you get while you are doing the mission in Stonefalls, and one you get after you return to the quest giver upon rescue of the hostage elf in goblin form. The one I lost was the later, in case any were wondering but in my experimentation on multiple characters, the Shodowsilk Gem does not survive -ANY- mailings, including the mail sent back to you from a Guild Store if you cancel an attempted sale of the item.

Now... I'm not condoning the prevention of selling object such as these, I'm into free-market, but, I would advise against ANYONE purchasing one of these from a guild store as you will likely receive an email from the store thanking you for your purchase, and there will be nothing in the attachments. I would however think that this is a sticky wicket for devs. If my advice stands for anything, please do not disallow the dissemination of costumes from other factions via mail. I have actually outfitted the members of my thieves guild in one of the darker leather outfit costumes and to do this, I generally mail the costumes to a guild manager for dissemination. It's a good thing, options and what ostensibly is playing dress-up, which in the end, this thread is about and protecting that ability.

I'm proud of you ESO for your prompt addressing of this quandary and a bit thanks to you @Zos_GinaBruno. You get a banana sticker...

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom‌ @ZOS_GinaBruno‌

What about those of us who completed this quest in early April? It was a VR quest I completed in April and there was no "Shadowsilk Gem" only a prompt to hit "E" and transform into a goblin while in the quest area. Once completed, the ability to transform was gone. That said, months down the road you implemented the "Shadowsilk Gem" and those of us already finished were unable to receive it.

If we wanted to get a Shadowsilk Gem, we needed to make an alt and then transfer it to whatever character.

So here is my concern: Those of us who have a Shadowsilk Gem transfered from an alt, will we lose it? My main character completed this content in April so getting this gem legitimately was not an option.
