It's just a bug, and it's not game breaking. Really not worth making a big deal about it. Making an mmo is hard work. If you think you can do a better job, go do it.

The goblin gem has been usable since early beta :(, it's a disguise. Why they would remove it because of a single patch post-launch having an animation glitch is beyond me... I don't give a whit about roleplaying personally (and respect to the OP for stating a good argument and even recognizing that many of us don't) but I A) see no reason to remove the disguise and B.) have used it from time to time for laughs myself. Pulling random fluff from the game doesn't make sense. I also would be annoyed if I were an rp'er who enjoyed using the gem, so for that alone even I'd support this thread and ask that it not be removed.

Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

Seems a bit heavy-handed to give something like the cool gem and then say, sorry, we fecked up, give us it back! Especially when it costs nothing. I say change it to part of the quest reward.

I always wanted to get my whole raid in Cyro to equip the gem and run around as a huge goblin ganking group! >:)

Mostly Harmless has done so, it's a riot... I'm sad to see them talking about disabling it.

Does this mean all the costumes that were really needed for quest but not actual rewards will go away also? I mean I really like some of those...

I just joined a PVP guild that asks members to wear it. I wasn't too excited about that because I worked hard on my appearance, but they're so well coordinated, I'd wear a pink dress if they asked me. Fully against the removal of an item that does nothing to detract from the game.

I'm amazed that this went over a full page without mentioning the PvP aspect.

The reason your guild wants you to wear it (and the reason ZO is fixing it) is because the disguise reduces your hitbox. It's being used as an exploit.

So that's why we can't have nice things.

Does anyone think we will hear from the powers that be about this? Honestly taking away what is arguably one of the coolest disguises in game because it wasn't intended is like giving a little kid a new toy and then taking it away the next day and saying oopsie I didn't really want you to have this.....

It's a no good rotten horrible no good very bad thing to do.... Next thing you know they will be giving mice cookies and vendors will be Cats in Hats

Ah well, there's the reasoning then. I didn't realise it reduced the hitbox.

How hard would it be to change the hitbox so that it is normal size? (That's an honest question, not a complaint.)

Good to know, thanks. I won't wear it then. I refuse to partake in BS.

Yes, I'm against this sort of exploitation and feel that if this is the case, it's a simple matter to have this disguise not usable in PVP zones.

Still, if one of the fuses if bad on the car, you replace it. You do not junk the car.

I have fewer issues seeing goblins running around towns but skeletons look stupid as no town would allow undead to walk around. The skeletons have to go too asap if goblin goes.

I hope an option appears someday so RPrs can continue to use such things but with less of a visual impact on the world. Once justice system is in game have guards attack players not looking human. :)

That aside just disable disguises in cyrodill, everytime something gets abused in PVP the PVE people get screwed over

    ^^This.

Goblins (and other disguises, skellies, etc ...) are fun. So we should keep them.

However, goblins (and other disguises, skellies, etc ...), in PvP, can serve as a tactical advantage, either blatantly (reducing the hit-box), or more subtly - when disguised, other players can't see your armor type (or even, race), and thus lose an chance to make a reasonable guess at your playstyle.

Let's face it : even if both wield a 2Hander, you won't approach an Orc in heavy armor the same way you'd approach an Altmer in robes. But a goblin ?

Just disable all disguises in PvP. Give the goblin fans a similar quest reward which gives the good looks but a full hitbox ;)

Opinions are like buttholes : Everybody has one, and they usually stink.

    3 things to reduce stamina/magicka imbalance :
    - Use magicka to block abilities costing magicka, instead of stamina.
    - Add % damage reduction to heavy armor.
    - Add block penetration to 2H.

And let the Goblins surf their horses standing in the saddle for all I care. I don't mind. They are a beast race, after all, and would probably approach horseback riding with a different mentality than others.

(Actually, seriously, I think they should probably add that horseback animation, fix the hitbox, and keep the disguise, but disable it in PvP.)

Although I do not have the item because I completed the quest before they made this quest item, I still don't think they should remove it.

Make it as a quest reward or leave it like that and that's it. Just make unable to be used in Cyrodiil and problem solved.

Good news that the item is staying :)

So if it's staying, could we fix the horse riding animation so I don't surf around Cyrodil?

Oh and fix /dance too please. Every good goblins gotta dance!....

I did this quest too long ago. I need to get an alt through this quest before this is fixed so I can go horse surfing!

The heck with the upcoming 1.4 changes. I'll worry about those next month. Goblin horse surfing is now my top priority!

Hey guys, just want to clear up some confusion. If you abandon the quest A Goblin's Affection, the Shadowsilk Gem will be removed from your inventory. However, if you pick up this quest and even complete it, you will keep the Shadowsilk Gem and can transform yourself into a goblin. We are not planning to take this item away from you.

Great to hear! Can we get your CSR educated on this issue? Additionally, I'd love to get my ticket handled for the mystery of the vanishing Shadowsilk Gem?

Seriously, we are very happy to hear of this. I'll spread the good word.

    Simple solution would be:
    • Remove it.
    • Replace it with a new unbugged version either automatically or with a new quest.
    • Problem solved everybody is happy
