Leveling up their alliance rank for skill points? Getting the PvP-related achievements (player kills, ranks, titles, corresponding dyes)? Chance at getting emperorship? Buying gear with AP?
Errrrrr, what? PvP to colour your clothes, get a title and meaningless player kills from dumping oil on them? Also, what would this AP acquired gear be good for if not to win the campaign? You don't need that gear (and it sux anyway)-farming AP can be done naked. And I thought Emperorship was just time in game, not skill.... So who really cares about it? The Emp farmers say there is no need to remove the passives for former Emps because they aren't really much to speak of anyway... So why would a person want it so bad?
Oh well, different strokes, right? At least I understand the mindset and realize they are not worth my time.
Hey, I'm not defending them. I only mentioned the benefits that come along with earning AP and pointed out that AP can be used to buy things other than siege equipment. I don't do it myself; I've never been an AP farmer and I care about my campaign (I'm not in Thornblade, for the record). If people are farming AP without the intent to spend it, level up their rank, or go for emperor, it's possible they do it because they like farming (and/or killing players). People might be farming AP just to try to prevent other people in their campaign from catching up and being emperor until a reset.
I don't speak with the mindset of an AP farmer; my attempt was to answer your question as to why anyone would want to farm (earn, etc.) AP.

Yeah, it was a bit of a struggle at times. I do have to say that the back and forth at Blackboot had me all over the map. I finally went to bed after the epic standoff with EP at Allesia Mine. That was one hell of a battle.

never knew AD was this bad on this campaign.

Even then, an EP PUG still held them off at the Chim temple, at least two different times. I never knew AD was this bad on this campaign.

I can't really blame the oceanic crowd for wanting to be on the same server/faction in games so they have people to play with during their primetime. However, that fact doesn't make it any less frustrating that AD has a huge advantage because of it.

Unless they decide to bring some kind of "tenacity" buff to increase the strength of the players who are out numbered, this campaign is pretty much one sided already. I surrender, see you next campaign for hopefully some kind of challenge.
Meanwhile, it would be nice if people from DC and EP would stop rerolling AD toons to stack up in the winning team like people would do in shooter games.. Please tell me there is more than half of mmo pvp players who enjoy a challenging game rather than bragging about their own pvp rank..
