Respect comes from values. If you value small group fights those are the people you will respect. If you value objetive oriented gameplay, those are the people you will respect. I personally enjoy a good balance of everything. You can't execute strategies or play the objectives (conquer territory, earn points, take scrolls) unkess the team is skilled and coordinated, trainned on efficient tactics in big and small groups. But that is not all to me, the way the team handles defeat and comes back from it, or uses it to get a victory, is as important in my book.

Yesterday was a great example of what is fun to me and to most people in Vokundein. We wipped zergs, fought hordes of DC in glademist outnumbered with pretty much no deaths for a good while with a team of 24 until they finally wiped us. Then we pushed for Warden scroll keeping the fight in enemy territory. DC had a fast reaction and overwhelmed us at Warden too, and we moved on from there Saving chalman and keeping up the good fights. No fear to face bigger numbers, no fear to lose a battle. We fight other organized groups toe to toe, sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, it is what competitive means. That is what brings great fights and also results to our faction. EP came out on top and we remained there, and we will keep working. That is what I care about, that mindset is what got EP to turn the tides and win Wabba 1.0. We lost Wabba 2.0 because EP organized forces went on to value different things. AP and emperor farming, small skirmishes etc. So AD was superior on that round, and we had no time to turn te tides as they cut the campaign short. That is ok, cudos to AD for keeping it together more than EP in Wabba 2.0.

Now we have a close fight in Thornblade, and to me that is fun. I care about logging on and fighting all forces out there, random pugs, guild groups, big or small, I don't discriminate. We work with the EP and we aim for victory. We are a force to recon with and when we are out there in force we switch the tides of the campaign, EP players know that, and they work with us. All the e-peen stroking about who is actually skilled etc. I don't personally go for that, it means little in the end. I care about working with other EP guilds to have fun, and winning is fun. So far I think we're doing good, but it is a close battle, so let's keep working on it.

    +1 Well said.

lol k. i see why we havent fought yet, because its too risky for you i guess...

If you were EP, you would understand why they play so much. If they didn't, they would be behind probably by 5k-10k by now. I feel for them, it's tough when you got other decent guilds on other terrible campaigns for a free win, whooping on bums. They're just as good as anyone in open field, it's just not worth losing a keep to come kill your 3-4 man group you claim. You might kill 2-3 of them, and they will probably whipe you because of numbers, but why lose a keep to kill 4 of you? Even if it happened, it's not like they would come on here and post video's or brag about it. No one cares and were all just playing a game.

I already know your response though. "They're zergers.... thanks for the AP" blah blah blah etc.

no one respects you because youre terrible, and so is your mediocre guild. the only reason EP is winning atm is AD and DC have anger issues towards each other so you have been free to take keeps for the past day or two.

what you really mean is: no mercy, alacrity, and die wipe us. but we can wipe EG because they are god-awful even know they have 5x everyones numbers.

Well, this was quite the thread to read (pre-modding). Reading the posts, and taking my PvP experiences in this game since release into consideration, I can only conclude a few things:

    1) There are a lot of people who outright cheat. I have read about it many times here and have seen screenshots. I have also experienced time and time again things in Cyrodiil that absolutely could not be considered normal game-play. Speed hacks, uninterruptible and un-escapable CC, a person taking absolutely ZERO damage when doing a total resource dump on them (even when outnumbered), etc. Someone earlier said there are no hacks in this game. ***. Gold Farmers proved how easily this game could be hacked.

    2) there are a lot of people who use Exploits to "win" (however they want to define the term for themselves). While not technically "cheats", these are things that any semi-reasonably thinking person would recognize as broken. Makes PvP boring, IMO. I tend to leave during the real bad times- bats, vamp DKs/ Standards, Caltrops, Silver Shards.... etc.

    3) as this is the first game I've ever PvPd in, I will likely never be competitive here. I had my cherry popped in Beta and was surprised how much fun it was. I was never a fan of the idea of PvP because of all the @$$hole griefers it tends to attract. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience in TESO. Unfortunately, I am not in the "cool kids club" who finds out how to do the cheats and hacks and keep them to themselves in order to be able to dominate with unrealistic ease. 4vs20? 30? and 40? Again, ***. There is NO WAY for anybody to be able to do this without cheating. I don't care how awesome a player they are with the most uberest of gear. No frigging way. There aren't that many groups of that size composed entirely of [snip] out there. There will always be at least a couple competent players and then it becomes a battle of attrition and numbers will win out. If not...... I assume the group of 4 can only be cheating.

    5) this thread has been enlightening for me to learn who out there is likely using hacks and cheats, so if I see them, I won't even bother trying to fight them- I know I would lose going into it.

But I'm finally starting to put an end game gear set together, rather than PvPing with random pieces of green sets. So maybe I might become competitive in time..... although it will likely never be on a level playing field.

Your entire post is full of blatant ignorance and naivety, but I think this line sums up exactly how much you do NOT know about PvP games and what you turn to when you don't understand something or game mechanics. You turn to claiming the opponent must be cheating, exploiting, hacking (lol). You claim yourself this is your first PvP game, don't be a lemming that immediately assumes hacking/exploiting because they got destroyed.

It is unlikely I will change your mind here as, lets be honest, its the internet, all I can hope is you'll try harder and realize exploits and hacks are not the reason you fail. Own up to it and try to become a better player, or your experience in games like these.... you're gonna have a bad time

On a side note you vastly, vastly overestimate the amount of "hacks" in this game, there are little to no hacks. There are exploits sure, but they are getting fixed.

Groups optimizing certain skills ≠ exploiting, meng. It's not likely for 4 - 8 to kill 20+ organized players of similar game skill. But it is possible for 4 - 8 players with optimal builds and group play to kill 20+ with suboptimal builds and tactics.

I and one other have wiped nearly a full group on a resource because we ambushed them on the flag and were able to plant oil before they responded. (When they finally tried, there was a negate and two of my banners on them.) If we traded blows we'd obviously lose. The point being that no cheating is necessary for lesser numbers to overcome greater numbers. A bit of creativeness with skills and tactical cleverness is quite necessary, however.

Fewer players can beat many more with no need to resort to cheating. That's why cheating is so pathetic. We all know blatant cheating. It is NOT using existing skills as they are designed to be used. Getting to an enemy spawn camp is cheating. Knowingly porting to a forward camp at the enemy spawn is cheating. Pretty clear.

I'm not denying I am inexperienced. I won't even deny some level of ignorance. But I'm not a terrible player. I'm not a stupid player. I take every loss as a learning experience and I know I will get better over time.

But you're right- you're not going to convince me some of these people are not using hacks and cheats. I've been in large-ish groups of *very* experienced PvPers who get wiped by an impossibly small force and everybody in channel is saying "wtf was that? How is that even possible?" Or seeing a group at one side of the map and 2 minutes later taking a forward camp to a flagged keep at the other side of the map and lo and behold- who shows up out of the blue (no opposing FC anywhere nearby), but those same people. Over and over again as the night goes on. Very uncanny.......

Stuff like that makes it hard to believe that these people play legitimately. It's not a matter of smart tactics or getting the jump. It's just downright impossible.

Ahhhhh. Makes sense. Yes, it does become quite obvious in time.

So here's another honest question- What do people do with all this AP that they "farm"? What good is it for, other than to buy siege equipment to win battles and ultimately the campaign? But these self proclaimed AP farmers say they don't care about the campaign, just farming the AP. Is there some secret use for them in the cool kids club? I'm confused and would like to learn more....
