I worked with Jason's team and the problem was resolved for me. The best thing you can do to help them figure this out is to do what Jason is asking. Open a ticket and give them the Game Consultant file. This is the most valuable information you can give them. Patterns will develop and problems will get resolved.

If you want to go it alone, my suggestion is to generate a game consultant log file and then rename it "Before Updates.txt" Next go out and update your video and sound drivers. If applicable, change the launcher to start in WinXP Compatibility Mode with Admin Rights.

Play the game for a few hours. Generate another game consultant log file and rename it "After Updates.txt".

Now open a ticket and send them the files. Tell them your results. Tell them if this fixed your problem or not. You will not only help yourself, but others as well.

    Good Luck!

P.S.: When I updated my video drivers, it tried to "optimize" for ESO. It set the video resolution to low and everything looked bad. I changed it back to "High" in the game and left everything else.

    I opened a ticket, a new one #3 as of patch 1.3

    @ZOS_JasonLeavey‌
The only way I'm able to play is by running the launcher in compatibility mode as administrator in Win 8

This identifies that TESO is not compatible with windows 8.1 laptops.
The game is compatible with windows XP SP3, Win 7, Win 8 compatibility modes but not Win 8.1 (The game runs a bit choppy in compatibility mode regardless of my video settings)

Now that doesn't mean this error will not come back later today but running it in win 8 compatible mode did allow me to play uninterrupted for 45 mins today.

*This is not answered or fixed but hoping to provide more details to your team working on this problem.

**It also requires that any other programs that run with your game also be run in compatibility mode. Sometimes I play on my big TV and run Xpadder in the background, so I have to run both in this mode but then I have to run Xpadder in non-compat mode for other games.

Same with an Voice chat apps running in the background while playing.

Well i came again but in compatibility mode there is no data load pop-up it just goes into the crash screen as if I chose debug.

The customer support literally just sent me the post you listed....I'm a bit put off because I put a link in my ticket to this forum so being that they just copied and pasted it...I just asked for a game time credit towards the console release in 2015

I tried to run the repair in compatibility mode and guess what...it thinks I'm out of HD space. closed the repair and relaunched to run the game...silly

No progress. I have or was asked to set exceptions for any virus protection software for this game and any exe files.

Asked to clear my cache in IE that I don't use. But I cleared it and also Firefox

Asked to delete Program data folder, addons

Asked to run the launcher and any exe in compatability modes for win 8 and tried win xp sp

    Repaired a few times.

Uninstalled everything. Reinstalled and did the above again.

Even checked ports and sent multiple Game Consultant reports

It's not fixed and the error still happens. This has now gotten on reddit, this forum, steam and misc game sites. There are thousands of ppl getting this problem

    Windows and non windows. I
They need to make a sticky and set up a task force to fix this ASAP as something this big that is growing will literally cause the game to fail because ppl can't play for more than 10-30 mins without this error which eventually will crash the game even if it order a few times.

Now I know why it's not on console. It can't pass cert

From reading this post i noticed players saying they could see boxes wrapped with red missing paper, then the error "Critical Error(ArtData)" - Data Load Failure suggests that there is an item/asset in the world in which you are having a problem loading.

    - broken texture/item in-game -> /bug report it then run in the opposite direction :)

    - your graphics drivers are having a problem loading the texture or effect(drivers/3d settings) update drivers or tweak settings in control panel(CCC or Nvidia Control Panel) both AMD and Nvidia have new drivers in the last few weeks.

It was also said that it happened after the lighting changes were brought in a patch so the compatibility with certain cards could be a factor.

Doubt it is network or connectivity related, repair should fix files but if your graphics card cant handle it reinstalling all day wont help.

^ So far, I haven't experienced issues with running the game on my end after I managed to download and install my video card's new driver (340.52 for my Nvidia Geforce GTX 670), so I'll continue seeing how things go with that when I log on a bit later.

    Hello again!

Thank you for the quick reply. I completely understand your frustration and appreciate you performing all of the troubleshooting steps. At this time, our team is currently investigating a fix for this issue. Thank you for your patience as we work on getting this resolved.

Please keep an eye on the forums for any updates we have on this bug. We have a thread here to discuss it: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/114209/data-load-failure
You can also try to change their resolution from the General Settings while in game.
Please email me back if you have any questions!

Didn't have any issues after I updated my video card driver and re-installed the game today, nor any prompts requesting for me to change Windows 7's Color Scheme to Basic when barely any of my CPU/GPU was being used up. I'll continue keeping a close eye on how that continues to go over these next few days, though, under more strenuous play sessions.
You can also try to change their resolution from the General Settings while in game.

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't help if it's an issue with Missing Objects in the game.

I'm posting all the things they asked me to try...nothing resolved this issue but just in case another person joins this thread..here are the actions I tried that did not resolve the issue. Hopefully this will save you a few hours.

I felt like I did a few things multiple times....and often felt like the support team was just reading from an outdated script.

In any event, I hope this saves you all time as I also requested this as a sticky by the moderators...

-In the mean time please follow the steps bellow and update me on the results. Some of these steps you may have already done, however sometimes after updates these things need to be re-done as the .exe files change.

Thank you so much for generating the new report and sending it in so promptly. I understand that Avast is new piece of software however I can confirm that it is preventing some data pockets from extracting correctly. You are also correct as it appears that there is another issue going on as we are experiencing 100% data loss on a node by the IP (107.14.19.65).
    >
    > First please make sure that files identified in my previous email all have an exception on Avast!
    > Open Avast (Double Click on the Avast icon in the system tray )
    > Select the Real-Time Shields tab
    > In the right pane click on the "Expert Settings" button
    > Select the "Exclusions" tab.

Thank you for your patience! I am very sorry you are experiencing this rather frustrating issue when trying to log into the game. My name is Zach and I am a tech agent here at Zenimax Online. I will do the best I can in order to help resolve this issue so you can enjoy Tamriel. What we'll have you do is delete that file, run a repair to rebuild those files, then press 'play' to make those settings repopulate.
    > First, you need to locate the file itself. The UserSettings.txt file is located in the Live or LiveEU folder, which are located here by default:
    > My Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\Live
    > My Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\LiveEU
    > Once you have located this file, please delete it. Then, open your launcher and run a repair.
    > Click on the Cog Gear under the "News" section of the launcher
    > Select "Repair" from the drop down menu
    > Give the launcher a few minutes to complete the repair. (It may go to 100% and then go back to 0% a few times-- this is normal, just let it finish)
    > Once the repair has finished, please press "Play." This will get you to the login screen, where you will need to re-sign the agreements and enter your one-time-password. After you have done this, however, you should be all set and ready to get back to playing!

My name is Aiden, I am one of the tech support agents here at The Elder Scrolls Online, and it would be my pleasure to offer assistance regarding this issue. I understand that you have missed some game time due to an earlier error and this is something we will gladly take a look at, but first lets get your game running again.
    >
    > To better understand this issue could you please provide my with your Game Consultant report!? This will help me determine what the issue is and how to best get it resolved. You can generate game consultant report the following way :
    >
    > Click on the golden cog icon in the top right corner of the game launcher.
    > Under SETTINGS - LAUNCHER, select the ABOUT tab. This tab includes the current launcher version, minimum specifications, and information about Game Consultant.
    > Click the "Game Consultant" button beneath the tool description.
    > A new window will pop up. When it does, click "Run Tests." This may take a few minutes.
    > When the test is complete, a new window will pop up saying "Success!" The report saves itself as a text file called Report.txt in the My Documents folder.
    > To retrieve the file, click the "Open Report Location" button on the Game Consultant window, or click "Open Report" to simply view it.
    > Once I have this information I will be able to provide you with a solution and steps necessary to resolve this issue. Normally an issue like this is related to Administrative privileges or missing data files due to antivirus or other third party software.

Ok, I have had numerous issues using reference NVidia drivers, but more especially nvidia Experience plugin not working properly with 3rd party cards.
My 770 blue screened a lot with memory issues using reference drivers + experience

My suggestion is do not download the NVidia drivers and experience option. Dump them (remove all trace of them) and try the proper drivers for your card from gigabyte if you have a gigabyte card....etc

Using the proper hardware drivers rather than the NVidia reference drivers may go a long way to resolving bugs unique to specific graphics cards. Especially as switching window modes appears to help and some driver updates appear to help.

I doubt this will fix everyones issue...but may help a few more.

Still getting this error as well, and my Wife and I have been getting this error since June ... (see the other threads about this issue)

Will a Full uninstall, and Reinstall fix this?? Because repairing, reporting, posting to the forums ... None of this has worked so far.
The error pops up at least once per day, sometimes more often, and usually at a bad time.

Specs for both of our machines (identical):
    Win 8.1 (DX11)
    I5-3330
    8 GB ram
250 GB SSD as the system drive (ESO is installed here)
ASUS GTX 760 OCII 2GB Vid Card
Razer naga and tartarus (wife doesn't have the tartarus)
50 Mb cable, priority gaming, internet connection

Current on All windows updates, video drivers, sound drivers, Razer drivers (just checked)

Side note: My wife and I were in the beta and we both had the ESOSurvey add-on at that time. I later found it sitting in the directory used for add-ons, and several references to the ESOSurvey add-on, and to my Beta characters (!!) in the ESO files in the Documents folder. After these files were removed, and I repaired through the launcher, the error was less frequent.
Additionally, closing the ESO launcher after starting the game makes the error occur even less frequently (1-3 times per day, rather than every 30-60 minutes) ... but it is *still* happening.

This is the only *major* bug we are continuing to experience, and this *never* happened during the Beta ... in fact, the Beta FPS that I personally saw, even in crowded areas was 60-90 ... on unmodified Ultra settings.

Now we sit with 44-60 (usually 59.9 for some odd, and unknown, reason), dipping down as low as 26 at times in crowded areas. This is on Reduced *High* settings (no grass, max draw 66, rather than 100, reduced water reflection, etc.)

Performance is supposed to get *better* after a Beta, not worse.

We want a resolution. And we want it yesterday.

@stefan.gustavsonb16_ESO Well, if it did nothing for your install, and based on the quote from @Hakhan‌ , a brand new clean install (as of 5 days ago) also results in this error, I'm gonna say that even a full reinstall will not solve the issue.

Best way is to contact the support I guess, and send a game consultant. Before sending it make sure all your video drivers are up-to-date and try if you get the error on both servers or only one of them (EU server migration might have come with problems somewhere)
