Hist Bark Nerf

From 20% dodge chance when blocking to 33% chance to gain 175 hp.

I use Hist bark with the medium armor skill Elude to both tank pve and in pvp. My entire build is now counter intuitive with this change, and if it goes through I'm out 55 Dreugh Wax for my 5 piece legendary set and also can't tank in medium armor.

Its great if you developers would like to add a tanking set that gives heals when blocking, that's a good idea for heavy armor, but please don't destroy this set with this change, it is literally the only defensive set that has synergy with medium armor.

Please leave Hist Bark with the dodge chance 5 trait, instead of breaking things that are working in game add new sets please.

The argument of the loss of Dreugh Wax is the most concerning. I too have 5 piece legendary along with a 3 pc legendary set to accent. These sets will undergo changes that will unmake their synergy and require me to rethink my armor. Though I appreciate the attempts at balance, and understand the gradual process of this, causing me to have "wasted" such rare and expensive mats is a painful pill to swallow, imo. I saved up my legendary mats from launch for the ease of crafting my end-game gear upon immediate arrival of such. Now, I will be 3 months behind of personal farming to achieve these mats again. Some may have different methods which provide these mats more frequently and/or easily and that is good for them. My style, however, has a casual aspect to it that I accommodated with the slow farm method. This will all be for nothing with the set changes.
Destroying the aspects of crafted gear that most people work long and tediously to achieve is not a good choice.
I don't typically cry for reimbursement for game changes that economically hurt me, but this is a HUGE blow to my MONTHS of efforts. At a x64 legendary loss, this will need to be addressed somehow for not just me, not just @Mykah, but for many, many, many players.

@Fissh They have to add a method for refunding with these kind of sweeping changes. It is needed though.

Yeah I agree with this. If they are changing the armor sets around they are really going to screw the end-game players who have made full sets of legendary armor.

On top of that, this really disincentivizes me from trying to make legendary end-game armor in the future, as I will always be concerned my efforts will be wasted come the next patch.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

I don't know if anyone has found this out as fact or not. I've read a lot of people who call it 20% chance, but I don't believe it is. I believe dodge chance has a soft cap like all other defenses (Armor Rating, Spell Resist, etc.)

Yea i've crafted about 6 sets of epic hist bark, and legendaried my own.

And no, this is a 100% nerf to hist bark of all types. Especially heavy.

Getting hit and being heals is a vast nerf, not better.

Heavy tanks in trials don't really die while blocking with a healer up. We die when we run out of stamina, the 20% dodge meant less stamina used, and thus less chance to run out.

It's not a huge deal, as imo tanking/survival is pretty easy in this game, and your massively high dodge build was maybe bordering on op. But yea, didnt need a nerf.

They should of simple examined the way all the +evade stuff stacked if they though the medium armor full dodge build was op, not nerfed individual stuff.

As yea my build only had 20% dodge ever, and now has 0%.

You also use magicka based attacks, hence you'll gain a dodge chance.

Indeed, pretty much all tanks whilst blocking use magika class skills at the same time

I was originally against the concept of refunding the materials used for these set upgrades. However after thinking about it, if they're providing free respecs (saved 20-25k gold for spec changes/ability changes), the amount I have DWARFS that sort of sum invested that I will be wanting to change around. I posted the following in another thread... I think they need to re-evaluate some of the major changes such as the 5pc hist bark and 3pc warlock for example, to keep them in line with their prior intents/power levels.

Personally I have around 16 (give or take one) legendary-upgraded items and a huge huge number of epics (probably 30 more past the legendaries), so for me that would be at minimum (since some of the legendaries dropped as blue or purple already)...

    - 128 gold upgrades
    - ~160 purple upgrades
    - ~120 blue upgrades
    - ~70-80 green upgrades (not so important)

Tally that up at an average of 3k a gold upgrade, 1k a purple, 300g a blue, and 50g a green, and that's not an insignificant sum of gold potentially lost (as a handful of pieces will be re-usable still) to this patch, in fact that comes to upwards of 588,000 gold in market value upgrades lost to the patch for me alone, which is many times a simple 20-25,000 gold respec cost.

After thinking of it in those terms, it would be nice if they could implement a way that reverted items to their original dropped-or-crafted state (color quality/rarity) and gave you back the upgrade materials used and the enchantments applied, for this patch cycle only or similar, so people could get their cash out of items that may be radically different due to 1.3. I normally wouldn't advocate this at all, but this is actually a moderate content patch and not a major new tier or retail expansion resulting in this huge shuffle of items, so it would be a good thing(tm) if they could do some sort of system like that...

So the people who needed a set that actually worked for what they wanted to do would have to be the only ones having to use more materials or gold on upgrading new stuff?

Is this set nerfed as of 10/9 ? I still see the original 5 set bonus listed on the armor. Also do we know for sure if this does not stack with the medium armor dodge skill?

    Wow, thread necromancy!

This thread is irrelevant. If you have a question about Hist Bark, start a new thread, not dig up one from the test server of over a year ago!

And, no, Hist Bark now grants a named buff "Major Evasion", so it cannot stack with any other source of that same named buff, e.g., medium armor's active skill or the nightblade's Blur.

AFAIK the set is not nerfed. As for your second question, yes, this was nailed down for sure almost a year ago, with ZOS commenting specifically to back up testing that Hist Bark and Dodge Buffs do not stack. Any character can only have 1 Major and 1 Minor buff active at a time. If you're going to use an armor skill like Elude, just use the Armor Master set from IC, which will give you more hp and Major Ward/Resolve buffs.
any other sets have been changed ?

Check out the patch notes at the top of this forum. They aren't that long and you can click the link to set changes.

Technically it was enhanced (from 18% to 20%), but some are calling it a "nerf" because it won't stack with Major Evasion abilities, which is why they originally crafted the set.
