You/they are doing it wrong. You got scammed hard by whoever sold you the mats.

So playing with different builds and using multiple legendary vr12 sets is doing it wrong? Wow I'm glad your not a dev because I certainly would not play a game made by u.

Not that is not wrong at all. I simply cannot imagine using so much time acquiring that much gold just give it to another player who is asking too much for it.

I see legendary materials go for as low as 2k sometimes, but it stands to reason that you can't always get that kind of a deal, so let's say 2.5k on average.

    You need 8 legendary materials to upgrade 1 item, so that's 2.5 * 8 = 20k per item.

Now, you need either 8 or 9 pieces per set. Let's just stick with 8. So for one set, that's 160k. If you have two sets, then that's 320k.

Seems like pretty standard numbers to me.

You have a month to gather new mats. On top of that, the set changes are already available, so you can go ahead and start building your new set. There is no reason that anyone shouldn't be able to come up with the mats to make a full set of gear by August.

This is entirely missing the point.

Changing some of the sets as they are is tantamount to just deleting the items from certain players.

I don't think ZoS should cancel the changes in 1.3 but I'd like to see there be an option for a 1 time "crafting materials refund" which consumes the Armor/Weapons and gives the player back all materials used in it's creation, but ONLY for cases like this where set bonuses are changing entirely. And this is coming from someone who DOESN'T have full legendary gear out of respect for those who DO and all the time/money/effort it took to get all that gear.

Yeh that really sucks, but honestly, tough luck.

That said, I am all for some kind of limited recycling service that refunds full mats for any piece of gear crafted before X date. I would limit it to something like 8 or 9 uses per player. However, they'd probably screw something up and someone would figure out how to exploit it to dupe a billion Tempers or something, so I can live with them just skipping it and saying tough luck.

And we don't have the tools we need to test these changes to the crafting on the PTS

we need crafting templates and special PTS vendors for the materials to do the crafting testing

This is why I didn't upgrade anything to legendary yet.

These changes are needed, and refund of crafting materials... not going to happen.

Why don't they just keep the old sets as they are and *gasp* ADD new sets (with new names) with the changes? Seems that would keep the current people happy enough without making their current gear completely useless, but still give people something to look forward to upgrading to.
  • Denaia

They could possibly just keep the old sets as it is with an expiration date of 1 month while all the new changes will then be on all newly dropped gear. That gives everyone an extra month to complete their new sets. I don't think they can just refund all materials without messing up the economy. They can't keep the old sets either as they just lean way too much towards casters while there are no good melee-stamina sets.

I normally poo-poo these types of requests also.

But I agree that this is a harsh action by Zenimax. They should set up a special vendor and for a month, allow people to trade in their crafted set gear for full temper refund, assumming a 3/3 skill level in the temper expertise skill line.

Otherwise, yes, people will quit. I would too. (not high enough level to have worked on legendary stuff yet though).

Another option to not completely antagonize players that just spend all their money on a legendary set that is now useless would be to allow a new option in the crafting stations.

An option to change an item's current set bonus to the one that the crafting station provides.
It could work much like the deconstruct option. You select an item, but instead of just being deconstructed you get another item instead which is exactly the same regarding level, racial style, trait, armor weight and armor quality and the set bonus of the station.

It can even have a cost of basic, racial and trait crafting materials for that matter, as long as it doesnt cost upgrade materials.

Implementation wise i would think this will be a lesser effort for them to inplement compared to a barter vendor ( for which they have nothing likewise yet).

I'm pretty gutted about this too.. Templar healer and spent my time online two nights ago making full Twilight and Willows sets after just hitting vr12. Most items are purple with a few upped to legendary. I didn't buy the yellow tempers and have used all of the ones I've collected since early access (15) after deciding on my build.

Currently sitting on 7k gold and now both sets are useless. I get that nerfs and buffs need to happen to balance the game but alter the bonus by a few percent or change the spell crit bonus to max magicka or spell power - something magicka based. Don't just add stam and health bonuses to sets that 90% of magicka users are wearing.

I think most are fine with changes, and that they are needed.

But you cant just change 2 sets that most magicka users are using, and change them into something completly different that makes them useless for most magicka users.

Has it been said this wont effect existing sets? Surely the change will just update existing crafted sets? Or is it because you now want to change?

I don't know of anyone who asked for set bonuses to be made entirely different for the types of characters who would be wearing those set pieces currently with no form of reimbursement.

"Better set bonuses?" Yeah, I've heard people asking for that. But that's not anywhere near the same.

so delusional to say that everyone requested this, such bs. where the hell do u get your info from? The main change players have been asking for is for stam builds to get some buffs which I personally agree with but breaking current sets is not the answer and not requested by everyone. if that were true then no one would be raging about this problem.

All you want is high crit. The only complaining I've been reading is from people whining about losing some crit percentage and how their gear is now trash.

In my opinion Willows and Twilight is now better with much more defined roles. The highlight of willows is currently adding 20% regeneration in daytime. That was supposed to be it's key feature I believe since that was unique to the set.

With 1.3.0 It would add much more regeneration. This set may become a must have for a player trying to go for a regeneration build.

As for Twilight's, that set was alone in giving you better healing. Even though crit was the 5piece, it was unique in that is gave you extra healing.

With 1.3.0 It will be focused even more on giving better healing.

I see your point of how the gear is now useless to your playstlye since all you were doing apparently was stacking spell crit, but think about this: 1. you have plenty of time to prepare for the changes and 2., the game is moving toward balance so expect to adapt.

Edit: The hit to spell crit isn't that bad anyway. Once again, you have time to get more gold and you have a chance to get your mats back through deconstruction.

[snip]. Most people are fine with changes, but they should add new sets, not change existing sets to become totally crap.

Noone was asking for changes to already existing sets.

You buy a ferrari, then they take it away and give you a bicycle without refund and tell you to adapt.

How should players go about to gather 300k gold + resources they already gathered while leveling and now wasted without having to grind their eyes out?

You/they are doing it wrong. You got scammed hard by whoever sold you the mats.

    Edit: ;)

If you do simple math, I stated I made 11 pieces. 7 pieces of armor, 2 Staves for my caster build and 2 swords for my tanking build because I was going to reuse 2 of the cloth pieces for my tanking set for bonuses.

Each piece of gear uses about 13 units of refined material, @ 5g/unit = 65g
    Your trait stone, @25g/unit (infused/divines) = 25g
Your motif material, avg 100g if you are using a hard to find one = 100g
    From Normal to Fine uses 2 greens @ 25g ea = 50g
    From Fine to Superior uses 3 blues @ 100g ea = 300g
    From Superior to Epic uses 4 purples @ 500g ea = 2000g
    From Epic to Legendary uses 8 yellows @ 2500g ea = 20000g
    Legendary Glyph = 5000g

Total for one piece = 27,540 if you do it yourself, this doesnt include cost for someone to craft it for you.

So 11 pieces is 302,940g at estimated prices and you will not always get materials at the same price and vary.

I see a black future for eso if this goes live like it is. This is a reason i really consider giving up on this game. I loved it so far. Even with its flaws. But this, no thanks. I will not support something like that if theres no compensation.

Also at vet12, nothing to do questwise. So no money. Unless you craft and sell. Farm and sell.
