Boss loot timer

Since complaining got the timer added, I would like to go on record complaining about this boss timer update. It is too long and impedes the normal player that likes to loot these bosses. I killed the boss, oh look no blue, still killing the boss because I get no drop except 5 coins now...now I have to wait 5m each time I want to attempt to get the blue? Don't let complainers ruin this game style. I'm sure you already lost enough subs without adding the genuine players that like to farm to that list.

I posted a bug about this, but I haven't noticed this in most dungeons. I didn't really check in everything I come across, but bosses seem to drop stuff just as often. Maybe not the top thing they drop, but always something no matter how long. Are most people getting a delay now?

This nerf was a total fail. I liked the option to kill the boss 10 times to get the blue item I wanted. Also the dungeons are still full with bots, so nothing changed for the better.

Because 5m is nothing to a bot, but everything to a human.

Yeah. People can set a simple macro on a keyboard, turn it on, and walk away.

All this really does is extend the afk time between times the botter has to go to town.

So we should give in to your complaining because you are not going to have as good of a chance to get a blue? There are already too many blues for sale that they are already starting to devalue, and that still just for the crappy low level ***. minutes is not bad at all. By all means go for the blue. but don't start complain just becasue they took away your exploit

I'm not sure how much this punishes exploiters.
It punishes legitimate players with limited playtime; however, it does not really make things any more difficult for a bot (which has all the time in the world) to get these drops.

The giving into my complain was a joke about how they added it in in the first place. Too many blues? Just because other people try to sell their blues doesn't mean that I do and that I should be punished to attempt to stop bots. "By all means go for the blue" I get blues faster from farming the regular mobs around the boss than from the boss now. So doing dungeons is now pointless because you won't get that unique item. You want to spend an hour killing the boss to get that blue? Clearly you don't understand the issue here and can only think of your economy. Think of it this way, how many public dungeon blues have you seen being sold? I have yet to see one. People don't sell them because they use them for other things and no one will buy them. This "fix" does nothing about the available blues except maybe increases it because bots might just start farming regular mobs that drop blues that can be sold easier.

And here I spent 20 minutes trying to get 1 hit on the boss before it got instagibbed by the bots surrounding it just to have a chance to complete the instance (get achievement) let alone get any items...and still nothing....as soon as I gave up somehow I got the achievement once i left the damn place...

Hate to tell you this, but it isn't hard to get credit for the boss kill. I've only had 1 dungeon be an issue. You just need to be in the right place and use the right ability when it spawns. Usually I get credit 4 of 5 times and it isn't my lvl because I do all the dungeons first when I enter a new zone. If you use the correct ability, you won't have a problem. I believe it can be an issue if you are trying to mage it, but the simple fix is to go dual wield and put 1 point into the second ability and just spam that. If you keep the other 4 spots with spells, you will have most of the XP go into magic. I understand if you don't want to do dual wield, but you would only be using 1 skill point to get credit for the boss kill 4 of 5 times.

There are a ton of different abilities in the game that do instant dmg and will easily get you credit. You don't have to go dual wield.

in veteran dungeons its like a 10 minute wait for a boss respawn and there are no bots to speak of. If you are camping the boss for the easy 1 shot kill in hopes of getting a blue you can sell, I dont feel sorry for you. If you are camping a boss for an easy 1 shot kill for a blue you can use, I still dont feel sorry for you.

Tried to run the dungeons in the VR 1 zone for the first time today.
No one else in the dungeon at all.
Unfortunately I can't solo the boss, so no loot for me anyway.
Good job, whiney snots, on getting this nerfed instead of learning how to compete.

And if you are camping the boss not caring if it is a 1 hit kill or a prolonged solo fight for a blue you can use/want? This isn't about the 1 hit kills, this is about no loot from finishing a dungeon. I don't want to complete a dungeon and then solo the boss and still not get the blue item.

It's not complainers that ruined your gamestyle, it's the design of the dungeons in the first place. Your gamestyle (like most players) is to have the choice on how you spend your time, including farming a dungeon boss. Traditionally this isn't a problem when the dungeon is your own private instance... you may have to run out and reset it, but still the option is yours. As such, this super-awesome public dungeon system necessarily means players are penalized for a very poor design choice.

@PVT_Parts, the issue is you are upset that people who have been just staying in public dungeons to farm mats and gear legitimately, have now lost their favorite spot to farm. the fact is bosses are not meant to be farmed in this manner, and since we were allowed to do so, it has impacted the economy ( I brought up Blues because that was the example you used)

@Samadhi The bots will go find more efficient means of farming now, it the way of things, Zos will make a fix and they will move on and the cycle continues. This one was not meant to stop exploiting, but technically standing in front of a bosses spawn point to farm is considered an exploit. And yes this will effect those with limited play time, but at the same time it help the economy giving more value to some of these blues that are going for 500 gold. Right now people who have reached end game are reporting that they have so much gold they don't know what to do with it.

Had a post myself on this same topic. All this game mechanic has done is alienate players more. Botters wont get affected, they'll just adjust their programs and carry on as before. This wasn't the answer to bots, Its just hurting legitimate players.

The blue drop should occur 100% the first time, and never again from that boss for that character.

Maybe I have a strange view of the delves, but in my opinion, a delve is like a mini dungeon you run with a buddy (or group). Enjoy the experience, get your sky shard, kill your boss, get your achievement, and move on. There are so many blue items all over the game, farming the boss of some level 30 delve (or even killing him more than once or twice) seems pointless to me when there is so much else to do and see.

It was clearly being exploited because it was too easy/effective, so hopefully the bot folks will now go elsewhere. I know it doesn't solve the problems that bots exist, but now I might actually be able to hit the end bosses!

so Zenimax wants to act like Blizz and tell people how they can farm item when and where and for how long this did not work for diablo 3 in fact it killed the game. if i see more changes like this that tell me how i have to farm my loots i will find a new game its that simple no one wants to be told how they have to play the game. these farm issues are not issue in the vet zones yet. i kill there 2-4 times for a few spare soul gems i could care less about rare blue loots. but a timer telling me i cant get another soul stone is a bad joke. whats next will we have to kill 5 packs of rare rare mobs to get a buff to be able to get any loot at all from any boss. fixing the boting issue is the only way fix these farming issue's most the legit farmers only stick around for a short while before moving on to something else in the game.

A lot of bots have already moved above ground. In Stonefalls last night, near the ghost battlefield, I saw seven bots running laps and killing things. Bots will always find some more efficient manner to get loot.

What they should've done is tie the blue drop to the achievement and removed the soul gem drop rate (which is the majority of the reason for bot farming so they can vendor them for gold) then upped the drop rate of soul gems in the open world a little bit.

And if you already did the achievement, they can make it non retroactive so you can either keep your current achievement or go back and get the one that overwrites the new one and get the blue drop.

That way you can still get soul gems regularly and get your boss drop and not have to sit there farming for it. As for the whole farming for mats, you can farm them else where there are plenty of places to farm them efficiently.

The whole timer seems to be bugged because some mobs still give nothing and others give drops every single time.

I agree with this. Having to compete with 50 bots was FAR preferable to getting there when the boss is dead and having to wait upwards of 10 minutes for him to spawn. I don't even want to farm him, I just want dungeon completion. It has taken 5-10 minutes on several occasions now and it's just annoying.

So I just hit a delve and killed the boss and I got a soul gem and five potions. The next 5 times I killed him I got 2 gold. I waited about 5 minutes killing other mobs in the delve and got another soul gem and potions. So I'm glad you're trying to do something about bots, but what you've done is killed a valid farming technique for players. You tell us crafting is going to be the best gear in the game. Well how is it going to be that way when we can't get enough blues to craft one suit of armor? Even at max temper proficiency that is 21 tempers. At a 60% extraction rate that is 34 blue items. THIRTY FOUR. So...now blue items are going to be insanely expensive. You guys have not thought this though.

This WILL effect bots. The gold sellers that create these bots don't care one lick about blue gear or any gear. Their bags fill up rapidly and they could care less. They just keep on farming the boss because what they DO care about are things that STACK. Like gold and Soul Gems. (Which sell for tons of gold)

So now consider this. They were getting a soul gem and a chunk of gold every 20 seconds in busy dungeons because the boss spawns when a new player gets close. So in a busy dungeon, the boss spawns non stop.

Now consider getting a Soul Gem and a chunk of gold every 5 mins. It is a HUGE cut in profits for them. They will move on to some other mob to farm. Probobly just farm the entire dungeon on a loop instead. Like I said, it's stackable items they want, and a 5 min wait will be unacceptable for them. It doesn't cure the bot problem, but it does hit them where it hurts.

Killing a boss 10 times to get a drop is no better than bot farmers. Kill it a few times and move on. If you didn't get what you wanted, so what? Maybe you weren't meant to. It's not a race. Enjoy the game and the random joy that comes when you do get a drop. Farming for drops is what bots do. How is that any different?
