Some people are just laughable .. *** about bugs and when they are fixing them *** about them getting fixed, ZOS simply can't win.

I played in the BETA and believe me it wasn't that great, what they released was a far better version and worthy of a release. What people need to understand is that Bugs happen no matter what, it would be absolutely impossible to release something without bugs in it, if people disagree then please introduce me to the developers who always get it right...

I played in the BETA, too, and I agree that much of the game has considerably improved since the BETA. That said, while the released version of the game may be worthy of release, this is not a game that can be played offline on your computer at home, so the question is one of not just "is the game good enough as it stands" but also a question of "can reasonably continuous and reliable service be provided".
While the answer to the first question is close to yes or even a straight yes - some bugs are indeed unavoidable, and the level of bugs I experienced as yet is sufficiently low that I can live with them - the answer to the second is at least as clearly a resounding no. The service is down much too often to be acceptable: if your water company took your water supply offline at least twice a week for 'scheduled' regular maintenance for a handful of of hours each (and not giving you a time when service will resume on top of that), and have another few 'emergency maintenance' or 'short-notice semi-scheduled maintenance' downtimes for a few hours each on top of that, that would clearly be unacceptable service levels. Very much the same applies for the service ZOS is currently providing its customers with: it is not reasonably continuous and reliable service, but rather a service with random and mostly unexpected and unplanned outages.
The relevant question is not whether developers always get it right, the relevant question is whether ZOS is providing the service we are paying it for. I don't pay them for maintenance, I pay them for them providing me with a game when I want to play it, much like I pay my water company for providing me with water when I want to have water. How they ensure that I get that service (at least most of the time) at my convenience is their problem. And they need to sort this problem quickly, since otherwise the numbers of customers they have will quickly drop off to levels where the game no longer is sustainable financially - and I'd rather have the game financially sustainable and working than not.
The brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all...

Don't really care about all the maintenance, as it's quite clear that the game has been suffering from a lot of bugs (as expected). Also glad that they seem keen to fix all the bugs.

The only thing I'm complaining about is the EU megaserver is located in the US. Laaaaaaaaaag :/ I live in Ireland, so my ping towards the typical US server is 150-200 which is not bad when this is "only" an MMO, but I can still clearly see I have a high MS/Ping. It also makes blocking/dodging a nuisance from time to time, due to the delay. But imagine people in eastern europe or just people that has ISPs with major routing issues. The game will feel like ***, and I could see them loosing a lot of subscribers because of this.

    Zenimax: Get EU Servers please!

I hope those complaining here about down time will stop to consider that the people behind whatever fixes are being implemented likely worked through the entire weekend to get it all ready to go on Monday. These guys are giving up their holiday time that would otherwise be spent with their families so you can *play a game*.

Much as I'd love to believe your altruistic view of the world, they are actually giving up their time for money and because their contract of employment dictates it. To a greater or lesser degree most of us do this, unless we are born into riches, ZOS employees are not a special case.

So. The question now is: How do future beta tests and future games test for spam resilience before going live? That seems like a tough nut to crack.

No we complain that they not texted the game in beta ( or they push the game out too early to start gain) and that they take down server in HOLYDAY when peoples can play .

I'm sure the people doing the server maint would have loved to have been playing a video game on that "Holiday" too, but they were busy working at the time.

I normally side with Zenimax on this but maintenance on a holiday... TWICE? I mean... yes the bug fixing is important and the tuesday maintenance is perfect but mondays and fridays should never be touched because many people take those days off of work and defending our aussies cousin, fridays are their prime time.

But most importantly, DO NOT push a patch on a holiday for the love of God...

I didn't suggest they're doing it out of their own good will. Whether it's in a contract or not, part of the job or not, overtime or not, working though a holiday weekend is still taking time away from families. It's not as if they're sitting around with their thumbs up their asses just to *** off the player base.

I'm only implying that a little gratitude and understanding among all of the bitching would be nice. At the end of the day, ESO is a game. None of us are going to fall over dead if we don't get to play for a few hours.

I was going to be less annoyed if they fixed School Daze today. But it's not even in the patch notes. I cried a little.
Everyone cries and moans like *** about bugs... they take the servers down at a reasonable time to fix them, not "prime time" like I keep seeing people say (Since when has 5AM monday morning been a prime time?) and people still moan and cry like ***, those moaning need to get a grip its a game not a way of life...

It's not 5am here - its 9am, on a holiday. And in Australia, it's the evening - that is prime time for them. And no they can't play on EU, the latency is too great, so NA is their server too.

I don't have a ton of extra time to play this game. I have a lot going on- but I love(d) Elder Scrolls and Bethesda so much I pushed aside my usual hate of RPGs and MMOs to play.

I am constantly made fun of in the game for not understanding what is going on despite reading endless sites and trying to prepare. I rarely ever ask for help, I just grind along and keep to myself.

All of that is difficult in itself but add in the fact that I can't finish half of the quests and I keep getting stuck inside floors and stairs- plus the lag often makes it so that I can't slash, block or shoot before dying... and I'm almost to the end of my rope.

We have all paid a lot of money for this game. A lot of us Beta tested it and paid extra to join in early.. and for those of us who have jobs, family and other hobbies.. have only been able to play for approximately 20 hours since the release... it is slowly not worth all the hassle and money.

The maintenance started early last night and I was surprised to see it still offline this morning. Very frustrating. Am happy they attempt to fix these things.. but how many times do they have to pull things down? Why wasn't this ready when we complained about it in Beta?

I was so excited for this game. However, I am almost ready to start many articles, blogs and social media posts warning the Console players to stay clear of this game.

I'm guessing most of the complainers about this downtime aren't currently stuck on a quest that was listed in the patch notes as being fixed with this patch or had load screen issues that are supposedly being fixed. Thanks for being vigilant, ZOS. I look forward to being able to move forward once this patch is downloaded and the servers are back up!

Any new MMO will have bugs like this. WoW is still fending off Gold Sellers & bugs. You can create articles for days, but fact of the matter remains, bugs come and go, and sometimes come back even worse.

That's true, I am sure- since you have played more you would know much better that I would, but Elder Scrolls (and Bethesda.. good Lord, New Vegas was awful with game slaughtering bugs) is rather notorious for releasing too early. I had higher hopes for this game, and I was wrong.

Isn't today's maintenance replacing tomorrows regularly scheduled maintenance? That's what I heard. But if so, then it is the scheduled maintenance, just done on a different day.

I love how people are complaining "The game is broken...fix it NOW!" Then when they take the servers down to fix it they yell "Wait! Fix it later..." Yes I want to play too but honestly giving up 4 or 5 hours of play time to have a more stable game is a fair trade imho.
