Error 301: Unable to Connect / Error 209: Patching Manifest Error

Hi, Service Status says that server is up and maintenance is complete but I still can't connect. Every time I try I get Error 301, saying Unable to connect to the server, try again or contact support if problem persists. But some times I get the message saying Login Request Timed Out.

Also when I opened the client, I didn't get any update either.

    There are two issues, both involve the launcher
    - this is the first issue preventing people from patching to the newest game version (leading to timeouts and error 301's)
    - the second issue is for people who managed to patch but can't launch the game via the launcher because of error 209's (but are able to click the .exe file in their directories and are able to play that way - this workaround wont work with the first issue though, because you/we have an out of date game version).

    I had 209, resolved it, now I'm in 301... is there a solution to this already posted in one of the other 15 threads? This is only one I saw with 301 in title.

    Getting the timeout error here as well. Tried starting from the app instead of the launcher and still no luck.

    Closing and reopening the launcher fixed it for me, for some reason it didn't patch the first time but after closing the launcher and reopening it again it patched and I was able to connect and play so guys try that, see you in Tameriel.

    OK following this it does give me option to repair after restart, and actually does the repair check once I click it. Verifying files now looks like about a 2-3 minute verification process.

    Yep exact same thing ...if you haven't patched then close launcher and open it keep doing that until it finally patches that will cure the 301.

    after closing and opening launcher multiple times I finally got the update, but now I am getting Error 209: Patching Manifest Error: Unable to determine game version and is asking me to run Game Consultant Option under Settings > About.

    I ran it but it made no difference, still getting Error209.

    Just got a pushed update from the launcher, took a few minutes to get everything updated but still facing Login Timeout error.

    Well the Game Consultant is not fixing anything. Now when I restart my launcher it comes with a repair button, rather than play button and when I press repair, I immediately get the Error 209: Patching Manifest Error........... its not even looking online for any updates.

    I'm past 209 again now after starting hotfix all over again, was getting the login time out again, and just got 103 account not authorized in stead of 301.. did servers go down?

    After multiple restarts, launcher is finally doing something. It started to verify my whole game. Its still going on. I will post an update with the result when its finished.

    Well the repair didn't work, now its telling me that it was unable to unzip the manifest and asked me run repair again.

    Also how do you update your Game Consultant Version anyone knows?

    P.S. Also there are various posts floating around about deleting one file or the other, I tried all of that but it didn't work for me. Every time I deleted the file the launcher started to download the whole game all over again, so I restored all of them. Just a word of caution here.

    I had this issue too. First the 209 error, ended up reinstalling the entire game (took a few hours). Then had the 301 error.

    I tried to close then reopen. First time I Alt+F4 out of the game, closed the launcher, no luck. Second time I clicked the "Quit" button, and the launcher started downloading a patch before I could close it (took 5 seconds or so), clicked play instead of closing launcher, worked.

    Multiple (perhaps 10?) restarts of the launcher did nothing to help my 301s.

    What did work: Switching launcher settings to the EU server, after which that client patched. Then switching back to NA, after which that client patched, gave me a 209 and told me "manifest" blah blah and "consutant" blah blah but after which I was able to log in.

    This seems to indicate that it was allowing me to attempt to log into the NA server w/o patching, even after several launcher restarts.... which is something Z will need to address. btw, Z, weird graphical glitches during the NA patch, progress observed to reach a point somewhere between 200% & 300%.

    Best of luck to all those still struggling.

    Restarting the launcher a couple times resolved the issue for me as well. After changing to the EU server and then back again and then closing and re-opening and then starting again... Whew.. good luck

    If it's faulty hardware, changing to the EU then back to the NA might force it to seek some different hardware eventually - it hasn't worked for me in two or three attempts but I might give it a few more tries.

    Just an FYI on what worked for me.

    When I started launcher it said "initializing" but gave me the play button. However, trying to login failed with 301.

    I restarted the launcher about half a dozen times with the same result, and then it finally started the patching process on restart 7 or 8 or so.

    After patching I got the 209 error. It instructed me to run the game consultant, which I did and it seemed to be useless. Just told me my game was up to date.

    I then hit "repair" on launcher again, at which point the launcher seemed to freeze. I restarted the patcher again then was able to start the Repair process.

    The repair took about 5 minutes after which I was able to login and play. So lots of clicking around, but stick with and it'll work.

    What the H377 did they *** up this time?

    They seem pretty darned hot to run off as many customers as they can as fast as they can... I guess to deny the gold spammers a market, suck up all of Bethsoft's money and kill the game before the company finds out they shammed it just to snag money and drive the customers away.

    I right clicked the TESO icon on my desktop an chose to run it as administrator and that fixed the problem for me and it started downloading the patch.

    So, after trying to find a fix for hours (even completely uninstalling the game and re-installing it) I had no luck. I tried everything, but apparently after my re-installation followed by entering and exiting the launcher a few times it magically decided to work again, patched itself up and allowed me to log in. Yay, Tamriel!

    Hopefully this works for you.

    From the launcher, Setting button (top right, looks like a gear) and under Options change your Megaserver from North America to Europe, then Apply.

    I assume this is only a quick and easy fix if you've already also downloaded the EU client (I've no idea why a second client is necessary, but apparently Zenimax determined it was).

    All right Zenifail... I have run the repair, that broke the 'version' identity so it wants me to run the consultant. That spits out a text file half a mile long but doesn't fix anything. It says a new version of the consultant is available but doesn't install it.
    Nor will it repair my install because it can't tell what version it's running so... I cannot play the game.

    Until you patch this failure you best be suspending my time loss or refunding the days I can't play until you get this crap fixed.

    I'm dealing with the same problem here, too. Error 301 messages and login timeout messages. Here's my game consultant report.
