...The thing is some people don't just have $15 readily available in their accounts even though they will when it gets close to the time for us to be billed for our subs.

Hi, can it be that I get error "The transaction was not authorized... " for choosing Subscription Plan because I don`t have enough money on my card?

I don't mind setting up payment method now, my issue is that it looks like I don't have a way to do so...

This is exactly my problem, I just spent a whopping $120 for two copies of this game, with the expected 30 days of free game time, in spending that $120, I no longer have the funds available to me for an extra $15x2 to "verify" that I have an active account, which btw.. I have had for many years. This is a HUGE screw-up on their part, and has made this whole game seem like crap to me atm since the customer support isn't able to do anything about it.

It's one thing to "verify" by charging $1 to the account which is what almost any other verification process I've been through does, but no, they require the full amount? Total B.S.

In today's world these companies need to do it this way because some people have a stop so they don't overdraft. Where a dollar would go thru and the 15 won't.
But if all they're doing is "verifying" that the account is active and valid, the $1 would be just as effective to see if that card/account is truly available.

I'm having the exact same problems as everyone else. The problems are as follows:

    1. Can't log in. Tells me my login is invalid.

What's wrong here? That's not the problem. The problem is that I haven't set up a payment plan. This doesn't make sense because I already paid for 30 days access, and that access is NOT contingent on buying more access later.

To be absolutely clear: I'm not saying anybody is forcing me to pay for my free 30 days, but they are requiring me to buy additional time just to get access to my 30 days. Everybody is shooting down complaints saying "dude, it's still 30 free days" but that's not the point. (Also, bank authorization issues vary -- please stop assuming that because your USA-based CC does authorizations without knocking on your balance doesn't mean Dieter in Germany has his debit card from a credit union do the exact same thing.)

    2. Can't set up a payment plan. The account page has no option for this.

What's wrong here? Catastrophic epic mega-fail on release day. And are you looking for your physical copy, so that you can at least play with the physical box while you wait for the problems to get fixed? Good luck. Most haven't even shipped yet!! (That's the point of early access -- to get everybody who preorders onto the game seamlessly, without a gap in their gameplay, before their physical box arrives.)

    3. I missed the early access window too.

I was never informed when the release day was until the day before, which means I was lucky enough -- and not obsessed with scouring the internet for TES Online news -- that I had no idea it started March 30. I got a few hours of gameplay in yesterday before waking up today and being shut-out.

You need to inform your customers of what's happening. If we are obligated to purchase a subscription to get access to our 30 free days, you need to say so. You didn't. If early access starts March 30, you need to email early-access-holders like me sometime before March 30 to tell us. This is a pay-to-play game that still costs an arm (plus a leg for the Imperial Edition). I'm a casual gamer because I'm a grown up and I have a job and family to worry about. I will be paying $0.50 - $1.00 per hour to play this game based on the rates I'm seeing. But my $100+ for the privilege of having the game at all was supposed to get me 35 days. So far, I got 1/5 in the early access period and now day 1 of the next 30 isn't looking good either, especially since I've been asked to commit to a payment plan just to get access to those 30 days -- assuming I can even get the website to take my CC info (so far, no dice).

This is an absolute f***king disaster, worse than D3's launch, and it's an embarrassment to this franchise and does nothing but make TES Online look like more and more of a cash-grab.

I'd like to take a moment to apologize for assuming that people were overlooking the option to get their payment plans set up. At first it seemed like only a small number of people were having this issue; it wasn't until after I posted this thread that I realized numerous people weren't just overlooking the option, they weren't getting it PERIOD.

I also want to give my apologies to people who don't have the funds necessary to allow the authorization hold. Please understand by no means was I saying this was the way to go or that this was the best method of doing things; clearly it wasn't, if the missing payment method feature and queue to log into Account pages is any indication. I was just trying to let people who were worried about technically "paying" for the 30 days know they weren't actually paying for it, but that ZOS had set up a validation thing, which a lot of companies do.

Yes, ZOS clearly should have told us a long time ago that it would be required for us to validate our accounts BEFORE we were able to access our 30 days. They also should have made people aware that there was a chance of authorization holds. I'm not trying to white-knight and say they did no wrong here. I was just trying to assist people in understanding WHAT was happening and WHY.

That being said, I really do hope everyone having issues with this gets it resolved sooner rather than later. We paid for this game anywhere from a few days to several months ago; ZOS could have simply let us sign up for the payment option when we purchased the game, but for some reason decided that wasn't the way to go. Perhaps because they couldn't validate this information from third-party vendors? Though I wonder if they could have required a payment selection upon third-party codes being entered into the Account page.

    @Arunei:

You may want to go back and edit your original post a bit in regards to the instructions to set up the subscription. In my experience (I have set up my subscription properly and am able to play the game), the account page does not display any kind of prompt or link to directly set up a subscription.

What you do is this: On your account page, you will need to click the 'Redeem Code' link. There you need to enter your Retail code for your game. This is NOT the same as your Beta or Early Access code. It's a separate code that you should have received from your retailer with your copy of the game. (Or via e-mail, website or some form of communication on or around 4.4.14 when the game officially went 'live.')

Upon entering the Retail code, you will be presented with choices for a subscription format (30-day, 90-day, 180-day and so forth) and go through the process of setting up your subscription.

This is the only method of accessing the subscription setup that I'm aware of, though I suppose it's possible that there may be some other way. It's all initiated by entering your Retail game code.

In conclusion If you really want to make the game capture your target...
    Get your *** together !

I assume their target is the Elder Scrolls fan base plus any newcomers they could capture. Everything you complained about happens to be what Elder Scrolls fans enjoy. I think you need a trip to the pharmacy. Good luck with that.

Exactly, Zenimax is catering to the TES crowd...not the MMO crowd.

@Arunei‌ I do appreciate people taking the initiative to let people know what's going on, since the admin team seems to have much bigger fish to fry than letting ppl know exactly what's going on. A small little post in the pop-up that we've all taken for granted since the game was first introduced in beta, to me wasn't much of a post.. lol I know you got a lot of negative comments (not particularly towards you, but in the topic at hand.

Being one of those that can't currently afford the "verification" process I'm pretty bummed at the situation, and quite irritated at how Zenimax is pushing the issue. But in the end, thank YOU (Arunei) and others who have contributed in informing the masses what's going on.

I'll try to speak over everyone yelling on here. I wanted to share my experience today trying to log in to ESO. When trying to log in i was prompted with "account information invalid" like most people experienced. I logged in to my elderscrollsonline.com account yet found no option or tab to subscribe. My purchase history showed only 1 item which was my imperial edition 5 day early access and a product key. I was very frustrated therefore more than happy to throw my anger in the ring with everyone else on this forum. Even more frustrating was looking for an answer to my problem and only finding angry posts about 30 free days from people who didn't agree with paying. So after 2-3 hours I have discovered and fixed my problem and i hope it helps.
I purchased my imperial edition digitally from gamestop not knowing a digital purchase is redeemed through a gamestop desktop app that must be downloaded. This app is for windows and not mac compatible. I emailed gamestop and they sent me the product key and a link to set up an account through the ESO.com. This all worked smoothly until today when i was locked out of game. The reason there was no subscription prompt/tab is because i registered my early access code, not the game key. I pulled my old pc out of closet, booted it up and dl the gamestop app. logging in i found 3 purchases in the "My Games" tab. 1 was my ESO game key and the other was my dlc pack i never received. I pulled up my laptop, entered the keys in the redeem code tab and was prompted with a subscription plan. That was my adventure in figuring out what my problem was and am red faced to say Sorry Zenimax, the problem was completely on my end and not one bit on yours. Hope this helps at least one person who might be experiencing the problem i did.

They fell short on numerous issues. Solo dungeons, problems with stealth and archery mechanics, and the format of the subscription service all changed from what it was intended at (or even long before) preorders started until now -- and all of it seems to deviate from TES of the past. It looks more and more to me like a rush job to meet a deadline and rake in as much cash as possible for Zenimax shareholders. Remember back when developers and studios weren't plugged into hedge funds, shareholders, and all that cash-grabbing garbage? Games hit the shelves and they were made properly, as intended? I do.
