    1. the terrible combat changes they made some years ago, i think over the course of a year. Adding cast times to ults, messing with animations/animation canceling. I mean i would put this as all 3 tbh. This destroyed combat at the highest level, and made us all dumb down how we play.

    2. update 35 for obvious reasons. It destroyed the community for no reason other than zenimax hubris. They refuse to admit they are wrong or backtrack. And the community has never been the same since. And it made things worse in pve but even more so in pvp, especially with the dot changes.

    3. One tamriel. the beginning of the end of old eso. The first step of zenimax moving us away from what started as an mmorpg that came from the era of mmos that wow created, and turned into skyrim online.

Eso was different enough to succeed but still had many things that made it a classic mmo. The holy trinity, a big focus on pvp, dungeons, raids, zones you couldn't enter without being the appropriate level (at least without dying alot), a big focus on class identity, a community that actually cared and players that put in time and effort to make things better for the community, now replaced by a revolving door of casuals. Many of these things are gone now, and some remain. And maybe sub classes should be on this list, but the death of class identity started with the hybridization of everything. Zenimax seems to have been in an identity crisis for years. Split between actual mmorpg players and the super casual, skyrim online, players that come to quest through an update and leave. Unfortunately this is an mmorpg, even if zos has lost sight of that.

I don't particularly want to defend Zenimax, but it must be admitted that this system has—largely contributed—to making ESO an extremely profitable game that's unlikely to die tomorrow.

A profitable game is also a game where, logically, developers should listen to the players who are customers.

Players like housing, so they sell houses.
Players like flashy mounts? Flashy mounts then.
Players like winning everything with the least effort? The Arcanist was created.
Don't the players want to repeat the successes they've already achieved? AwA then.
    Etc. etc. etc.

You know, we get what we deserve.

    1. 2.0/One Tamriel other than lifting alot of the alliance restrictions there was a lot of bad balancing with that patch and PVP has been down hill since then probably the 2 or 3 worst thing for the pvp side of the game the game might have gained stuff but in lost a lot more.
    2. Sorcerer Ultimate Overload getting rid of the 3rd bar
    3. Rushing Agony and the current state of pvp is garbage its a shame to see pvp in its current state while the rest of the game is thriving and doing well.

Am I the only one who thinks AwA was actually good I like just being able to hop on whatever character without have to redo some achievements on my main.

    1. AwA (top complaint by a long way)

    2. Templar jab shovel
    3. Their persistence at having invulnerability phases for bosses

    1) I think weaving was the worst decision they ever made. Tained the whole combat system and limited the games population since everything was balanced with that in mind.

    2) groupfinder the second worst. Like it or not the groupfinder excels at churning out bad experiences for players, mostly due to more experienced players using it for exp rewards and point 1.

    3) not evolving the dungeons. Same dungeon design for pretty much forever. Dps and dance moves mechanics. Pretty weak.

    1. Integrating weaving instead of fixing the bug that it was.
    2. Designing, and implementing problems such as bag space, then selling solutions such as the craft bag with ESO+.
    3. Sub-classing. <

    1. Level scaling that came with one tamriel that ultimately (IMO) negated any sense of exploration, achievement, and satisfaction in overland content, which is a vast majority of the experience of this game

I agree. This set the tone for the game to become a casual/cosmetics/housing game.

Interesting to see that so many people hate AWA. I liked it BECAUSE I was only playing my main to have all my achievements in one place instead of playing my alts. After it came out I finally felt like I could play alts to progress my account instead of always insisting I do things on my main even if it wasn't the best class I could bring for the content my group wanted.

    My top 3:
    1. The hybridization update. As a spellcaster (mainly) I didn't want to use daggers... I had to re-farm most of my sets because groups insisted on it.

    2. Antiquities. These went from an interesting side activity to a grueling grind every time a new batch came out. Days spent picking flowers in Shadowfen, running the same dungeon 40 times, and that stupid Sunspire drop which broke me. I had all of the antiquities at one point but having to run Sunspire long after I had already collected every set piece in normal and vet and then not getting it after 40+ hours of trial runs just made me give up. I haven't chased an antiquity since.

    3. I can't name the source of this, but whatever happened to the economy in the last year or so. It started with the chromium change update which shouldn't have impacted much since the total number of platings did not change but everything else just crashed. For years I advised people to stockpile money in style pages and materials rather than gold, and followed that same advice myself. It worked for so long but now it's a complete disaster. Things hardly feel worth listing on the trader as they are so cheap and my entire understanding of making money went out the window.

I agree with you partly on AWA, except that over many years I tried to do achievements on my main character exclusively. My goal is to get most of them still on my main. Now I am freed up so I can let better characters get some achieves for trials and PvP, but there are many achievements that can accidentally be triggered by other characters. For example, I have been getting the Commemorative achieves on my main, but I am lacking the Conquering Hero one for BGs. I will either trip that with a PvP character or try to get the last win on a PvE toon (I hope the team will forgive me, lol). I think it might grant a greater achievement to the PvP toon instead of my main if I let her do it, and that would not be ideal.

Sometimes you just want the appropriate character to get the credit.

Update 35. This patch made my whole core trial + dungeon group quit the game. They still haven't returned.
