Increasing Furnishing Cap to 1,200

Title sums it up.

With Manor homes offering an outdoor and indoor space, it doesn't make sense why the cap is only at 700, especially with how many more furnishings are available after 10 years now.
And Even if you want to section off only a piece of the home to use, well that too requires furnishings.

As it stands now, a lot of the player homes have huge areas of dead empty space.
It's tacky, it's bad, and it gives off an overall bad feel to the game.

If you're going to offer these large spacious homes (for real money, mind you), then let us fill them up!

pretty sure theres been several posts about this before, but the answer they gave us is likely wont happen for the forseeable future

most of it is due to old consoles/low spec PCs holding the game back because they are required to keep min operating specs low enough to support previous gen consoles and low spec borderline potato PCs

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Even if they can't just directly increase the max furnishing limit due to various engine / performance / technical limitations right now, there are numerous ways that this problem could be mitigated to an extent.

    - Sell us more medium sized houses that can reasonably be decorated without blocking off half the house
    - Increase the furnishing limit in smaller houses that are currently under the max (700) limit
    - Give us a variety of new furnishings (perhaps via the lux vendor) with combinations of individual items - like a table already set with food... shelves stocked with items... multiple trees or plants together...
    - Give us much larger structural furnishings, and more premade buildings like the alinor greenhouse... so we can build things using fewer slots

Perhaps the current cap could also be "raised" to some extent by combining or adjusting the different categories of furnishings. For example, I'm never using all of the slots for collectable furnishings - if some could be reassigned to traditional or special, that would at least help.

Instead zos seems happy to insist that nothing can be done and call it a day. And then they keep selling giant houses and new furnishing packs and more houseguests to cram into extremely limited slots. They could do better.

    [Edit for typo].

Well since outside the home and inside the home are 2 separate instances, they should have their own furnishing cap, and it would have zero impact on processing.

I also find it hard to believe that furnishing cap would be an issue at lowest graphical settings.

Everyone wants it, zos cannot change it, and if they do change it it'll take an undetermined amount of years.

2 posts from ZOS that talk about it, February 2020 and May 2024 so you know this is still relevant as that's from this year.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/658726/follow-up-q-a-from-eso-10-year-celebration-event-community-roundtable/p1

Q: Will we ever get proper guild halls in ESO?
A: We love the idea of guild halls in ESO and recognize that our community has asked for them since the game launched. We have had many internal conversations about them over the years. The current challenge is the necessary caps. Much like the item limit caps in player housing, there is also a limit to how many characters can simultaneously be in a player home (it’s 25). As with items, these caps are in place to ensure that players on lower spec machines don’t encounter significant performance issues while in player homes.

When we’ve asked ourselves in the past if a 25-person cap would feel good for a guild hall, especially if it’s a guild of 500 active players, the answer has always been no. It’s not the kind of guild hall experience we’d want to give you. So, while the idea of guild halls isn’t completely off the table, it’s important to us that we find a solution that allows us to do it right, and support the ability to have more than 25 simultaneous players in the guild hall.

ZOS increased PC minimum software hardware requirements with update 41 to be pretty much equal to PS4 and XBOX 1.
i don't remember the last time they increased the requirements, but they dropped Windows 7 support with u41 and i believe that was part of the requirements since launch.

It could be pretty long until they increase requirements again, 5 years perhaps.

Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Designing more modestly sized notable homes would be a big step in the right direction. I have had more success with notables that have smaller interiors like Stone Eagle Aerie and Potentate’s Retreat. They look more filled than my Psijic Villa, which actually has more slots filled than those.

    Not sure this is correct.

I know personally I would be more inclined to buy Crown Store furnishings if I knew I would be able to decorate a house to look as full as I wished.

Not to mention I might even look at buying those huge Crown only houses too, unlikely but more likely than now, when I don't even bother viewing them!

So I see potential for more profit for ZoS not less!!

Gotta agree that, at least as relates to me, their failure to address the furnishing limits represents a loss of potential profit for them. I entirely stopped buying the big crown houses (used to get one per year with a gold for crowns trade) when I realized I always have to block off significant parts of the house to decorate it the way I'd like to.

While I've finished numerous smaller homes, my three big crown houses never seem to be complete, as I always run out of slots and have to tear things out and try to rework them.

I no longer wanna spend all that money if I can't even fully make use of the space.

In fact like Freespirit, I have not even *viewed* the new crown houses in the last two years.

...how tho? If they increase furnishing limits, people would actually buy the bigger houses more often because they could actually be furnished properly. People would also buy more furniture from the CS/buy Crown Crates to get furniture. They'd get more engagement in the game by more people doing other activities that give furniture.

No need for instances, just line of sight, then you are inside an location nothing outside is rendered, same with outside.
Few inside locations is instanced, main is all thief guild hideouts including the main one in Hew's bane.
    Some others like Orcinium palace.
Banks are not, if you get an loading screens entering an exiting an bank or other normal house like an fighter guild I say you have an hardware problem.

But I totally agree with you in dividing up player houses like cities overland solves most of the problems.
And the housing community tend to be wales, its called the true endgame for an reason 😺

Well, easy to agree with that.

There have been many suggestions to ZOS for different ways, along these lines, over the past 7.75 years since housing was introduced to make things better for us. Another is to allow us to redistribute how we want to spend the slots allocated to different categories of furnishings. They haven't done anything.

It's not that "they cannot do it". It doesn't violate any laws of the universe. They simply don't want to spend the "resources" to do it, namely money. They will spend resources to give us (on PC anyway) a watered down (and slightly more obnoxious) version of one part of an add-on that's been around for about 6 years. And call it a big deal. So we know where we stand.
