Please give Surveys and Maps their own symbols, rather than using the Recipe symbol

Right now the symbol for Surveys and Maps is the same one that is used for Recipes. It would be much easier to distinguish between these in our packs or storage if they each had their own specific symbol.
Please consider giving them specific symbols.

Not necessarily. For instance, many Quest Items reuse icons used elsewhere in the game, including items you can have in your inventory.PC/NA — Lone Werewolf, the EP Templar Khajiit Werewolf

Do you use any add on? It looks like you play on PC from your profile here on ESO forum, so I would assume that you also can make use of add on to both filter and search for Recipes, Treasure Maps or Surveys.
There are one add on that changes name for Surveys and Treasure Map to always start with "Survey" or "Treasure Map" and then location name which make it easier to see which is what and where.
Survey Zone make it easier to both see directly on screen if you have any of those two in your PC Inventory and also inform you if you have used last Survey/Treasure map or you need to go a bit away to trigger a respawn. It also show a countdown when you farm Survey nodes and an icon if you enable it above node so you know if that is part of survey or is just an ordinary node that is close to your Survey node.

There is a lot of other add on that make it easier to filter or search for Treasure Maps or Survey in inventory. Inventory Insight is one add on that might make it easy to find all of your collected Maps or Recipes in storage, (all character's) inventory and bank.

There are other AF filters that can be found on ESOUI for Recipes, blue print etc. and also for quality or level which might be helpful for those item that have such things. Auto Category make it easier to sort and also use FCO ItemSaver as you can hide what don't want to mark or unmark with AC and use a small green button to mark/unmark a large group of items in Inventory, Bank, GB, Storage Chests and CraftStations.

Personal Assistant have feature in its Working module (it have several module to make it easier to navigate). One feature is to autoconsume when get an item like recipes or use a keybind (there is also chat command).
With all these addon I don't think at least for PC you need to worry about icon for recipes (all craft related recipe, blueprint etc) or Survey/Treasure Maps.

This addon make it possible to use the default icons or set up your own icons and rules for those icons to protect items or make them easier to see if you simply just want to know what to use and not. Just always wait until the red icon that is an indicator for FCO ItemSaver reading SavedVariables to finish when you go to Settings for this add on as it can take some time before it is ready and you can make changes in Setting for this addon. It's not something I have ever thought about or noticed, but it does seem odd they are using the same icon. We have umpteen treasure icons, whose only purpose is to be sold to a vendor, so I don't see why surveys/maps/recipies should share an icon.

The least they could do is have their names start with Survey instead of the craft. So instead of "Enchanter Survery: Deshaan" it would say "Survey, Enchanter: Deshaan". Then they would all be grouped together and not scattered throughout our bag.PCNA2 -

the only issue i have with that is it doesnt read well
it would be better for the game to just have a filter specifically for maps/surveys instead of them just being lumped under miscellaneous with a bunch of other stuff like fishing baits if you dont have craft bag, lockpicks, soul gems, and a bunch of other things that dont fit into any other sorted categoryplays PC/NA

It is QoL issue and it runs contrary to the quality I want. You may want it to be changed, I don't. I like having the surveys categorized by type the way they are now. That way when I need some materials the surveys are very easy to find in the bank or inventory.0 -

Changing the icon wouldn't change the category.
Neither would Survey: Alchemist, Bangkorai.

Actually, it would. As I stated my preference is by type first, not survey first. You may not agree, but we all have different preferences. Mine is to leave things just as the are. If an option was given to how they were listed that would probably be the best solution.0 -

It would not because it would still be sorted by type.
The only difference in sorting "Survey: Alchemist" and "Alchemist Survey" would change is how they interact with things that aren't surveys.

Oh I would HATE this. Would be a huge QoL step backwards imo. I use the text filter all the time to pull one zone per session from my bank into my inventory. For example I'll start typing Rivenspire so I can get woodworking, enchanting, jewelcrafting etc and knock off an entire zone from my inventory.
