The saddest part is, it still wouldn't matter.

Horizontal Progression Only is the mantra ESO has lived and died by since U35 therefore this 'power improving weapon' would basically be 'like any other weapon, but this time the proc is bright purple'.

My tactic is to buy the Boss 10 pizzas. By the time he is done eating, he's too sleepy to fight, and takes a nap.

Just pick up golden skull and tip toe out.

Just pray that enough players remain or respawn before the thing simply resets itself.

It really sucks for magicka toons too. Even using tri-stat potions and bewitched sugar skulls I cannot maintain stealth as the stamina drain is too much.

    This is user error ^

The fight works exactly like its intended to work people just don't pay attention to their stamina and the mechanic during the sneak phase.

Thanks for guide, although we had already worked it out.

Getting steamrolled and rezzing means you are not in stealth so pretty much get auto-wrecked once the rez cooldown is over during the crow/crouch phase.

Can't say I find it fun. Endured it once to see, done it a couple of times more for others.

But happy others are having fun with it. :)

The only error this user made is sticking around grinding against a cheating engine, hoping for better content.

The rewards are miserable and you can get tickets and gold/purple skulls in a fraction of the time soloing a large variety of other content.

Actually I like this boss. Its mechanic is fun. And its "mood" is pretty "halloweeny" and pretty scary unlike other stuff.

About the rewards: Conceded: The golden skulls are a bit of a letdown.

There's no defining personal taste for sure, but 'scary' would very much depend on age, so maybe the boss would have a PG rating if it were a scene or trailer from a Disney film I suppose.

I've done this only on magicka toons, and it's pretty rough when the group is large. But when there are only 3 people in the group (the largest group size to still get single crows), it's trivially easy, even on mag.

(See post #15 for why small groups are easier.)

Stormweaver's Cavort mythic actually works for the sneak phase. Edit: I think it starts draining after a enough crows are grounded though, or it was changed.

Also got two Ruby Candlefly Gatherings drop from Hollowjack directly. No bust yet though.

Seriously? The cosmetics are truly awful, and everyone except new players have all the Dremora motifs 10 times over, which can be bought from every guild trader for peanuts anyway, saving the complete waste of time it takes to grind for them.

When the main purpose of collecting and spending tickets is? enriching you character and improving power, strength, sustain and survivability ...cosmetics! and pets! you know the game is floundering.

Thank goodness event tickets do not buy gear, that would be awful. What this game needs is more earnable cosmetics that aren't tied to the crown store.

    Which makes money...

    How exactly?

The relatively small number of players that actually care about this content having ESO+?

Does that amount of money cover all of the companies costs AND justify their continued investment to executives?

I don't disagree with the general notion that heavy focus on cosmetics isn't particularly enamouring. But that's what makes the big bucks and making big bucks is what allows the game to exist.

Bumping up, as this will be again relevant for today’s Event start.

I vividly recall plenty of wrong info offered by randos in groups, and attempts to correct said errors was often met with abuse, gaslighting and pushback.

OP’s guide is tested, timed and accurate. Do a screen recording yourself and do your own verification on phase timers.

My small contribution, if not already obvious from all observations offered in this thread-

    Hollowjack: Group Size Rule-Of-Thumb
    Party of -
    1-3 Players: 1 Crow, 1x Resource Drain
    4-6 Players: 2 Crows, 2x Drain
    7-9 Players: 3 Crows, 3x Drain
    10-12 Players: 4 Crows, 4x Drain

Years past I was running a pure templar with the focus rune that regens stamina. The big issue I see today is people are doing 8+ players and it becomes a res fest with the massive stamina drains.

As much lag that is in the game since the event started, it`s hard to say is gamers standing up because of ignorance or the lag? I know yesterday I got caught a few times because someone was standing up and the boss would run over me and get me with them. Then I ran a random normal (Scalecaller Peak) and the lag was so bad that I just stood in one spot until the group got to the next boss.

Agreed. Was in a group of 3, and one player was standing. Didnt rez, and towards the end, I started getting many “player has joined your party” notifications - they 100% DC’ed and its not their fault.

Another group of 6. Me and another player did mechanics. The other 4 were some combination of clueless, disinterest, potionless, still-life statues. They 100% only wanted carries, and its my fault for joining. We wiped 2 times. i left.

Ive had the most success with 3 in group. If I need to carry 2, I can, with 1 Crow / wave its manageable. In final phase they rez up and attack. If I get chained and die, its fine, theres enough time to rez again and not party wipe.

Last night I was in a group of five. Two players were going to the crows and staying there like it was a safe space. One time they were both in the same one and when I went over and popped it they went to another crow and "hid" there. Never could convince them that wasn't a hiding space but was something to get rid of.
We wiped several times but eventually got it.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

This I blame on the inconsistent visual language of game design. We have learnt very early in the game (and in tutorial island probably) that Green Circle means “good/ally/heals”. For scattering of draining crows they should have used a blinking yellow/orange circle/ring to indicate a different purpose of it.

    Both have the one-time prompt.

Man quest giver, he opens a red portal (Seat of Detritus). Boss is Lord Hollowjack.

Witch quest giver, gather crow feathers, interact with things in the coven, a Purple portal opens (Garden of Shadows). Boss is Crowborne Horror.

If the boss reset then it was a bug. The crows need to be shooed away so that the stamina doesn't drain so much. If the crows uncover everyone then there's a pretty good chance that the boss will wipe the group.

It still baffles me how large an amount of the people do not understand the crow mechanic.
Hopefully it will become better during the event. I'll start telling people I group with to do the fight how it works, so the ones wanting to improve will get the information they need.

He was stealth nerfed this year, you can now res by yourself. ZOS probably got a lot of complaints from players who don't do mechanics about how hard boss fight is. :D
