Trophies made from human heads

    That's a good point. I have some scattered around some of my houses but I think I will remove them now that I have a structure built specifically for displaying trophies and busts at Coldharbour Surreal Estate.

    I tried doing that in the Antiquarian's Alpine gallery. I placed a lot of them on the walls on the second floor but hit the limit much faster that I expected since the trophies are not traditional furnishings (I did not realize that when I started). So, I kind of abandoned that idea.

    ESO is rated M for Mature. It's a game in which you can literally force the souls of the dead to do your bidding. You can murder, steal, and commit crime to your heart's content. This is where you draw the line? Furnishings that you can literally ignore if you don't like them?

I currently have 99 of those filled but will run out of slots for the rest before I am finished. But if you are only wanting to display the wall trophies you will have plenty of slots if you choose to move your display there.

    Did not know that Surreal Estate had more Collectible Furnishing slots as I only recently (last month) bought it and already built a library there. Besides, the Antiquarian's Alpine Gallery seemed to be a natural spot to display something but for a gallery they set the limit too low.

    There are currently 72 undaunted trophies total for Normal Dungeons, Trials and Arenas. I currently have all 72 of these displayed. I also have 27 busts, most of which are from Veteran base game Dungeons. That leaves me 11 slots which won't be enough for all the rest of the busts, but I am not rushing to get them anyway.

    My Coldharbour was sitting empty so I found it a good place to display these. I built a structure and expanded it twice so far.

    For those who are curious: According to the item description, they don't seem to be replica, btw, as the text says "trophy taken from..." (although it's always the same text):

    The "issue" I have with these is that I find them ugly and don't see anything decorative in having someone's head on a wall (but that's a personal question of taste, of course), and that it's always the same. I'd very much prefer it to be something else than just heads (yes, I know there are some rare exceptions). Like: Why not an ornate cuirass, a shield, some weapon, or some kind of artifact (depending on the dungeon or the enemy)? I'd find that more interesting to look at (of course it would also be more work to create these things instead of just sticking the head of an existing npc to a plate).

    It can still be discussed whether it's a good design decision, whether people like or dislike it, whether it makes sense lorewise or roleplaywise,... to let this be the general reward for dungeon completion.

    I for one enjoy mounting the heads of my enemies to my walls, be it elf, man, robot, monster, werewolf, vampire, witch, lich, goblin etc. etc.

    No-one (afaik) has mentioned Bosmer and cannibalism.

    This topic is another overreaction by adults who should read the warning labels instead of just saying 'yes' and complaining about the stuff they didn't consider.

    I think one thing I dislike about it is that it feels so... game-y? Lining up those, of course perfectly undamaged, heads on your wall as if you were putting trading cards into an album...

    For someone who plays this game as directing some random avatar through the world to get achievements, that might not matter at all, but as a roleplayer, it just feels weird to me personally. If I imagine I'm in some special place, no matter whether it's ancient Argonian ruins, a vampire castle or someone's estate, and I have just defeated all enemies - what would I do before leaving? Searching the corpse for valuables would be first. But after that? I'd rather sack some silver tableware, a painting or some artifact, instead of cutting random enemy's head off and carrying that oozing, mushy thing to some underground taxidermist or whatever. I'd rather have Derpy Mc Derpman's family heirloom silver goblet on my nightstand than staring at his face on my bedroom wall every morning when I wake up (there's a reason a severed head is more often used as a warning or to scare people than as a neat decoration for your tea room).

    #1 items I took with me in Morrowind (that were not valuable weapons or artifacts of some kind) were books. Then probably candles and laterns, and then expensive tableware.

    As for the codpiece vs. severed heads question, I'd probably collect codpieces. I'd aim for the biggest codpiece collection of whole Tamriel! Well, not that I would hunt people down for their codpiece; that would be creepy :D

    They are, in all other aspects, human, though. Like I said, based on IRL humans of a specific area, just that Bretons are magically inclined *humans*. They are not elves. I don't agree with the argument that the trophies are too much for the game, just correcting you stating that everything's an elf. And yes, people have mentioned Bosmer and cannibalism.

    While in lore Bretons are said to have elven blood, it's so long in the past (even in 2E) they're now considered mostly human. It's likely that the "upper class" Bretons may exhibit more "mer" typism because of concerted intermarriage between those upper class families.

    I always give my Bretons the most "pointy" ears possible (not all that pointy, but it's a bit moreso than other races).

    And yes, that's off topic. To be ON topic, as someone with mule deer antlers mounted and hung on the wall IRL (2 of husband's kills, one of mine - and yes, of course we ate the meat!), this particular thing in a game doesn't bother me.... Though I'm not interested in the "human or elven or daedric heads" personally.

    IIRC there was a plugin that stashed your books into the bookshelf for you.

    You're right about the lights, they may have had a higher gold per kg rating. That's how I factored what to take and leave behind. No such thing as a full inventory; only total immobilisation.

    Let's not remember trying to hock a Daedric Tanto for 20000 or whatever; trader never had enough gold and you had to take other goods in change. ESO players don't know how easy things are now.

    That helped for a while, but usually, I had too many books after some time (and it wasn't a lot of time). I collected every piece of literature I could find, I even kept all notes inside a chest.

    Good thing was that everything remained where you dropped it, so if it was really too much, you could at least throw everything on a stack and come back to fetch it later. Mark/Recall also helped. I sometimes wish we had that in ESO, too!

    And the stacks of loot at home grew larger and larger because merchants never had enough gold left at some point... It's much easier now. I still love Morrowind!

    I actually liked that they recognized their own items if you were stupid enough to try to sell them to them after you had stolen them. Happened once to me, to be honest, because I couldn't remember where that stupid thing in my inventory came from...

    I just moved in ;) First place where I stayed was always the house in Ald'ruhn of that guy who becomes a Temple priest.

    I used an Ashlander in some playthroughs who was indeed very useful.

    But we were talking about trophies, right? Does stacking pyramids of Dark Brotherhood helmets count? Although I only did that because of the usual "merchants ran out of gold" problem... Even worse if you had big amounts or Ordinator armor (I once deliberately went that path; in Ghost Gate, there's an Ordinator who walks around without his helmet, the helmet is placed on a table nearby. I stole the helmet, put it on, approached that guy and declared to be Nerevar reborn :D Which results in all Ordinators attacking you on sight for the rest of the game. It certainly made things more complicated, but I just couldn't resist)...

    Speaking about yucky things in other games. How many of you finished a quest in Skyrim where the Dragonborn was supposed to partake in cannibalism to get the Ring of Namira? This is where I personally drew the line (always killed the quest giver on the spot).

    Yeah. NOT going there EVER. Eww. I just kill that quest giver without a second thought. Adjunct to that: my Bosmer are NEVER Green Pact adherents. There are limits.... and that's mine.

    That helped for a while, but usually, I had too many books after some time (and it wasn't a lot of time). I collected every piece of literature I could find, I even kept all notes inside a chest.

    Good thing was that everything remained where you dropped it, so if it was really too much, you could at least throw everything on a stack and come back to fetch it later. Mark/Recall also helped. I sometimes wish we had that in ESO, too!

    And the stacks of loot at home grew larger and larger because merchants never had enough gold left at some point... It's much easier now. I still love Morrowind!

    I actually liked that they recognized their own items if you were stupid enough to try to sell them to them after you had stolen them. Happened once to me, to be honest, because I couldn't remember where that stupid thing in my inventory came from...
    Me on the other side of town: Hmm.. where is my hammer, I want to take this house with me and I need to remove some nails.

    I just moved in ;) First place where I stayed was always the house in Ald'ruhn of that guy who becomes a Temple priest.
    My pack mules (AKA any pets and companions from plugins): Please, nothing else, PLEASE!

    I used an Ashlander in some playthroughs who was indeed very useful.

    But we were talking about trophies, right? Does stacking pyramids of Dark Brotherhood helmets count? Although I only did that because of the usual "merchants ran out of gold" problem... Even worse if you had big amounts or Ordinator armor (I once deliberately went that path; in Ghost Gate, there's an Ordinator who walks around without his helmet, the helmet is placed on a table nearby. I stole the helmet, put it on, approached that guy and declared to be Nerevar reborn :D Which results in all Ordinators attacking you on sight for the rest of the game. It certainly made things more complicated, but I just couldn't resist)...

    I mean that the NPCs were more looking for any items they *used* to own, because when I went through town, I cleared it out of anything that wasn't labeled as owned, and if no one was looking, the owned stuff just sort of made its way into my pack.

    But yeah, basically to me, anything was a trophy, I used to love trying to stack gems, and yeah, I definitely collected every book and scrap of paper (and cloth, I loved napkins, was so sad they were gone in Oblivion) I could find.

    I also generally wanted a place big enough for my horde of animals to live, most of the houses in towns were too small.
