I dont enjoy grinding, I only do what needs to be done to get the stuff i want
I dont like ESO's version of grinding because it seems like they are just trying to artificially increase playtime with tedious tasks instead of letting people do what they enjoy.
Examples: Luminous ink drop rate(everyone wants to play with scribing but Ink is the barrier to entry to even play with it), transmutes system leading people being forced into running Random Normal dungeons, putting mythic leads in Trials when not everyone is a trial player.
IMO they want the game to seem more alive than it is by giving people chores to do each time they log in, not because people enjoy doing the stuff they do daily.
I’ll echo the sentiments that not all grinding is bad, but lately, a lot of it has been. The anniversary event… I still cringe whenever I’m reminded about those five style pages. That was the most awful thing I’ve ever experienced in any game ever. Too much RNG. On the other hand, grinding dailies for script pages on my alts has not been bad because every day I’ve been guaranteed to get scripts and there is a clear ending in sight for each alt and it’s not going to take that long, and with the vendors and the rotating weekly stock of scripts, there’s even a shortcut if we choose to take it. That is the type of grind they should be concentrating on, not the horrible low chance RNG stuff, Like the horrible, ridiculous grind for Luminous Ink we currently have now.
Edited to add: i’ve actually been enjoying the script grind on my alts because it gives them some thing to do, and it’s making me revamp some of their builds. But I’m also using the Scholarium vendor each week to shorten the grind and can’t wait to see what’s in stock every Tuesday . 🙂
