while running two clients on the same pc in the same zone one account has insane ping and the other does not. how does zenimax manage this? @ZOS_Kevin
Sounds like a sharding issue. When one instance fills, another is spun up. Players can be in the same zone, but not be able to see each other. Somehow separate instances are having differing levels of performance. But that could explain why some people have no issues, while others do.
Interesting.
An issue I see with regularity when I have 2 accounts on-line, the toons will be grouped, similar ping numbers, see each other, and be standing side-by-side after a kill:
Toon #1 will be standing over the NPC ready/able to loot it.
Toon #2 will see the same NPC 20 feet away, and when toon #2 stands over the NPC that it see's (same NPC) - it can't loot it because the server gives me the msg that it's unavailable/out-of-range (yeah, I forget the exact msg phrase, but thats the idea.). But toon #2 has no NPC to loot at the foot of toon #1
Similarly, both toons can be standing at the same wayshrine (for example) and toon #1 sees toon #2 standing 20 feet from the wayshrine, while both can access the same wayshrine at the same time.
It doesn't seem to be a lag issue in these examples, because the location of the 2 toons with respect to each other never 'catches up' to synchronize their locations.
It has always been a puzzlement.

I don't even know what happened just now lol. I was in a practically empty Cyrodiil with a single person to fight when my skills all suddenly developed a two-to-four second cast time and it just stayed that way for maybe ten minutes. It started doing that thing where it plays the sounds you hear when you're out of resources but it was spamming it like ten times a second non-stop.
Then out of nowhere a loadscreen and *poof* I'm magically back at home base. Didn't die. Didn't transit. Literally just reappeared at homebase like nothing ever happened.
This would be a funny story to tell if I didn't expect the game just be this forever from here on out...

The thing is its not even just PvP anymore. It's been PvP for about 5 years but its now rolling into PvE. It's funny to think if they had just worked on solving this back then it wouldn't be hitting PvE like it is now. I know of at least 10 player who have been subs for over 5 years who are no longer because of their lack of action over the last year or so.

Funny, 5 years ago when everyone said "its only in pvp" my reply was "what happens once it spills over to pve" and I'm sad that I was right.

Call me crazy, but Zenimax seems to ignore feedback no matter how many people are giving it and I'd say that there's nothing we can do to get them to care for this game the way they should be if they clearly don't want to.... and I'm waiting for more people to admit that maybe Zenimax doesn't even know how nor has the resources to fix the problems this game has because I seriously cannot be one of only a handful that think that. You weren't the only one. But apparently there weren't enough of us.

There's reddit threads on it, pretty old, but apparently he reads them and answers.... if people are polite.

Can't get into the game, if can, can't load my character.
If this works, can't use the wayshrines. If that works, I get kicked out while traveling and so on and so on.
Absolutely horrendous.
