Use a free VPN. It's some sort of routing problem, in my opinion, since I don't have the issues I mentioned above on a different connection. Therefore, I tried a VPN and it works. It is much slower, but at least it doesn't break the connection.

    EDIT:
Why did this work for me? Because some major node on the route to the ESO servers has some issues, so changing my route by using a VPN helped.

Are you very far away from where the servers are located? I am not doubting this worked for you but I am just wondering if it corrected an issue for you that everyone may not have.

Happy that worked for you, but I don't think it is the cause of most of these issues. And I'm not trying to undermine your experience, there well could be an issue with an outside node you are experiencing. BUT ZOS needs to understand the majority of the issues we are talking about have little to nothing to do with routing and 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999% to do with their software/hardware. Don't let them blame a node or a DDOS for their failure.

My significant other and I both play and one of us will have issues while the other is not. We will be in a dungeon/IA run and one of us will have an issue of skills not firing/delayed and the other won't. Or I'm in Cyro and she is doing some questing and we have VASTLY different pings. We are both hardwired to the router.

Very high ping almost all the time after recent tuesday patch. Before the patch I had like 60-80 ping, now it's 300 and up to 999+.
Yesterday, after the patch, the game booted to "login screen" many times with various notifications.

    Game feels unplayable.

The bold part of your statement is quite concerning because it may indeed indicate issues on the ZOS side. On the other hand, I've noticed that when I connect to ESO using one internet provider, I have connection issues regardless of the location. However, when I use another provider, I don't have any issues, even though the connection quality is much worse. :/ How does that fit with what you're saying? I have no idea. :( It would be nice to get an official response... At least confirmation that ZOS is aware of the situation.

    Interesting,
after the last patch, the occasional Overland lags and ping spikes came back.
I don't have any disconnects or errors, but ability have quiet even 1s lag.

This game has always been weird for me with certain skills. But today I found an inordinate number of them canceling halfway through their animations. It's pretty tough to keep track of a fight when things are working as you'd expect but when you have to double or triple guess every single thing you do it becomes a frustration rather than a fun activity. This wasn't even in Cyrodiil mind you. This was just running around in overland zones and doing a little bit of IA.

Up. My post was closed and I was asked to reset my router which is fine but FF14, WoW, Valorant and Hearthstone have no need of me doing this.

It's 100% because of this update but I'm concerned it's for people in specific EU region. I've heard so many people complaining about lag doing trials and playing ToT that it's not normal.
  • galaneaeb17_ESO
Same here. I didn't have any issues with ping before, but since the patch was introduced, I almost constantly have a latency 999+ and frequent crashes. This happens right from the moment I log in. It's impossible to play. The ping only starts to drop after midnight when there are fewer people on the server.

I'm from Poland, if that matters.

It's been well noted that everything slows down or problems increase on the Live server when the PTS is active.

Playing on PC-EU is like playing russian roulette. Each logg-in screen has a chance to boot you from the game with error "lost lobby connection". Any attempt to log back in will will with other error messages for a minimum of 2 minutes.

This morning I had to login with the same char 7 timesin a row to do crafting writs. Each time I logged in, the char (and I) was booted from the game.

This on top of sometimes having a pink > 900.

Sounds like a sharding issue. When one instance fills, another is spun up. Players can be in the same zone, but not be able to see each other. Somehow separate instances are having differing levels of performance. But that could explain why some people have no issues, while others do.

    Interesting.

Since last patch game is unplayable due to high ping. I checked several different locations (both PvE/PvP) and my house, and ping barely goes below 300. After reaching 999+, game kicks me to main menu and I have to wait few minutes to log back. Nothing is being downloaded on the background. Stable, fiber Internet 1000 Mb/s speed connected via ethernet cable. I live in EU and I play on PC EU megaserver. Also, I just noticed that official ESO forums and ESO account website, and such, they need more time to load all the content. Feels really slow :|

@ZOS_Kevin could you ask the team whether the server resources have decreased since the 'rebuild' update 2 years ago that happened on PC NA.

It feels like the performance has degraded to such a level that could only be 'fixed' again by another 'rebuild' or perhaps reupping higher performance options on hosting which have maybe lapsed.

An issue I see with regularity when I have 2 accounts on-line, the toons will be grouped, similar ping numbers, see each other, and be standing side-by-side after a kill:
Toon #1 will be standing over the NPC ready/able to loot it.
Toon #2 will see the same NPC 20 feet away, and when toon #2 stands over the NPC that it see's (same NPC) - it can't loot it because the server gives me the msg that it's unavailable/out-of-range (yeah, I forget the exact msg phrase, but thats the idea.). But toon #2 has no NPC to loot at the foot of toon #1

Similarly, both toons can be standing at the same wayshrine (for example) and toon #1 sees toon #2 standing 20 feet from the wayshrine, while both can access the same wayshrine at the same time.
It doesn't seem to be a lag issue in these examples, because the location of the 2 toons with respect to each other never 'catches up' to synchronize their locations.

It has always been a puzzlement.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

That could explain the "rubberbanding" that we experience. Some players are being whipped around to catch up to the location of other players. That makes perfect sense.
